Splatoon 2 Invitational Tournament now Live

Thanks for the thread. I feel it will take some time until the Observers actually master how to perfectly showcase a match, so it will probably be a bit confusing for a while. Regardless, at least now we have the tools to do it. I still feel we need a permanent mini-map, even if the camera can be zoomed out.

Spectator mode is pretty cool and helps in following this mess

I know right?!! Is that going to be in the game or just this tournament mode? It's so cool!

also unrelated to this stream: I know there's a story mode, have they said anything about a local multiplayer mode, like the lame one that was in Splatoon 1?

These commentators are real good. They are explaining the game really well along with the action. I would watch more eSports if it was like this...

Spectator mode has a ton of potential. Really helps the game read better. Would be nice for a little more zooming out during the match to see how momentum is shifting, or maybe a splitscreen popping up with the overhead view once in a while.

Really positive on this tournament now. The commentary is good.

Japan going to clean up.

I think ideally there would be a large overhead map onscreen at all times with separate screens showing individual players they could zoom in or out on for spectating in tournaments.

Yeah, if multiple people can be spectating a game in "tournament mode" or whatever, this would be a great way to show the game.

Dynameu is destroying.

Deadbeat is holding on barely, but I'm calling this match from 2:15.

Were I betting man,

1. Dynameu
2. Blue Ringed Octolings
3. Deadbeat
4. Rising Moon

I think if they presented the game with one of the ranked modes, the game would be easier to follow, since there's more of a "front" where most of the action is focused. Turf war makes it so that fighting breaks out across the whole map

I wonder how many spectator viewer they can have.

I could see in the future some awesome instant replay montages of big kills and final second pushes.

Would also be cool to see to see them following players who are on a hot streak with splats. If they don't have real-time data of that in the game, it would be cool for them to add that. I don't know if that would change the game too much or mess with the balance since it could cause people to single out players on a hot streak, but it could definitely help players take out the strongest players on the opposing team, which could help teams that didn't have the strong stand out players if they could at least gang up on other teams that do have the strong players carrying the team.

They said 10 systems max per match for 2 spectators iirc. Not sure how that translates to online though.

2 spectators/cameras seems decent.

Could have one showing mainly an overhead view while the other zooms in on the action or having one following each team. Should be interesting to see how it's typically used.

Poor Team USA, Deadbeat was an appropriate name. Land of the Free, I guess.

So who needs a nerf, Japan or the Dynamo Roller?
