Use some of your other IP's and/or original titles.
Give Final Fantasy a fucking rest.

Honestly it doesn't matter what IP they're using, they just have to pick one and stay with it.UberTag said:Clearly you want a sequel to that multi-million selling title NIER.

Square Enix actually thinks this is the type of game we want from them. How sad is that?
If anything, this should probably be everyone's vote for Worst Game of Show instead of Fable on Rails.[/QUOTE]SE doesn't know what they're doing. That looks like a low budget shovelware title

I'm actually more disturbed by XIII-2 than I was about XIII. At least with XIII they had a clear vision (albeit flawed) of what they wanted and ran with it.Diablos said:XIII-2 + Versus would have nullified that worrying. At least for E3.
Although I will say XIII-2 was a really impressive for being so early in development (at least I got that impression). I don't even care about anything else they showed.
Oh God, it's so true. Games with Matsuno's writing and direction are probably the only Square games that I don't find myself cringing at.Augemitbutter said:tactics ogre was the best game they released in 10 years, only matsuno can save them. bring him back full force with the next ogre something game.
The thing that gets me about Heroes of Ruin is Square already has a 4 player real time RPG series they could use with the Crystal Chronicles games. With the 3DS having better online then the DS it just seems silly to not do another on the 3DS. Heck just port the original Crystal Chronicles from Gamecube to 3DS and add in online and I'll be happy.UberTag said:![]()

If anything, this should probably be everyone's vote for Worst Game of Show instead of Fable on Rails solely because of what it represents. (On the bright side, at least it's not called Final Fantasy.)
bobbytkc said:They shouldn't. They only released one this gen. Their production output is so pathetic, it would kill them to stop making final fantasy.
And don't get me on FF13. This was a final fantasy so entirely lacking in ambition, it almost makes me cry thinking this was a company I grew up with.
WTF happened Square. I can scarcely believe this was the same company that brought us titles like FF6-8, Xenogears and Kingdom Hearts. They bought Eidos, a far smaller comapny than themselves, but I dare say Eidos has twice as much output and ambition than the whole of Square-Enix.

The Japanese game industry is behind.

Actually, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is the first ever Final Fantasy game where they used Western focus groups, so this would suggest that even this generation a lot of their output hasn't been tailored to the Western market.SolidSnakex said:The biggest problem with the current Square is their continued obsession with supposedly building games for the western market. No one wants that from them and yet they continue to do it. Square was most successful in the west when they were just doing what they wanted instead of doing what they thought a specific group of gamers wanted.

Can I get a Xenogears remake? It's not like Monolith is working on anything for Western audiences these days so I'm sure they'd have time free to lend a hand.VisanidethDM said:If every "remake" is like TO, I can go on 10 years with more remakes. Remake Chrono Trigger, FFVI, FFVII, FFT, SoM and such like that, and you'll shit over all the production of the rest of the gaming world.

8. Square-Enix titles have a distinct vibe that many gamers identify with. how closely did you work alongside them throughout development? In what ways did their guidance help the creation of the game, as well as highlight things you might not have noticed before?
Since this game was developed on the premise that it will be sold more in North America and Europe, we didn't have much guidance towards making it like a typical Square-Enix game. But again, while it includes RPG elements like experience points, I don't think we tried to make it like a typical Square-Enix game.

If you were to trawl Metacritic averages between gens, I'd wager only Atlus has climbed higher and that's largely due to them squatting on the PS2 with quality Persona games and leeching off the success of From's Demon's Souls.Ushojax said:Did they? Look at what's going on with the Devil May Cry, Resident Evil and MegaMan franchises. Yes they rejuvenated their fighting games and struck gold with Monster Hunter, but the rest of their output has been pretty nasty. RE5, Lost Planet 2, Bionic Commando, MvC3, Dark Void, they've released a lot of shit and pandered to North American audiences the same way SE has. On consoles, I don't think a single Japanese third party has put out better games than they did last gen.

Sure because it's actually a good game. 15 years from now I'll probably also look at it with nostalgia as well and think it's better then it actually is, like pretty much everyone else does to older Square games.RaijinFY said:I'm pretty sure 15 years from now noone would want a remake of FFXIII (aside rahxephon).
Sinople said:Taguchi is not the type to mince its words. The other day, he tweeted about those who are climbing the ladder of the company without any real contribution, just because they are the favorites of the higher-ups. Some suspected then that he was talking about Toriyama, who is reportedly under the patronage of Kitase.

Must be a great working atmosphere at Square Enix Japan right now.RaijinFY said:Now that's what i call bad news.
Oh, they definitely have made some titles, but I mean the budget and resources they put into stuff like Mindjack and The Last Remnant is vastly less than titles like FFXIV and FFXIII.SolidSnakex said:Mindjack is a game that was built for the western market

Yes, it's developed feelplus but it's still something that Square thought would be a good idea. The Last Remnant was also a game where they intentionally went out with the desire to appeal toward western and Japanese audiences.
