Thanks everyone for the responses! I'm looking forward to grabbing this one for my Switch. It looks like a lot of fun. I'm a little worried that Splatoon 1 vets are going to wreck me at this point, but I'm still interested.

Don't even worry about that, it might seem a bit overwhelming at first but stick with it and you'll improve. Trust me. Plus with the differences and new levels and stuff, it will level the field for everyone just a bit so you'll have a much better chance with Splatoon 2 than you would if you jumped into the first game right now. And at the end of the day Splatoon is just pure fun no matter what so I say go for it!!

I pretty much only went back to turf wars when there were new maps that were in it for rotation, and that was only because recon was a boring way to learn the map

Yep, it's nice seeing a competitive Nintendo game that isn't Smash. I'd even go as far to say Splatoon is easier to get into for a newcomer as well, Smash is just crazy with its depth and tech.

Japan may be too Dynamon focused for Tower control. We'll see if that strategy works for them.

Even if they lose, Japan may have a chance to come back during Turf Wars.
