Star vs. the Forces of Evil |OT| I'm From Another Dimension

I'm mostly curious about the ending...

So when Glossaryk is greeting Ludo, was that sarcasm or is he somehow magically compelled to obey him now?

For the new page

The most heartbreaking thing was
that she basically had it in the bag but then after seeing Marco and Jackie (when they were trying to assist) it then goes fucking south in the worst way
.

Also its crazy how much of Toffee has rubbed off on Ludo now.

He says "Surprise" in a similar way Toffee did and he also played with Marco's emotions (Star is in danger) to get want he wants similarly to how Toffee played with Star's (Marco will be crushed) to acquire and destroy the wand.

And apparently Janna grew on the creator and her staff so much that she was propelled to the spotlight more.

https://ohmy.disney.com/insider/2015...orces-of-evil/

It’s cool because we’re getting to explore characters that were a surprise to us. Like Janna, for example, we just liked her so much we started writing her in more. Those little discoveries are always fun.

This article is from the Blood Moon Ball premiere so its been a while.

I think its a mixture of both since he's responsible for teaching users of the wand and ludo technically is also a user.

But IIRC Queen Butterfly mentions he's "not very useful" at guiding and he's willing to go against their wishes if he deems it necessary so i could see him just be a fucking troll to ludo, which ultimately doesn't help him.

We'll see though

Credit to magicgumball. I had the same idea yesterday but was too lazy to put in the work.

I took it as a callback to the Mewberty episode when Marco first meets Glossaryck: he greeted him the exact same way and Marco corrected him the exact same way.

So happy for Marco, but I didn't expect Star's sadness to hit me like that. Props to her for handling Ludo and his pets like a pro, though!

Also, confirmation for Jackie being a sexual deviant; I mean, did you see that foot-on-thigh action?

Right!?!

Got himself a chill, early blooming, freak!

Star can go ahead and sit her ass on the failure throne Finn JUST got off of.

^ looks like photobucket resized the comic to be suitable for ants

For those who want to hear it outside the show, Brian H. Kim uploaded the song: Waiting For Me

Good pipes. No full version, though. Shame.

I'm just glad Ludo is actually a threat now. Like, Spider/Bird still get a little too romper-stomped for my liking but Ludo more often gets his licks in and actually won the day this time so that's a good step in the right direction.

Tbf he was very close to losing though but taking advantage of your enemy's predicament to get the edge is a good change.

Also Toffee has rubbed off on him big time.

AU = Animated universe?

Alternate Universe

Season has been a bit hit and miss for me but god dam that was a good episode glad I stuck out, Ludo finally becoming more badass. and actually being a threat. Star better not ruin what Marco has got going on now.

Ah, is that like the comics and stuff? I thought the main team was helping with that alternative stuff already?

IIRC unless the creator's (Daron Nefcy and her staff or Disney themselves) have coined that term for those other forms of media (and even then they could be seen as official) AU is instead used to reference universes created by the fans.

So things like ships, history, characters (especially children) , etc aka fanfiction.

"Hungry Larry" character concept artwork

Posted earlier today. Take note of the designs for Jackie (despite not appearing in that episode):

Either someone on their creative staff loves the idea of ocean/fish imagery for Jackie or they're trying to hint at something here.

It's a fan comic. AUs is what happens when someone comes up with an interesting take on an existing concept and other fans pick it up and go from there. I've already seen fanart of these fan-invented characters.

Hmmm that would be interesting but i'm not sure about the certain humans not being humans angle (IIRC there are already fan theories of Marco and Toffee being somewhat related).

Zootopia has them in fucking spades with (entire stories) now and the few i have checked out are pretty good imo.

I don't put too much stock in it either since they've established Jackie has been around since Marco and her were kids, but I'm already seeing some fans theorizing she's a literal mermaid or some kind of aquatic monster in disguise - and thus the perfect obstacle for a Mewni princess.

Oh, well I try stay away from most of the fan stuff. Some of the stuff is good but most is usually wish and fetish fulfillment. That blog that Psxphile posted is definitely one of the better ones I've seen though.

OMG, I loved Marco's grand staircase entrance; you don't usually see that done with male characters.

That was a great episode!
Definitely worthy of being called a mid-season finale.
I honestly didn't expect Ludo to ever become this dangerous, and I'm really loving it. Hopefully the hiatus isn't too long because I can't wait to see what happens next.

Man...I really wish this series (...andstevenuniverseforthatmatter...) was like this all the time.
Slice of life, comedy, sci-fi, action, fantasy, lore, and plot progression (for the lack of a better term) don't have to be completely separate elements; if this episode is anything to go by, these things can obviously mingle with one another in a very cohesive and compelling way.

And we are back to shipping, such is the circle of life :P

I get you but i also honestly don't think something like that being consistent is very feasible though and those separated elements are usually used as breaks/breathers (some will rely on more elements to do this than others).

This episode feels like a melting pot of all those elements so far finally exploding and for me at least made it more exciting, along with the changes in the status quo and what will further result from that.

I might be alone in this thinking though so *shrug*

I mean, I was indifferent to Jackie and shipped Marco and Janna hard but this episode was amazing for bringing out some great elements about her. There were a couple episodes before that she got some good development like the cube one and...another...one? I forget which, but this episode she really bloomed out a ton and I LOVED her genuine like of Marco tied with her recognizing his nervousness and uncomfortability and her sort of...guiding and making him feel okay. It was really nice to see that.

I just hope they don't go with the "Jackie is actually a shit person" angle if they decide to break them up at some point...

All this Jackie development would feel like a slap in the face.

I would rather have Star grow out of her Marco crush, than Marco burning bridges left and right to get with Star, but that's just me.

Also thank god Janna replaced Marco's shitty friends

Nah, you're not alone. Combining all those elements isn't always easy and some of them can be sidelined in the process.

I personally don't mind slice-of-life centered episodes since it's great for character development. Showing character's actions in everyday situations really opens up their personalities.

A little progress in every episode definitely wouldn't hurt but then the writers might rush the story too much I guess.

I found a non-ant version of that earlier comic. It also has a lot of other great comics.

I'm not gonna image it because it's broken up into a ton of pieces and it'd a pain in the ass, but here you go.

http://moringmark.tumblr.com/tagged/star-vs-the-forces-of-evil

His blog has already been linked here two times before that comic was posted. It takes less of a day for one of his comics to gather over a thousand notes, he's quite popular and has a high output so we're going to be seeing his stuff a lot. So y'all better get familiar.

I'm also fond of Spatziline's art

Completely agree 100%, On a side note I remember never really liking Kim Possible and Ron getting together because I liked them more as friends.

That would suck, and this show hasn't been that lazy yet.

Also, Star is kind of a shitty person herself. She's entertaining and funny to watch, but the show doesn't shy away from showing her unlikable qualities.

Last episode showed a bunch of different notes/spells in the books.

Have they ever been that detailed before? I wonder if it's a bread crumb for future storylines. Last season they mentioned what to do if you delete gravity and Monday they actually showed how to reverse it
(DO NOT just turn gravity back on is step 1)
.

Skulls on Toffee's shoulders had diamonds (Moon) and spades (Eclipsa). Wonder if monster descendants of Eclipsa were granted some privileges by the royal family and either Toffee attempted an uprising or Moon overreacted.

God I love all the cartoons these days with deep lore

Does this show have continuity and lore like Steven Universe?

Not quite as layered as SU but there's definitely a narrative being revealed in the background regarding the world of Mewni, the monsters that rebel against the aristocracy and about the magic wand itself. Meanwhile there's been mysterious murals, supernatural shit and callbacks to past events within the show's timeframe as well, some that seem to be setting up future plot points.

And yup ditto on the showrunners making the smart decision to remove those bozos. Quite frankly they kind of reminded me of Snips and Snails from MLP, in that they were probably going to be major male characters. Expect Marco's friends were twice as obnoxious. Doesn't help that they were a fat and skinny duo as well. It's funny that both duos were stripped of the status of being major characters after the first season, though maybe Marco's friends might have it worse, as unlike Snips and Snails, they haven't even made an appearance since that episode with the field trip. Would be great to know what exactly got Marco to break ties from his old friends.

So after seeing this thread earlier in the week and finding out about this show I have become really interested in this.

Watching the show on Disney XD is not an options. What options are available for a guy who wants to follow this show online, legally of course? My online show exposure comes from streaming services like Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Funimation.

iTunes, Amazon and Hulu (1st season only apparently) have the episodes.

the prices for the first 2 options are either each episode or by the season so if you can deal with the prices then you should be good.

Don't expect to see Season 2 episodes on Hulu until long after it's finsihed its run on Disney XD if Hulu's Steven Universe offerings is any indication.

iTunes or Amazon it is. Never got something like this from Amazon before, hopefully there is no difference between Amazon.com and Amazon.ca for this.

Edit: Looks like there is a difference so iTunes it is for me.

Edit2: Bought all the seasons and have watched all the episodes. This show is so good. I can't wait to see what comes next after that bombshell of a mid-season finale.

Sorry for the bump, Star-GAF, but just caught the mid-season finale, and holy crap! Never ever expected this little show to hit Gravity Falls levels of awesome, considering my doubts early in the series...

Also, confirmation for Jackie being a sexual deviant; I mean, did you see that foot-on-thigh action?

The one that got me was Janna slapping Marco's ass in the bathroom. I'm not sure if anyone else caught it, but when Janna tells Jackie about the instances (she says "smell his butt" or something) you can see the salt on Jackie's face for a split second before the scene changes. Wonder if Janna's crusing for a bruising soon...?

The young boy did it!

Right!?!

Got himself a chill, early blooming, freak!

Star can go ahead and sit her ass on the failure throne Finn JUST got off of.

I still can't believe it! Of all of the nerdy, dorky males that Animation-GAF embraces, Marco Diaz brought one home for the land!

So, to count off:

Finn the human: FAIL
Mordecai - DOUBLE FAIL
Dipper - ehh - we'll give him a draw - he got as much as he was gonna get...

And totally agree with the posters above - the character growth on both Janna and Jackie has been incredible - considering how they started off as side characters. Man, if only that was done with another beloved Disney girl whose background was like 80% mysterious:

latest

Good luck to the guy making that AU, fans gonna fan eventually.

Eh, GF-GAF should be well familiar with Moringmark. Hopefully, this time around, he wouldn't be bullied into quitting comics again...

Nice to see another fan and yea that mid-season finale was pretty good.

Man ever since Finn pulled that shit i haven't cared for that stuff in this series in a long time. Its unfortunate Jake's arc of being a dad didn't last due to the nature of his kids.

Double of not giving a shit for Mordecai since he fucked that up not once but twice
poor C.J :(
. Instead i'm all in with Rigby's adventure and proud of the guy to finally see the light and become a somewhat better person in the process.

As for Dipper its unfortunate
that the series ended because i would like to see him and Pacifica some more.

I wasn't really aiming that at GAF peeps since i will usually assume they are cool people (usually) but its more the internet at large and given your last statement, i might not be far off in wishing him that luck :/
