Star vs. the Forces of Evil |OT| I'm From Another Dimension

Those last two episodes were top tier not just for the show, but for animated shows in general.
Ludo has become such a sympathetic character since the first season, especially after seeing his family. Still hoping Jackie comes out on top, but honestly, all the characters are so cool that I don't really care who Marco ends up with.
It's probably Star though.

I actually wouldn't blame Jackie if she got jealous of Marco's devotion for Star. Not only has Jackie's screentime since Bon Bon been very limited (thus implying Marco doesn't see her anywhere as often as he does Star) but even when she does appear Star gets the upperhand; consider her kiss with Marco in Just Friends and the pizza nuggets bit in Starcrushed, in both instances Marco leaves her alone all of a sudden to go pay Star attention (and in the latter he doesn't even have the courtesy of telling her Brb). The same happens after their first kiss in Bon Bon and when he rushes after Star at the end of the finale, but both are more understandable given what's at stake (not that the confession of Star in the second makes things any better).

He does something similar in Raid the Cave at the beginning, but he did say he would call her back.

I really hope Jackie and Marco's relationship will continue and survive until at least mid-season 3.

Jackie was pretty much absent from season 2.5. Their relationship was only shown in three episodes after Bon Bon... I need more Jarco in my life. They're too cute together, and Jackie was just now showing her dorky side since she's now super comfortable with Marco.

This is what's going to make Season 3 quite interesting early on.

How are they going to deal with Marco patching things up with Star? Jackie now knows and she looked pissed when Star publicly announced it to everyone; she will not be super supportive of Marco going after Star after that. They do have a good bond and it's clear both care about each other.

Marco said in the live blog thing that he is growing up for the new season, so maybe him confronting Star and repairing their friendship while still going out with Jackie might be what happens.

Does that make Janna
MJ
?

Ha that actually makes sense! The awesome supporting character whose friends with both protagonists.

I really hope this season is about star letting her Crush Marco go, and Marco learning to balance his relationship and his need to save Star.

I've seen the "guys gets with another girl but then..." story over and over.

I really want to see some form of moving on like what Dipper tried (and some times failed) in Gravity Falls

Also PLEASE don't turn Jackie into the jealous annoying girlfriend so that we have no choice but to agrre with Marco dumping her.

You just put my feelings into words better than I could have done myself. Jackie doesn't have much screen time but I really like her for the small amount of times we see her. I really hope she's more than just a small detour to Starco. Also her design is too good to just end up being some throwaway love interest.

Oh man, the fight between Toffee and the Magic High Commission is really awesome.
As much as I loved StevenBomb 5 (I wanna reiterate that it was really, really great), I was disappointed by the lack of a legit fight scene.
This really scratched that itch for me. haha

It's great how they've managed to develop so many of the characters. They've definitely come a long way from where the show originally started.

lol
That badass laser sword fight they had makes me want to see Queen Solaria the Monster Carver in action.
She looks like she was a beast.

Also yeah, Queen Moon is the business.
They've done an amazing job at developing her, and Grey Griffin just nails it with the voice acting.

I hope we get to see Star transform for battle in season 3, her butterfly form being used as the cliche "lol, aliens have weird puberty" episode was meh, but seeing Moon transform in two different occasions makes me want to see Star transform for a big fight.

It hit close to home because of all the RPG moments I've had where I'm trying to revive memebers of my party as they keep getting KO'd

Was the news story critical in it's commentary? Positive? Neutral?

It's fairly "matter-of-factly" really, at least this particular newscast. Basically saying a recent episode of Star Vs. had the honor of being the first Disney-related media to portray a same-sex kiss between both two men and two women and break what was once thought to be a Disney animation taboo. No idea if that episode actually aired in Mexico or they're just responding to the hype surrounding the U.S. broadcasts.

This other blog suggests it's being reported on by other outlets. So it's getting a lot of exposure (relatively speaking) over there.

lol liked that one a lot, but yeah I'd put a lot of money down on the likelihood of Star going toe to toe with Toffee or some other big bad in her butterfly form.

But if Moon the undaunted could barely keep up with Toffee I can't see Star- a character who had trouble with a completely inexperienced magic-user like Ludo- in her butterfly form doing any better against him.
Maybe the secret will be Star tapping into a combination of light (pink) and dark (green) magic to give herself the edge.
Maybe even her ability to use her imagination to create spells will play a big part.

I know, right?
I felt the same way.

I hope we get more of Toffee being a totally composed businessman. My favorite scene of him is still him casually putting his tie and jacket on the clothes rack.

How did they get away with the shots of Moon and Heckapoo's dead bodies

Nightmare fuel
By having them be revived a few seconds later to show the audience "they can be brought back, relax!"

Plus it helps it with the black eyes kids (plus concerned parents) would think that toffee magically drained them or something not killed them even if it was obvious they were dead.

Season 2 is amazing. I love how the show introduced the Magic High Council and then gave each member their own highlight episode.

Book has some show lore hidden within it's pages. Besides most of the ancillary characters getting last names (even Tom), it seems to detail some behind-the-scenes stuff regarding Mewni's monster clans and briefly touches on Tom and Star's relationship prior to the break-up.

also what did she mean by this???

It could be seen as 2 ways imo.

1. She's not a lady out of her time due to "grandma" being used as somewhat of an pejorative to infer that.
2. She's not an actual grandma (aka having grandkids) yet but she's aware its happening soon and looking forward to when it happens.

I feel its more 1 but 2 would be fucking hilarious.

Something I really like is that, outside of any secret machinations or hidden plans, Glossaryck was played completely straight with how he said he was earlier in the season; I believe in some episodes he made mention that he's just the book's guardian and shit and he doesn't have any personal investment in Star or whoever uses the book, it's just his job. And then he gets stolen and teaches Ludo and when Star goes
to rescue him
he's like "Why?" The dude really was played emotionless.

I liked that because so often we get shows where a person says they're emotionless or that they're not friends or they don't like the person and then after some heel turn the hero reaches out and is like "But really fam" and then they cry and shit and become a good guy. And this time it was just like "Nah bro"

Well, i guess it has to do with the fact that he is the most powerful being in the Multiverse, guess that really makes him de-attached and "having a job" just makes him keep his sanity.

I mean that comment was made by Star, so...

That whole book is weird. It's full of cool little details and lore but also more than a few bits that feel a little too much for a Disney book. Like Janna referencing (not) drinking alcohol not very subtly at all. I mean it's funny and all but also a little concerning lol. What's going on over there at Disney, S&P department all get fired or something?

I can't with this...lol

Keep at it buddy, you'll get better.

Man, the guidebook seems pretty dope.
It has some very interesting stuff in it regarding the lore of the show.
