Square Enix party: more confirmation about a new game

Allow me to repeat myself:

We're not discussing porting FF 13 to the Wii.
I understood that. Do you argue that FF14 on Wii will look and sound as awesome as FF14 on PS3 (or even multiplatform PS360PC) would?

I just didn't have any pictures of FF14 handy to prove my point :)

I think they'll do that for you
on PSP
.

Personally, if there really is a new game announcement, then of all existing SE IPs I'd be most happy (and surprised) with PE3.

I dunno which is more incredible - the idea of SE actually making those 3 games in 2D, or the idea of SE actually developing on the PSP.

Makaitoushi Saga DS remake plz! Use that stunning FFCC engine. :D

If not that, how about a new Shade developed 2D overhead creation/destruction ARPG? And getting the old Quintet ones up on the VC?

That's why I thought they fit well together. (Though apparently they still want to make us believe that FF7CC is coming)

You do know Kitase will strangle you if you wish for that?

My ninja leprechauns will waylay him long before he gets to me.

That, or I can just drop my homework folder on his head and crush his skull.

I don't think they've shelled out money for a vocal theme to have it be performed on the DS's sub-par audio hardware.

So it's a game for PS2, PSP, X360, Wii or PS3.

The whole three characters thing makes me think of a KH spinoff, but Nomura's team should be busy with Versus at the moment.

So what could it be? New PE made by a bulk of the MMORGP crew?

why would anyone want a ff7 remake, that game was a classic, so why would you want to milk it to death. anymore anyway. and how do you guys even know its a ps3 game.

It's Square-Enix's Zelda game. Nintendo is licencing the Zelda franchise to them to make a "proper "RPG out of, as a spin-off of the main series. Hence it'll be known as Chronicles of Zelda, and the likelihood of future games in the series will depend on the games success. Featuring a full world to explore, including the continent of Hyrule, the game will be a "sandbox" RPG with a great many sidequests and secret locations, its up to the player to choose how to play the game. It's expected to feature full voice acting, parties of up to three characters and an exciting new levelling system that mixes the old heart collection with a traditional EXP system.

Damn, I'm a little late for April Fools, huh... oh well, I can dream.

Negative,Nomura is already planning to reveal a real time trailer for versus XIII this year.
Really? I though they were just working on the scenario and characters/background designs.
Last time I heard news about this title, they were saying only 3% of the game was done or so.

I think it's a Wii game myself... I don't think Square has the resources for yet another next-gen title with everything they have announced already. Pretty much all the FF teams and the Kingdom Hearts team are tied up making FF 13 and FF vs 13. Such an emphasis on voice acting rules out the DS.

Heh, now that'd be interesting...not likely, considering the recent GBA game, but interesting all the same. :D

Still, a part of me really wants them to do more with those Quintet properties that they have. ActRaiser is begging for a next-gen revival...and Terranigma needs to just be available to Americans some how.

Going by the amazing stuff they can get out of the DS, I'd love to see what they can do with the Wii when they're really trying.

Same, so far I've not seen a Wii game that convinces me that they're "trying." It's all sub-Gamecube stuff.

(Doesn't make the Godfather less awesome, though.)

Not really, they always set a small team to plan out other titles when making the current FF.Heck I bet FFXIV was in development after FFXI

Just STOP.

That was not an N64 tech demo, and it never was. The fact that it wasn't an N64 tech demo or even intended to be has been public knowledge for almost as long as that video has been out, and certainly more than five years. I have no idea how ANYONE could be aware of this video and not aware of its origins by now.

The tech demo was made for Onyx workstations. While both these workstations and the N64 graphics hardware were made by SGI, they had little if anything to do with each other. The game was controlled by a mouse through mouse gestures; something that was never on the table for the N64 or any other console of the period.

I think this must be the most ridiculous and pervasive piece of misinformation in video game history and the fact that it hasn't fallen into the grave along with "YOU CAN REVIVE GENERAL LEO/AERIS" is just pathetic.

Guys, FF was announced for the Wii before it was announced for anything else -

FFCCCB_Screenshot_16__small.jpg

Crystal Bearers was announced when the Revolution was first shown - so theres your ground-up Wii Final Fantasy.

This "new game" is most likely going to be a FF since thats the event them, so more likely its whatever Haeraisis is..... and if its something other than FF, its the "new series" Kingdom Hearts Nomura keeps talking about. That's pretty much it.

Is that screen from in game?

It looks really nice...

FFXIII is clearly a predicament for SE. On one hand the Wii is winning in Japan, which means an FF would probably enjoy greater sales there. On the other hand, it's a stunning looking game they can't exactly port over.

They should talk to Ubisoft. They're good at porting stuff over.

Oh... Wait...

Before anyone tries to state that it's FF Hearesis, Hearesis will be a FF fanset with guides and crap.

So what could that next game be? I expect something next-gen on every level, and by that I mean Bouncer 2.

ew ew ew

no thanks, I'd prefer a new IP.

But the game was far along on the PS2, they could easily make a cross-platform release on all three major platforms but I'd doubt they'd do that, it's not S-E's style.

hell yeah, wii can have ffVI...least favourite ff barring X-2

I have very little interest in remakes, except a xenogears remake

uhh no,They're already programmed it to the Cell.Porting would be a nutcase and not worth the time.

Eh, who cares... I just want my handheld SaGa remake. :(

If it's a KH game/spinoff, maybe it's coming from the COM+ PS2 team (ie: the Musashi team)? I could see that for Wii actually.

You think they burned everything from the PS2 version in the process or something? Or maybe you forgot that the FFX team was working on it for PS2 before they made the White Engine and FFVII demo?

Eteric Rice said:
Originally, it was being developed on the PS2, though.

*shrugs*
It was not developed yet I believe, they were planning out the story/direction.etc before the they change their mind to developed it on the PS3.

That not what i meant....

I bet it hasn't been burned, but it's probably entirely useless. There's no port in keeping around PS2 assets for PS3 games, and they have already discussed how they fundamentally changed the battle design to take advantage of "next-gen" power. At this point to turn those assets into anything usable when they completely started over on the PS3 game would be silly.

This is really ridiculous. Why would anyone want them to port it down? I don't understand it. Do you want the game even if the game is compromised?

They aren't going to port it down, I never said they are going to scrap the PS3 version.

It's an RPG. What is there to be compromised besides the graphics? :lol

You know what? Forget it.

I don't think they'd ever scrap a game they've done that much work on, especially considering the huge investment they sunk into the White Engine. Though it is a sunk cost, it isn't like FF won't sell PS3s, even if PS3 was ultimately a huge disaster.

I still didn't say they would scrap it not really sure where people are getting an idea I said they are going to cancel the PS3 version, but if PS3 is still doing poorly by the time they are ready to release the game they don't have many options obviously. All I've said is that the farthest they would go is to release a Wii version of the game to capitalize on the install base but then I said I doubt they'd even do that since it's not like Square-Enix to release multi-platform games.

I never suggested they would cancel the PS3 version at all. I simply wondered why anyone would want a ported version, which I thought would be "compromised" from the original vision. But I've since been informed that, "It's an RPG," and the only benefit that more power could have would be better graphics.

They wouldn't need to port anything down, that was exactly my point in the first place, they had a version on the PS2, they would not need to port down anything since they would build upon that version, my point was that they could release it to capitalize on sales with the Wii, which was what cvx (the first person I quoted) was talking about. And don't bring Eteric Rice's bullshit comment into the conversation thanks.
