STAR CITIZEN, Chris Roberts' (Wing Commander) New Game [$25 million funded]

Anyone know if its allowed to post youtube videos and monetize them for the hangar?

Wanna show it off a little to my subs, try and get some interest in it

Now to spend the rest of the night sitting in the pilot chair doing pew pew sounds.

I approve this music, first time we hear of the 6 million dollar goal I think.
Star Citizen and Squadron 42 will feature a full orchestral score.

The premium hangar looks so much better than the business hangar, although I feel that having multiple ships plays a part too. Anyone have screens of the basic hangar?

Lights cost money.

But hey, it feels more like OT Star Wars as opposed to the PT Star Wars of the premium hangar. Yeah, take that, suckers!

Can't get in because of "Connection losts" when starting, oh well, can wait.

Though from the images so far seen, I wish I could downgrade from business to discount, so much cozier and I prefer the rough look. Business and Deluxe is too sterile and posh for me.

I can't live my Firefly dreams sitting in a hangar that look like the inside of a Imperial Star Destroyer. :p

Hehe, true that. I think customizable lighting (as in the ability to turn on/off lights in different sections of the hangar) would go a long way of making the business hangar feel less sterile. You can achieve a similar effect by turning on the holo console, which dims the lights.

I dunno. I feel like the business hangar is a perfect fit for the Freelancer. I actually prefer it to the Deluxe Hangar, judging by the videos and such.

Can't wait for the Asteroid Pirate hangar that comes with the Cutlass. Must be glorious as well.

Another StarCitizen reporting by.
Downloading patches and hangar.
Music on repeat for ever and ever.

Can't wait to see my ship!

It seems to be working now. A few friends and I were having issues for the past few hours but now all of us managed to get in just fine and on the first attempt. Try it out if you've been having trouble.

I can get in just fine too now - couldn't in the afternoon.
Also created profile in RadeonPro to at least check the FPS and turn VSYNC and AA with AF on.

My Impressions on the Hangar :

- Very good music piece for the downloader.

- Looks good, extremly large tho IMHO.

- Ships are great, some take a while to manage to find "where to stand" to get into (300i is particularly hard to find out).

- No keybinding is a major turn-off for me, but (I hope) will probably be possible later.

- Is it just me but even the constellation feels "Cramped" ? not a bad thing in itself, but a bit surprised.

- I hope we can paint the hangar later, not a big fan of orange color, heh.

- Took me 2 tries to get in

- No 1900x1200 resolution yet, oh well.

- Got a BSOD (black screen of death) when I chose to exit (Alt-ctrl-del got me out of it)

- Finally something that made my video card heat up.

- It felt unpolished, but that is a given due to it being in very early alpha-mode.

Looking forward for more :)

The screenshot key is F12, saving to ...\StarCitizen\CitizenClient\USER\ScreenShots (check the console ~, after taking shots)

RadeonPro is working - set it to 32/64bits in lower right corner of the window.

The ingame store is up where you can buy hangar customization items and the buggy for ingame credits - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/voyager-direct

The buggy costs 20,000 credits - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/store/261-greycat-ptv

They are also selling credits for real world money at the rate of $1 for 1000 credits - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/central-core-bank

This means the buggy costs $20 (or $13 since everyone probably has 7000 credits already). Weapons cost 8000-12000 credits. Official forums in uproar over the pricing.

The pricing does seem a bit insane, to be honest, considering we're supposed to be "testing" stuff out. I know everything you buy will be there in the final game for you to sell, exchange, etc. But still. 20$ for the buggy? The hell.

Guys, if I could make a suggestion.

Consolidate discussion to this new thread in gaming http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=665089

That way we can keep it bumped and spread the word about the game. No point in bumping a community thread except for those that are subscribed.

Plus, Mr. Big did a great job on the OP and it gives updated and relevant information to people.

.

I know people are pissed, but nobody knows how fast 20,000 credits will take to make in the game yet. It might not even take that long so all this complaining is a bit premature. Plus, all this is optional, you don't have to buy it if you don't want to, it can all be earned in game.

$17 million reached by the way

I'm too lazy to type up another post, so please forgive me for copy-pasting my posts from the Alpha Hangar thread.

Direct X 10 graphics card users (under Windows 7 and upwards) can still join the glorious Hangar Masterrace!

By the by, for those of us with DX10 cards, a user on the SC forums has gotten the Hangar module to work using the Windows Advanced Rasterization Project which should be part of Windows/DirectX if you've installed this Platform Update - which should have already happened if you're running Windows Update every now and then as it also fixes some bugs and whatnot. Windows 7/8 only, I'm afraid.

Next you need to get the Crysis 3 SDK files. You can get them over here for free and without registration or any other shenanigans. It's a zipfile, too, so no need to install stuff, just open it in WinRAR or 7zip or whatever.

Now copy the following two files:
Code:
ShaderCacheStartup.pak
ShadersBin.pak
from the "Engine" subfolder of the SDK into the folder (installation location)\StarCitizen\CitizenClient\Engine.
Be careful not to overwrite any files, they shouldn't be there. If you get a warning about an already existing file something has changed and you better stop right there.

Keep in mind this is in no way, shape, or form supported or endorsed by CGI and may or may not work depending on your hardware.

Also, don't expect amazing performance or anything.

It works, I can play around in my Hangar on my ancient Ati 4850 with 512 MB RAM, which is way outside the official specs.

Proof:
The framerate is horrible, maybe 10-20 fps, but who the fuck cares. Above was taken at 1080p and low quality preset.

Edit: Fiddling around with the settings for a bit, at 720p and on Medium (not the default low) quality settings it's serviceable. The framerate is still nowhere near perfect, but it's good enough to explore the Hangar in earnest.
