Star Trek Into Darkness Superbowl spot

I still think this whole thing we're seeing in the trailers is just a small part of the movie. I get the impression it's not what the actual movie is about.

edit: Like this is some sort of test for Kirk/the crew.
edit2: "Into Darkness" could refer to that, it's Kirk's "nightmare". "I'm better than you." is almost said as "I'm your worst fear.". Also not only are they not revealing who he really is, there is still no clues about what the movie is ACTUALLY about, as if giving that away would reveal too much.

I think the whole, "Its on Earth all the time!" think is pretty unfounded. We know of that one alien planet with the cool trees, and I think they go to
some Klingon planet at some point since see those Klingon dudes.
It'll be fine, and I doubt we've seen all the locations yet anyways.

"Khan" should be a title and Noonian Singh should be dead but this is some other dude from the Botany Bay. That would give a call back to the original but still allow a fresh story.

Extended spot (Via the trek app) has the Enterprise faling down and really fucked up into the atmosphere of a planet... can't wait to see what the hell leads to that.

Trailer looked awesome, even more hype for this movie is building...

Also Fast & Furious 6 looks cool too, though I should probably watch Fast 5 as well beforehand.

Fakeout manuver to launch the vipers.

Adama was such a boss before, but that move gave him super boss mode.

That was such an incredible moment in that show.. thank goodness the CG held up for it, too.

Best scene in the entire show.

best sci-fi moment since i've seen AT-ATs at age 5.

JJ just keeps trolling with the "who the hell are you?" bit. Just say it already, I'm pretty sure the movie will be interesting without the mystery..........oh.

I doubt JJ had much to do with the ad. I'm sure it was marketing that took the lead.

could someone post a link to a video of that scene? I suppose that happened post-season 2

What makes the scene so special, at least for me, is that it's such an accurate marker for when BSG was getting progressively better, up to that point, and then afterwards where it got progressively worse.

BSG: Falling with Style

One of the best moments of science-fiction TV.

That whole episode was cool, but that moment just sent it to OMFG AWESOME. So out of the blue and bad ass. And one of the few moments of the entire series that had the Cylons just being mowed down like grass.

Anyways, on topic: trailer was great. Dat Cumberbatch. I am loving the mystery of this movie. No clue what it is about or anything. Just teases to get me there.

that's not a knock against this film though by any means, I just think BSG's space combat is really hard to beat.

I doubt Star Wars will come close either with Abrams behind the helm, unless he takes notes

edit: i'm just glad that i don't see quinto in any films aside from this series. keep him contained from the rest of hollywood

Man, Bear McCreary's score for that series still remains my favorite for any series to date. Without the dialogue it still adds tons of tension to that entire scene.

I have soured on the series on a whole over time but yea, Bear McCreary's score remains untarnished.

Of all the sci fi space commanders, in that situation I think the one person that would come out of nowhere and fuck shit up is Ivonova from Babylon5.
I feel like she would fight a helluva lot dirtier than everyone else.

If we're not limiting sci-fi space commanders to just TV and movies, Vice Admiral Preston J. Cole would kick both their asses. Ivanova's too.
Listen to me, Covenant. I am Vice Admiral Preston J. Cole commanding the human flagship, Everest. You claim to be the holy and glorious inheritors of the universe? I spit on your so-called holiness. You dare judge us unfit? After I have personally sent more than three hundred of your vainglorious ships to hell? After kicking your collective butts off Harvest - not once - but twice? From where I sit, we are the worthy inheritors. You think otherwise, you can come and try to prove me wrong. Is that the best you can do? Watch what one unworthy human can do!

Yeah, no kidding. Jaw dropped when I saw that the first time.

The trailer was ok, I liked the huge preview I saw during the hobbit better, though. Cumberbatch looks and sounds menacing as fuck. I've never seen him in anything before though, so this should be good, eh?
