Star Trek: Bridge Crew - PSVR/OR/VIVE

Darn looks like my copy won't arrive until next week for some reason. Was hoping it would arrive this week but now it's not. Wish I could play this now but I guess I can try and finish off a few games during the wait.

Buy this game people! It's soo freeaking good! Just had a session with 2 PSVR players, one Vive and me on Rift and it was just a blast in general!

This is what VR is all about really.

I have this on the Vive, and just got done with a couple of missions with a full crew. All I could say after completing my first mission was "this is surreal!". What a trip to be sitting in the helm seat, and piloting this fake starship while executing orders from the Captain chasing down Klingons.

One of the best moments was battling a Klingon Warbird to get its shields down so we could beam this device from the Klingon ship to our ship. In the battle, we lost our shields and started taking hull damage, so the Engineer put all power to weapons, to assist the Tactical crew member to burn their shields down faster. Once their shields were down, I was able to lock onto the device, beam it over, and plot a warp course out of the system to complete the mission.

One piece of advice to all new crew members is to go through the tutorial and learn each crew's role! When you join a lobby for the first time you may be the last one to pick which role you want, so having some idea of how to perform your job duties will go along way to being a productive team member or Captain.

I just played 4 missions with 2 random crews.

This game is amazing. It's better than I thought it would be.

Okay this game kinda blindsided me in how good it is. That first moment going into the game and seeing the menu screen console was amazing. Did the first mission with a random crew, the captain had already played it so I think that took a bit out of the fun as he was being super serious. Admittedly we did great all things considered.

HOLY SHIT, THIS GAME

They made me captain on my first mission and I was playing a total clueless Starfleet Academy graduate, half Wesley, half Morty. At the last section of the first mission you have to go
rescue the Kobayashi Maru. I was like "OKAY GUYS I GOT THIS, I SAW A MOVIE ALL ABOUT THIS EXACT SITUATION. TACTICAL, HACK THE SIMULATOR"

"Captain I don't think I can do that"

"TACTICAL, LOCK ON AND BLAST THE BEJEEZUS OUT OF THE KOBAYASHI MARU"

Everyone else: "YEAHHHHHH!"

(Kobayashi Maru explodes, mission instantly ends)

Tutorial guy is like "IT'S THAT KIND OF PROBLEM SOLVING IN A NO-WIN SITUATION THAT MAKES YOU THE BEST"

Nice, bought it from uplay but the game isn't appearing in my library.. And now i need to wait their slow ass customer service to help me out. Well at least it's not valve, i might not get an answer in a week.

You should get an e-mail with the Steam-code. Add it to your steam library and when launched it'll connect to uplay.

The meat of the experience will be co-op with other people so definitely play more of that. I'm not even planning on playing any of the campaign single player since I know that multiplayer will be more fun.

I'm usually hesitant on Co-op with people I don't know, but for this I very likely will play some. As soon as all the little nagging issues are resolved for me anyway.

have any intrepid explorers figured out how to get that uplay discount applied to a digital version of the game?

Digital PSVR version? I don't think that's possible.

Stayed up til 1am playing this.

So good.

A lot of folks just diving straight into the game without playing the tutorial, which is unexpectedly hilarious.

As the captain you really do need to put your foot down sometimes to make a success of things. For the timid, engineering seems like an easy/passive role.

Valve has actually increased their support turn around times by quite a bit

When TotalBiscuit visited Valve he was actually told Valve hired 2 external companies to handle most support tickets although there are still a small group of Valve employees that handle more advanced issues.

I don't understand how everyone playing this is utterly hilarious and is dropping the best one-liners with staggeringly good comic timing

Wow sounds like this is getting lots of great impressions. Makes me so excited as I just got word mine is shipping sooner than I was led to believe earlier. Anyone have any plans on doing an OT for the game? Would be nice to have for people to let others know their PSN names and such to join games and all. I know I'm going to need to find gamers to play with once my copy arrives in a few days.

Nothing on my email either, other than the paypal receipt. It was the first place i looked when the game didn't show up in my library.

To fix the mic bug, you need to disable all non-Vive recording devices on your computer. Yes, it's annoying, and they should fix it.
Thanks for the info it helped a lot 😊 Just played a couple of matches coop! So much fun:)

So I'm guessing no one else has had issues with body position, and the console being too far down?

Checked junkmail and such as well? Mine arrived right away as I ordered.

I too had some minor troubles with that on PSVR, but even a colleague of mine on Vive, which whom I played yesterday, said the same. He mentioned Captain was particularly difficult to control becaus of that.

I checked my camera, Move still had plenty of trackable room below, but I couldn't sometimes reach stuff. What I did was sitting bolt upright, stretching my neck, calibrating, and then back to playing in a relaxed position.

One of us! One of us! (soon)

I'm on the Vive as well. Out of curiousity, how tall are you?

So uhm, I've never watched or read a single thing about Star Trek. Also not a fan of multiplayer mic action. But REALLY interested in the whole piloting ship stuff, looks like FTL in first person. Is it really worth it for me?

It's a great game, if anything the star trek angle is underplayed as it doesn't have the music or most of the races, and the ship is an original one too.

FTL feels very different, you don't move about the ship at all or see any of it other than the cockpit. Even as an engineer you access the various systems via one control panel. You do feel connected to the outside universe, structural damage and so forth happens. But yer, you don't really feel like you are piloting an actual functioning ship as your interactions are too abstracted.

FTL is probably the worst example I could think of. Anyway since this is most likely a multiplayer focused game, how in depth is the single player? Is there a "survival mode" type where missions are randomly generated and it gets harder?

I'll start playing in appr. 1h, and then for 2h or so. Probably some kind of Tutorial first, but after that I would like to join some of you - PSN ID: Nerix

Don't know which way to go with this.

Picking between PSVR, Oculus, and Vive is a tough choice. If cross play was an issue then I'd likely go PSVR, but with that barrier out of the way - I don't know which road to take.

So when will we get Star Trek: Away Team expansion with Aim support? :P

Woah... I didn't even know this was cross-play... oh my.

Only did part of the prologue after going through the tutorial yesterday. Hot weather amd my dog didn't help keeping me focused on the game. Will try online tonight. Should be fun.

I played last night with randoms and we had a blast. Everyone was good natured and was making funny hand gestures and generally being very silly. We did pretty well until we didn't and shit went sideways but that was fun too. One of the coolest experiences I've had in VR, ever.

I did a drop in game last night but I hadn't played the tutorial so I had no idea what I was doing. Everyone else did though so I was holding them back. They were good natured about it, but I got booted understandably. I thought it would be very easy to pick up but the tutorial is definitely a must!

This game has been amazing though! I was totally taken aback by the level of detail in the gameplay and how well it simulates a bridge crew. If you are a trek fan this will be a dream come true for you. This is definitely a great argument for the benefit/viability of VR!

I played a mission as helm with 3 randos before getting roped in to some PUBG with some friends. I only wish more of my friends had VR, because it was a lot of fun.

Although after playing, the VR doesn't feel absolutely necessary. I think the game could definitely be played on a traditional screen. Maybe they plan to update with traditional controls when numbers start getting low?

I played on Vive with the motion controllers, how is it with a normal controller?

From what a PS4 user said in one of my lobbies, it sounds like the controller takes a big part of the fun away. He said you have to toggle through console options.

Pretending to throw Hadokens with my avatar never gets old.

Yeah, nothing in Junkmail either, but i had gotten to code from the customer support when i woke up so everything is fine now.
