So I might have just spent 690 million on an Annorax. It's so nice. My DPS sucks though. Conduit advanced and I got 18.5k. Need to figure out what I'm doing with the thing.

*Edit* Actually I didn't have autofire switched on for most of that so I suspect I was'`t actually shooting much until close to the end. I was quite surprised that the two frigates I launched from it survived right until the tactical cube blew at the end as well. I've just replaced them with the dil store versions.

I need to slightly redo my skills (I want to put a bit more into eps transfer) but I`m already a pretty heavy exotic damage build so this is a very nice ship. I've always liked the look of it too (Despite most people thinking it`s butt ugly). I also don't have many spec points at the moment. I need to play more :)

I`m currently working my way through all the missions on my main AOY alt. Yesterday after what felt like 8 ice ages I finally finished the Delta arc. Thank god I'll never have to do a full run through that until the next temporal agent/delta recruit thing. It`s sooooo long and uninteresting.

Three missions left on the iconian war and then just the latest ones to plow through. Couple of evenings play should do it and then I can get back to my main.

Current projects.

Temporal and Terran reps to finish on my main so I can pass the sponsorship tokens back to my AOY main.
All reps on my AOY alt so I can start buying iconian gear on my main.
Then just back to doing whatever I feel like on my main :)

I finished off the last of the story missions on my AOY alt last night. Misclicked on the reward choice for Ragnarok and ended up without the trellium console. While I level my rep with her I`m going to go back to my main and do all the story missions on her too (Ready for future FE reruns).

So at this point, having not played for years, is it easier to just start a new character rather than try to pick up my old one?

They're giving away the 23rd Century Bundle (TOS interiors, multiple TOS uniforms, Class-F shuttle) for free for 24 hours starting a few hours ago as part of the 50th anniversary, so even if you're not playing regularly, might be worthwhile to login just to get that. Not sure if there will be any more giveaways over the next day, but this is a good one.

The UI on the console version looks very nice. I hope they eventually backport it to PC.

My AOY character will be finished all 9 reps tomorrow evening and tonight is my last night doing the mirror universe queue. I enjoy the queue but there's a lot of dead time in it. I think I'd have gone insane if I'd done it on more than my main.

I dipped back into WoW for about a week and then lost the addiction again. STO is more fun for me.

Is there anything to do apart from the main episodes?

I'm rank 22 and mined some dilithium but apart from that I can't find anything to do. I thought there'd be loads of missions to do from random NPC's but haven't found anything yet.

I played for a month or so on the PC version years ago, and seem to remember there was more to do but can't find anything on PS4!

I just started on PS4 as well and gave no idea what I'm doing. What's the best resource for fleet noobs with this release?

They gave a platinum. How hard you think it'll be? Lot of grinding for upper ranks?

Haha, complete noob here too (x1).

Read the last couple pages, no clue what people are talking about 😂.

Can someone please help me? I'm doing the Klingon campaign and I cannot progress. That one quest were you have to kill Herron lord of the dead is bugged for me I've killed him countless times now and it still says defeat Herron. All that's left in this area to kill is these two floating tortured soul guys that aren't aggroed on me and I can't kill them.

Edit: Never mind, I just learned that you can skip missions. Its shitty that I had to do so though. Did they even bug test the PS4 version?

Yeah, I'm new on PS4 too. I feel like I'm just barely scraping by in my knowledge.

Can't seem to find a way to make money (or Zen), even after completing a mission (only completed the "Stranded in Space" mission and now doing "Diplomatic Orders"). I receive a bunch of stuff I have no idea what to do with lol. I like it though. Feels a little like a Mass Effect MMO.

I hope someone makes a NeoGAF Fleet.
Anywho, my character is Nova, aboard the U.S.S. Ikaruga, PSN name is Epcott if anyone wants to add me.

Pretty sure you have to pay real money for Zen - could be wrong though. You can make "energy credits" by recycling items using the Replicator. Not sure if you can do that straight away though, can't remember.

Yeah, I just bit the bullet and put down hard cash for the zen.

You either buy Zen, or farm and refine metric tons of dilithium and exchange it on the Zen currency exchange.

Be strong. There's really no reason to buy Zen. Maybe once you play hours and decide to throw the devs a bone.

Easy to say, since they lock some cool stuff behind the paywall. But looks like you can easily platinum it without spending a dime, or dieing of old age before you do.

Zen seems to be if you need to rank up super fast and load out a PvP account fast. I'll dive into that once I get done with the questing, but if that's PTW, meh. I'll pass.

I've seen you can promote BOFFs, but is there a way to level them from common > rare > legendary?

Also any good resources on the tech research function?

you can trade in 5 white BOFF for 1 green costs like 1k dilithium, 5 green for 1 blue, 5 blue for 1 purple. Its all random what you get back though. This is PC knowledge.

PS4 here. What should I be doing with my Dilithium Ore? And all the old equipment I replace with better stuff? Thank you, and live long and prosper.

I'm not sure what the console versions don't have yet, so I'll be operating under the PC version. For dilithium ore, make sure to refine each day. There's a player-driven Zen exchange through which you can trade refined dilithium for Zen at a rate that depends mostly on supply and demand. In addition, dilithium is necessary for buying equipment from the reputations and from fleet stores. (From my understanding, consoles don't have fleet holdings yet, so that doesn't apply at the moment.) Dilithium is also used in upgrading equipment.

Old equipment can generally just be sold to a vendor. Make sure you find the ones that buy at 50% of value, as there are some that will give you significantly less. Some pieces might be worth keeping around for your shuttle if you have one. There may be some unique items from missions you might want to keep around in case you can't get them again.

Repost from other sto console thread:

Been having a blast with this game. Now that I'm 50+ though I'm actually trying to learn more of the specs and what not as the trek to 50 was pretty simple.

Also been eying some of the T6 ships and googled some top choices for Federation. A lot of people say the Arbiter is one of the best Federation ship yet I don't see, to see it at all when searching in-game. PC only still? Or am I just missing it?

Next on my list is researching actual specs to maximize my current ship and play style (tank mostly with teeth).

Am I doing something wrong or what? A lot of the time on PS4 there's a huge amount of delay or inability to even use ship weapons, R1/R2.... All the other buttons work but for some reason it doesn't seem to detect that I'm in range and allow me to fire. It's infuriating.

The PC version for a long time (Possibly forever. I can't remember that far back) has sometimes has a rather large lag between hitting a skill and it firing and I've personally experienced many times it not registering at all and needing reclicking. Sounds like it's something they can't or won't fix.

Looking like lots broke with the recent update.

*edit

Dead thread is dead but the new console patch seems to be decent. Almost made 30 tonight from 18, decent in my books. Are there any gaf guilds still active?

Have this on the XB1 currently. Have 1 character level 51.

Any tips from GAF vets on this?

Also, is there a GAF Fleet on the XB1?

Aside from the usual Winter Wonderland event, there's the Phoenix Prize Pack promotion going on right now. The packs are 4500 dil for one, or 40k for a bundle of ten. They give you vouchers for 5 different rarities of prizes. Epic and ultra-rare are mostly summer/winter event ships that you might have missed. If you are so inclined, the now obsolete but once highly sought after JHAS and Bulwark are UR prizes, though getting UR vouchers is still actually quite rare, enough so that it's one of the system notifications spamming everyone up.

The most important prizes are actually in the relatively easy to get rare tier. The VSS Tanius is an admiralty card that has a +50/+50/+50 when alone and is basically an easy button for any assignments close to around 100/100/100. The only way to get it previously was the asinine Into the Breach event that very few people bothered to finish. There are also two VR unique doffs, Hakeev (Mirror) and Kilara Marr, in case you missed those.

Quite tempting in the uncommon tier is all the previously locked emotes, like air guitar, jester dance, etc.

If you find yourself getting all the unique prizes you wanted, you can also exchange the uncommons for some good upgrade items.

Also the dilithium exchange is seriously tanking with everyone feeling the need to buy these things. It dropped from over 400 last night to below 300 about now, and continues to drop.

booted up the game for the first time in a year to find that i have a bugged kit and no modules.

they redesigned the skill trees since last i played too, but i have no idea what i should play. anyone know of a guide or something that has the easiest spec for just general purpose/completing missions?

i was doing science before and having a pretty tough time, so i'm guessing this is an opportunity to change that.

I haven't seen any decent spec guides out there but I think Tactical might be the easiest to start off with.

Yup. Grab the daily from Q for your extra 40 a day. Nice and easy.

I played the two new queues (But not the battlezone) last night. They seem ok. Nothing special but not terrible. Gravity Matters tanks my fps down to 20 though and in general the game just seems to run badly for me now. Very difficult to get it running at a decent fps while solo.

It's not much, and many of you probably already have them, but the Season 12 giveaways have finally reached ships. You can claim a T5 Avenger, T5 T'Varo, and T5 B'rel from now until Monday 12pm EST.

I try different ships but I keep coming back to my Annorax. For some reason it's the one I survive easiest in and also seems to do the most damage for me. Plus it's goddamn sexy.

I have 167k fleet credits. Any suggestions for what I should buy at GAFBase?

I've been running Gateway to Gre'Thor queues the last couple of days to get my Iconian 4 piece (three down so far). I'm amazed at how some people play.

One common thing is 3 people go one way at the start. I automatically go the opposite and expect the last person to follow. They almost never do instead choosing to go over to the other side. Is that a common tactic? All 5 piling in a side at a time? Or just someone hoping for the easy life. Without anyone talking it's a bit difficult to tell if it's that or just people not wanting to be on the side with less people. Every time I've had a great run on that queue it's been 3/2 for the first two phases. Next time it happens I think I'll follow and see if we can do it in time. (Of course crossing the sides two people inevitably hit the group you need to avoid and get delays :) )

Then in the second phase I often end up having to ask someone to join me on my side because 4 people have decided to go for one side. Two people can easily manage a side (You can utterly ignore the raiders most of the time).

My Annorax seems to be quite resilient as a tank in some of these queues so I'm not afraid to just pile in first and light things up. Maybe some people are just more nervous?

A pug I was in found a bug in the Tzenkethi front queue last night. We were doing advanced and it was literally the best run I've ever had in there. Everything was perfect. Then we managed to destroy the last two bases at the same time.

At this point the dreadnought won't spawn and you have to leave.

I see today's patch fixes FPS issues in Gravity Kills. How that got into launch in that state I'll never know but I'm glad they're addressing it. It can be a fun queue although I need to remember to take a ship that can turn faster than my Annorax in there :) I might try my pilot escort and see how it goes.

What's the best way to take advantage of a dilithium weekend? I've got plenty of rich claim vouchers so that's covered. Does it count for admiralty missions as well?

I'm not sure if anyone here is doing the Breach event. It is shorter than the original, as they shaved off the two hangar rooms, so it can usually be done in 7-8 minutes. I have found a way to cut off another minute or two from that.

While you're in the trench, just ride the stream as long as you can, until you get to the first shield cluster thing. If you're cloaked, just hit full impulse as soon as it lets you, or evasive maneuvers if you don't have a cloak. Keep going until you hit the current again. Once you're in the area above the smasher room (you will notice the outlines on the map), fly up and over the side of the ship and then back down along its left (your right) side. You'll already know where the door is from having done this a few times, so you can see the big door lock. Fly towards it from the outside, but don't get too close to the shielding, or you can get stuck in geometry. Once you're close enough, it will trigger the next phase of the mission, whereupon your teammates can click a button to rally at the door. You'll need to fly off to the edge of the green mission circle on the minimap so that you can use the same button, otherwise you'll still be stuck outside the shield. From there, it's the same as usual, just a minute or so quicker.

I'm at a loss as to what to do at the moment. I have a few nice gear sets (mostly at mkxiv). Plenty of ships. All reps apart from Lukari done (That'll be finished in another couple of days).

I was tempted to play an alt but when I logged into my tac captain I realised I didn't have a clue how to play without access to Miracle worker and didn't fancy the rep grind again.

99% of queues are dead but there's still loads of people logged in? What is everyone doing.

STOGAF chums. If you're not grinding dilithium what are you doing?

House of GAF has now beaten GAFleet to K-13 Tier 3. :p

There are the couple of species recruitment NPCs to complete on the starbase side, but the KDF side is now pretty much further along. Some non-GAF members managed to go on a largely successful recruiting drive and now House of GAF tends to have the most people online of any fleet in the armada of which we are a gamma fleet. We even ended up throwing an odd starbase T5 completion party in which there were probably up to 30ish people (including random people we invited just to attend) just doing random stuff in the starbase lounge, while listening to a STO-themed internet radio station hosted by a DJ.
