Star Fox or Takamaru -- Hideki Kamiya would be down for either

The fuck is Takamaru?
Japan-only Famicon title from Nintendo that was basically a sister piece to the Zelda series, set in feudal Japan and starring a samurai that has made cameos in various games since then (Captain Rainbow, Samurai Warriors, etc), and who is the namesake of one of the 12 attractions in Nintendo Land. Takamaru is actually the name of the samurai protagonist, not the game. (See the OP for the game's name, can't be bothered to remember how to spell it!)

Funny, wasn't Pokemon Conquest originally pitched as a Warriors game? Probably had the trainers as the Warriors as they are in the final game, would've been ACE if Pikachu has a sword. :P

News to me! I have no clue about Conquest. I'm thinking 1v1 (or more with multiplayer), 3rd person action/fighting game with standard pokemon moves, rules etc.

Takamaru (fan art, I believe):

People always compare Murasamejou to Zelda, but the similarities are superficial--top-down combat (and Koji Kondo) is all they really have in common.

Mystery at Murasame Castle (Nazo no Murasame-jo in JPN land). Also, it's always been very interesting to me to know of how many sister series the Zelda games had from Nintendo. You had Murasame for Japan and StarTropics for the West.

You'd think more of these action adventures would have made a jump forward here and there... :P

Sakurai could've chosen to do Star Fox, but he chose to do Kid Icarus instead. It came down to a choice between Star Fox and Kid Icarus. Hence the "choice." Not sure what's not clear. He had the option to do either. Star Fox was a viable choice in Nintendo's eyes, with the right man at the helm. I don't know whether SF643D's sales have since changed that view, but there you go. There's no bullshit, and I didn't piss in your Cheerios, so please buck your trend in my threads.
You have no idea how people make games right?

They're not limiting their ideas with what ip they use in the first periods of development, that's why it waas never s choice, he wanted to do a shooter, starfox is s shooter, but starfox wasn't the shooter he wanted to make. How hard is it to grasp that

He had the choice to use a Nintendo IP. He was looking at doing Star Fox until the game design dictated Kid Icarus would be a better fit. He chose Kid Icarus over Star Fox. And -obviously- they don't let the IPs limit their design, because even while Kid Icarus is a better fit for what he made, Uprising is still nothing like the NES original.

The fundamental fact that Star Fox was available to him, and he chose otherwise, remains and shows the franchise is quite possibly up for a return.

Murasamejou is pure action--there are no puzzles and the levels are more-or-less linear. It's a fun game and I've been playing it a lot lately, actually, but it's about as similar to Zelda as Kid Icarus is to Metroid (or even less, given that the developers aren't even the same between Murasamejou/Zelda).

That makes it seem even more up Kamiya's alley.

Takamaru would basically be like a new IP if you did a sequel now.

Star Fox to Kamiya or Treasure, either one would make my day.

Takamaru and Starfox both have a chance at something new and big soon - Starfox 64 3D positioned that franchise more strongly again, while Nintendo including a Takamaru minigame in Nintendo Land & getting him in Samurai Warriors 3 shows that isn't forgotten, either. I could take either. I'm desperate for Starfox more...

I'd take either. Nintendo needs another super action game after seeing how well Kid Icarus did...and how Metroid: Other M fizzled.

Maybe there could be a Platinum x Treasure collab that works on Starfox, that way Kamiya can work on it too. Treasure is a pretty small company right? Awesome things could come from such a combination. That way a full team from Platinum isn't all on Starfox and can work on something else, be it Takamaru or whatever. Although this would complicate things more than they need to be.

Yeah, Takamaru would provide a booster shot to Nintendo's aging stable of franchises. It's something old that could be made completely new, like Kid Icarus.

Hmm, Kamiya supervising Star Fox like with Bayo 2, and directing Takamaru like with Wonderful 101, since Takamaru would be more in need of reinvented mechanics? Sounds good. :)

At this point I think they could inject a lot of new ideas into Starfox, too, as rail shooters alone are more downloadable ventures these days. Starfox 64 is incredible, but they can't release another 40-minute game (I'd love a mode this short as part of the experience, though - perhaps an in-Arwing only mini-story.) They've shit the bed on out of Arwing combat twice now, but that doesn't mean it's an outright bad idea.

Nintendo need new IP's and Platinum are one of the most creative studios on earth.

I really dont want to see a studio as talented as Platinum be yet another studio trying to revive old nintendo franchises.

Oh my.

THe more platinum games on Nintendo systems the better!

New Star Fox would be glorious!!!!!!!

In Kamiya we trust!

why do you think I shit my pants over Bayonetta 2. It wasn't just because Bayonetta 2 was announced. It's because it's announced as a WiiU exclusive, meaning Platinum and Nintendo are in bed fucking now.

and that's a good fuck.

We might as well count Platinum Games as Nintendo 2nd Party now :P Mwa ha ha ha

The biggest title they are currently working on won't even appear on a Nintendo Platform so yeah I don't think thats a good idea.

Honestly though, for all the jokes it really does surprise me how many people are thinking there is so much hidden meaning/stuff going on between Plat and Nintendo just because of Bayo 2.

I don't know. A Takamaru game for the West is basically a new-ish IP anyway, and Star Fox deserves a strong revival as much as a new IP deserves to be created, in my opinion.

Platinum Takamaru and Treasure Star Fox would work pretty well. I'm up for any attempt at making a new Star Fox game and trying to re-capture the magic of the SNES/64 games. What's Treasure been up to, lately? Would they even be available to tackle Star Fox?

do we have any confirmation on this?

Kojima nor Konami has given the slightest hint to putting anything Metal Gear related on Wii U while they have said for many months all Fox Engine stuff will appear even on Vita.

There is no reason to suggest that MGR will appear on Wii U at this time.

That was announced before W101 and Bayo though.

I get that, I really do.

Thing is Nintendo has been really good about keeping to their word about not wanting to buy Developers and Plat has been pretty vocal about how they want to be their own studio.

I just think people are really jumping the gun with the second part/Nintendo Buyout ideas.

Yeah, I'm not sure Konami ever ruled out MGRR coming to WiiU. Nor has anything ruled out the possibility that MGRR might be P*'s last non-Nintendo effort. No one knows how extensive the Nintendo partnerships will be.

I just watched my first video of Takamaru. Holy crap that game is cool. It's like a really fast-paced Zelda. I can just imagine what PG would do with that series. Wow!

My excitement purely stems from Kamiya's knack for combat design. Adapted to something like that? Blissful.
