This is a point I always wonder whether developers fully get. When you make a sequel, you have a catch 22 situation: stay the course, and be called out on re-hashing product; stray too far, then you've alienated your fanbase who would be your biggest support for the product.

I don't mind the concept of this game. What I do mind is the title they decided to go with. Why call this SSX if it's going to be something so different? Instead of trying to reboot an old franchise, why not just make a new one? That's always the thing that bothers me about "re-boots", they're total bullshit. It's just a cheap way of trying out a new concept whilst trying to siphon off the success of an older well known franchise and hoping something happens.

This is just a really shitty move by EA. And a kick in the face to SSX fans who fell in love with the old concept and were more than happy with it.

SSX was the only game that most women I knew would play. It was a great "party game" .They will not play this. Not a single chance in hell this game will be any kind of party game.

I suppose the rationale is that those same gamers(women included) would buy one iteration of the game while the audience this is targeted at buys 20M copies of the same game every year - and EA would love to have another yearly franchise.

Imagine the possibilities though if this turns out a success... Tom Clancy's NBA Jam

Can't help it. Silent Hill: Shattered memories and Blur always felt like any potential hype they could build was squandered because of system exclusivities and lack of "HD upgrade". It's sad that this is what the HD market needs to hit that million seller status.
