I think VGA is about game developers (people involved), i'd love to see Reggie kick some ass there, though.
 
Yes. Finally CoD is not on the list, even though I like CoD a lot, but I don't think that any edition is worthy of Goty

no way it's going to win. last year every game nominated for GOTY got an award in an other major category. it was just too neat to be real.

One more time, let's see if you figure it out this time -
The nominations are these, finalized. These are the picks you will be able to choose from a month from now, despite being worthy or not for nomination and despite the obvious "new game smell" bias.
And I don't give a crap about Gaf's opinion on "Goty," they're just as nutty and has nothing to do with this.

Also, review copies don't correlate with "the press" because usually one 1 person in an entire collection of "reviewers" gets to play the game. Jimmy is reviewing skyward sword, but jonny and jeff haven't played it yet, they're not reviewing the product. Get it? Also, it takes a little while for the honeymoon to end. Things change, and in this industry, rather quickly. Waiting a week after reviews is the least they could do.

Waiting for the game to come out before nominating it for something...is it REALLY asking for a lot? Have we gotten THAT brain-dead lately? You really can't see any logical flaws in it?

But again, it's the vgas, so..yada yada game culture lols for everybody.

The list of voters is actually pretty damn good. Lots of names I respect on that list (Mike and Jerry, Davison, Kohler, etc). Hopefully they'll class up the actual show and make it less embarassing to watch... A man can dream right?
 
Why is there so few games allowed on GOTY list?

No Dark Souls? No Deus Ex HR? not to mention multiple others. so dumb.

If you listened to (or watched) Invisible Walls after the VGA last year, Satterfield seemed emphatic that it would get better over time. They still have to actually pull of the broadcast though.

They can only pick so many. It fits what most normal award shows do. I'll bet you both of those are up for RPG of the year though with Skyrim and probably Witcher 2.
 
Totally fine with the nominees
Pretty disappointed that the witcher 2 and deus ex hr were not considered at all though
 
I hope AC or Portal 2 win GOTY and Infinite wins most anticipated. Although my opinion may change once I play Skyrim. I really want Rocksteady to get some sort of recognition for Arkham City, even if it is from something as silly as the VGA's.

I'm holding out for something announced upcoming that DS can win, and I would hope it not be purely testament to the games difficulty, but the other things that make it great as a whole.
 
Uncharted 3 has barely edged out Batman for me. We'll see if Skyrim can beat it or not. I probably won't be playing Zelda until next year.

I know, there's no boobs or guns. This and Portal 2 doesn't belong on this show at all.
 
My odds are on Skyrim taking it based off the 'judges' and with Oblivion winning here before. Portal 2... should win in my books, but I can see how people might want something a bit more meaty for 'GOTY' award.

Haven't played batman, but 'better, but more of the same' is enough for high scores, but I don't think that has a chance on this stage (I can see it winning on some other sites though).

Would love for Zelda to win though. There hasn't been a nintendo exclusive title that won since RE4.

But fuck the show, I'll watch it just to see Kojima go up on the stage and announce Raiden will be a wii U exclusive or something.
 
I wonder what it would take for nintendo to be "cool" again.

How would all the haters respond? "uh, well yeah, I guess they're ok. I still wish zelda was more brown and had guns though"
 
I haven't played Skyward Sword yet. It'll probably just end up tying with Arkham City for me. Don't think I can choose just one.
