Sorry for the bump, Star-GAF, but just caught the mid-season finale, and holy crap! Never ever expected this little show to hit Gravity Falls levels of awesome, considering my doubts early in the series...
The one that got me was Janna slapping Marco's ass in the bathroom. I'm not sure if anyone else caught it, but when Janna tells Jackie about the instances (she says "smell his butt" or something) you can see the salt on Jackie's face for a split second before the scene changes. Wonder if Janna's crusing for a bruising soon...?
I've stopped writing off the people behind this show. Small incidental characters/background events have back and the show doesn't go out of it's' way to call attention to it.
So if anyone wants to more SvtFoE stuff to consume, I found a thing.
Apparently, as an idea, Skleero proposed that an AU where Janna is the main character would be a decent spin on the show's concept. The premise is as stated there, rather than Star being sent to earth, somehow her spellbook was sent to Earth instead, and Janna was the one to find it. Someone decided "Hey, that's a great idea!" and contacted him/her about it, and started making the real thing happen, resulting in...
Now, I'm aware that fanfiction is viewed in a skeptical light, arguably for good reason, so I feel the need to justify this recommendation. This one is good. The best way I can pitch it is that if you were to go back in time to the writers room and tell them "No, Janna should be the protagonist" and they did it, this feels like it's what we would genuinely get. This feels like the Star vs the Forces of Evil in every way, the humor, the overthetopness, the antics, the pathos, the characters are all in character, the plots feel like they are what would take place in this universe with the same episodic structure, all without literally replicating what happened before. (though I guess the latest chapter with the monster hand comes closest).
It's the offseason and we're going to be waiting a few months before we get more Star vs the Forces of Evil. If you want something to hold you over until it does, I think this is the fix you need. If you're on the fence, the each chapter takes about 15 minutes to read if you're super slow, so might as well give it a shot.
Gah just caught up and now I want mooooooooooooooooooore.
Season 3 is gonna have Toffee's secret revealed won't it? They still didn't explain why magic is on the fritz from the last few episodes did they? I suspect that has something to do with Ludo using the Mewni magic.
Well, Season 2 isn't even over yet. We've got (I think) 8 more episodes. But yes, there's still some lingering questions that need answers. I definitely expect Toffee to show again before we transition to season 3. And before anyone asks, Season 3 was greenlit some time ago so we definitely have that to look forward to.
We're not getting those until February though, right?
I am always a fan of keeping busy with reading/watching/doing something instead of just staring at a wall until the show comes back.
I'm glad we're getting 3 seasons though. The show's pacing is rather slow in terms of the 'important stuff' and we get a lot of one off antic episodes. I don't mean that as a criticism necessarily, but these kinds of shows need room to breathe or else you can feel like not much happened.
That I don't know. Nothing's been confirmed other than a vague "sometime next year". It would be nice if we could pin it down to a month, though.
EDIT: turns out Marco's VA tweeted that his best guess for the show to come back would be in February. Which is probably why so many people seem sure about that month. Not really much to go on but there you go.
All we know for sure is that many of their shows are going to be grouped and aired together in some new block which will begin "early 2017", Star included.
Y-yeah, what's going on with the distribution of these books? Your best chance may be to actually go into a comic shop and finding it there, the books are scarce online.
So I cought up with this show, I watched the finale just yesterday.
I'm pleasantly surprised by how it turned out to be. Good animation, good plot progression and good choreography....well, mostly.
Some episodes definitely fall flat in some spots, and I wish they game more space to some side characters. Overall I can't wait for the next batch, which I just now discovered is still TBD...
Just thought I'd share this bit of info while this topic was up.
So a couple weeks ago Swampy (of Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law fame) tweeted that they were saving future episodes of MML for something called a "watch block" which people are theorizing could be Disney's answer to CN's "bombs" (for those who don't know it's where they show a new episode every day for a week). It just occurred to me that this could apply to Star as well.
"Starbruary" bomb begins Monday, February 6th. One 11-minute episode Monday through Thursday, every week that month ending w/ two half-hour long Season finale episodes on Monday, February 27th: Source Link (contains airing schedule and episode titles and can be considered spoiler-rific) Confirmed legit by StarVs staff

I usually am apprehensive towards "bomb" type airings for shows since it leaves a long hiatus after them but if they can start season 3 before the end of the year I'll happily take it.

Wait, so we are getting the rest of in February. Wow. I am both excited about getting to see the rest of season 2 so soon and a bit worried about why the episodes are being released so fast. I hope itunes keeps up with this.
Season 3 was greenlighted a lot earlier than anticipated, so the wait shouldn't be as severe as the 10 month wait between Season 1 and Season 2:
^ this was back in March of last year
This doesn't, of course, take into account the fact that the rest of 2B will air all in a single month, but she probably wasn't expecting that mini-hiatus we're having now either. Maybe it'll even out.
EDIT:
According to a post on twitter, if you go to see The LEGO Batman Movie in theaters you might just see some familiar faces giving a P.S.A. before the movie. Only overseas, apparently.
