STAR RETURNS IN FEBRUARY!!!

Because you're going to be getting a new Star vs the Forces of Evil just about every day in February, the wonderful Becky Dreistadt has made a single poster to represent them all! Please watch! We're so excited to share the rest of season two with all of you!
Daron Nefcy

Less than a week left! Here's something I whipped up for this back when the episode titles were revealed:

One thing to keep in mind and that hasn't really been talked about is that the new Star episodes will have some kind of freeform schedule on the days they premiere: the first airing will be at 7:00am in the morning (!) and then they will be re-run all day at various times. So for example, Raid the Cave will premiere at 7 Monday morning and then be shown again at 5pm, 8pm, 10:30pm, etc. And will continue to air before every showing of Trickstar on Tuesday, according to zap2it.com. This pattern will most likely continue for every episode during Starbruary. Not exactly the "block" we were teased with, but whatev. At least you'll have various times to watch it in case you miss the first showing.

.... the first one?

EDIT:

Major correction: according to the Disney XD site , "Raid the Cave" and all subsequent new episodes will premiere @ 12:30am est on their respective days.

And for us west coast folks with east coast feeds, that means 9:30pm... tonight. :o

I'M SO EXCITED AHHHHHHHHHHH!

I encountered this series back in December while channel surfing and it instantly hooked me. The art style and characters are just great.

So happy to be getting more Star!!

Got caught up earlier today, just in time it seems.

Feels like Marco's caught in a love tetrahedron now? Jackie, Jana, and Star?

So the show may have inadvertantly worked its way around into a harem story...

This was a good ep.
Nice development for Star having to deal with life in a post-book world. Glossaryck seems to have a plan for Ludo since he's not concerned about being 'rescued' any time soon. The episode also referenced the over-arching Mewman vs monster dynamic and addressed it differently by introducing a younger generation of monster that doesn't care for the feud and actually idolize 'the rebel princess'.

So was that a Monty Python ref at the beginning?

In addition to all the new episodes premiering this month, Disney XD will also streaming live Marco Q&A sessions on their YouTube with his VA Adam McArthur answering questions and recapping the show in-character. first one was today at 4:30 pacific, and they'll be having another one next Monday too

and for anyone planning on seeing the Lego Batman Movie after it opens this weekend, there'll be a special Star Vs. short with Star and Marco telling you to silence your phone before the film starts at participating NCM theaters, which includes Regal, AMC, and Cinemark venues

The wait was definitely worth it!
Pretty sure as well that Glossoryk is also planning something against Ludo as well. As for Star, pretty glad she took things better than expected and not to mention the monsters that idolize Star. Would be great if they teamed up with Star and Marco in a future episode.

Now I definitely gotta see the Lego Batman Movie! Have been considering checking it out, just to get rid of the bad taste the DCEU has given me.

I liked this episode,
especially the building up of Star as a much more independent magical princess compared to previous. It is worrying though that's she's getting more comfortable using dark spells.

Which episode is that gif from?

It's from the livechat video I quoted. 17:20 in. Though I get the feeling they might be frames ripped from a future episode, as were many of the other little animations throughout the video.

EDIT:

"Trickstar" was put up early on Disney XD on-demand together with "Raid the Cave", so rips and spoilers are imminent

Not a fan of the latest episode, StarGAF? Marco's Earth Magic line instantly became one of my favorite quotes in the series.
Made funnier by his parents' rampant sweetness to each other and everyone around them, he has no damn reason not to believe in love other than random cynicism lololol

I was waiting until after the 5pm airing to talk about it. Well, to be honest there really wasn't much to talk about other than aforementioned line and the fact that Preston Change-O was voiced by "Weird" Al Yankovic. But at least two episodes in after The Happening™ it doesn't seem like the dynamic between Star and Marco has changed much, so that's nice.

I'm still all about Raid the Cave right now:

More Raid the Cave goodness, a promo poster by the storyboarder that brought us the Friendenemies and Bon Bon posters:

It's a bit late, but here's my poster for last night's episode of Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Raid the Cave! Boarded by me and Amelia.

I might be reading too much into the ending/took it the wrong way.

But I think those hipster alternative monsters are gonna get the shit slaughtered out of them by Star's parents.

Then again that might be a little too dark even for this show.

Started watching this show fully lately (yes, despite my avatar, look don't dwell on why i had a princess marco avatar even before i actually watched the show), i just finished season 1.

It's kinda weird, Star is dancing around the line of "Too Randumb" all the time, she's fun and chaotic and just sometimes crosses the line into "Lol this is funny cause random! spork!", i think the only thing that really bothers me is her spells always being her stringing 3 random words together and rarely even getting a different result.

Still the humor of the show works, maybe it's just me, but the juxtaposition of colorful fluffy imagery with really mean spirited jokes works pretty well.

As with modern shows the best episodes are the plot heavy ones, which makes "breather" episodes feel more jarring (the banagic wand episode feels incredibly out of place after a very plot heavy episode).

Is Season 2 getting better plot wise?
Does the fact that it seems like Star's kingdom are actually the bad guys gets expanded?

Baby was really great, it makes me wish we didn't have to wade through the empty fluff of filler episodes like "Trickstar" to get to stuff like this.
It makes me wish semi-serialized cartoons like Star and Steven Universe were on a Netflix-like streaming service (or just Netflix originals) so we'd get to binge on 10 or 15 delicious plot-centric episodes without ever having to watch things as insipid as "Trickstar" or "Onion Gang".
:/

But yeah, Baby was really great.

When you mix positive and negative emotions JUST right...

Also, Brian H. Kim posted a clean version of the "Tree of Hope" track from Baby.

ALSO ALSO... um, screengrabs from tomorrow's "Running with Scissors" have leaked. Spoilers in the wild! Apparently if you have access to the Spectrum mobile app you can watch it on there. Oops!
holy shit
EDIT: and now it's on the Disney XD app w/ Baby. Can't believe
they went ReBoot season 3 on us
, lol

Yeah "Trickstar" felt like like filler more or less, plus it felt pretty meanspirited on how Star approaches the "antagonist."

Thankfully, "Baby" was another great episode.
We knew Eclipsa was the more evil queen of the past, but didn't think Star would take up after her.

And now I gotta check out the episode that's already in the app.

Update: And just watched it. Lol, I think this would have given me the most laughs out of all the season 2 part 2 episodes so far, had I not watched this at 1AM. Can't disturb anyone after all.

Running With Scissors is one of those episodes I've have loved to see expanded into full length, albeit there's definitely an effectiveness to the route it takes within the small run time, totally caught me off guard. Definitely recommended.

Link at the end of Ocarina of Time has nothing on Marco, 16 years holy shit. If they commit to show potential effects this may have on Marco in future episodes it's a HUGE game changer. Also, between ripped Marco, the literal firehead newcomer (whom he spent almost 2 decades with offscreen) and Star's lustful reaction (which I fucking loved of course), these 11 minutes of screentime are gonna turn into days' worth of content for the fandom.

Was able to check this out and holy crap. :O

I wonder how this will affect his behaviour since he is usually has confidence issues, especially with Jackie at the time. Hopefully it will be a good mix.

But the main question is, will he keep those piercings LOL

Well, after week 1, things are already getting interesting.

We have Star trying to reach Glossaryck, but he is content to remain with the book. Is this some more training for Star, or is something else going on? I assume Glossaryck must have a plan. We also got to see Star dig deep and force her hand through the spying spell window. I am glad we got to see more of the monster side of things with the alternative monsters who are fans of Star. The Monster needs some fleshing out.

The only noteworthy thing from the second episode was Marco's stance on love. I wasn't expecting such a cynical view from him.

The magic test Star went through was also interesting. We got to see more 'negative' charged magic from Star, before she dug deep again to complete the test. Eclipsa was mentioned again. So Star is showing parallels with her dark ancestor in terms of her magic progression. Curious to see where that goes., though Marco seemed to be the one that more aligned with Eclipsa's chapter when they read it.

The latest episode has some interesting consequences if Marco's sixteen year adventure and the mental growth he went through has lasting effects. Marco can now say he is a proud owner of dimensional scissors, which means Star is the one who needs to do the borrowing. Wonder if Hekapoo will show up again this season.

The only sad thing about these episodes was the lack of Jackie. Mainly since I wanted to see how Star interacted with her post spying.

Wow what a good episode.

I really hope they expand on this mentally older Marco. The comedy and plot potential is immense.

He seemed more childlike when he came back from Heckapoo's dimension, so I think it will be less "Im a grown man now" and more of an opportunity to explore what his new life goals are

The show demands that Marco not change much, otherwise there would be no interesting arcs. It's too much to commit. I mean, what a mental trip. One and a half decades of fighting, running, exploring and living life in a demon dimension. Plus, the intense tension between him and h-poo means there probably were a lot of... moments. Nothing on earth could faze him now. But then, the show would not be fun anymore.

Yeah, I'm not expecting a complete overhaul of his personality going forward, but some call backs to his journey in future episodes would be pretty cool. For example, him now occasionally using a Sword for fights is something I wouldn't mind.

I thought I knew where this show was going.

After Baby and Scissors I don't where this season is heading.

These two episodes together provide a similar contrast to Red Belt and Career Day.

While the show keeps showing Star is a screwup fighting against her future, Marco is even more worried about his future. It was brought up about bringing Star home last episode and in this one Marco looked miserable back in his small grey room.

Great episode. Heckapoo reminds me of Marceline. That scene where he finally blows out her last candle...seems like they were about 10 seconds away getting freaky.

Im almost caught up with what everyone is talking about! (thanks, yay ponies).

So im up to "Spider with a top hat" and...This show is like reverse anime, in which you get like 2 plot episodes for every 10 non-sequitor self contained ones.

Buff Frog episodes are the best so far, his and ludo's character development are pretty good right now.

Seeing bits of what y'all are saying about the current eps seems like im in for something good pretty soon.
