Star Wars Battlefront II |BETA| Execute Pre-Order 66

I'm a huge fan of space battles and how well ships control with mouse and keyboard.

Sadly I don't think that's enough to urge me to buy the game.

I loved the first one but this one feels less exciting and compelling to me. With the addition of loot box roulette. Not sure if I wanna buy it now.

Another 3 games with camping heros. What is even the point if you're just going to do that? That said the droids/ clones> Alliance/ First order.

I tried all of the solutions floating around the internet and the only thing that worked was a factory reset, which was a huge PITA. Even after that, it only worked for me the one time I booted it. After that I gave up on the Xbox version and just been playing it on PC.

Finally got in. Had to reset the Xbox.

Snap judgements after a single game: The game feels overly quiet and bland. It felt like I was playing with the sound off which is weird for a DICE game. Both movement and aiming feel kind of bad somehow. I don't know what they're doing with these games. It's less bad than Battlefront 1 which I found to be unplayable.

Is it just me or is this really dull? visually its stunning but it just feels boring
Also, theres no option on PC to select a joystick for the space battles, erm, WTF

I even enjoyed the previous Battlefront beta even though i could feel it would get boring but this is a lot worse,i dunno.
Also can see this cart shit all over the place and how it will be prominent in the game, open up those wallets lads

Boring is exactly how i'd describe this game.

The space battle was better but still very shallow. Goddamn i want a flight stick and keyboard for this.

Just make an Xwing game with modern visuals.

Why is this so hard?

This is my biggest complaint right now. I can't understand this decision.

I can kinda manage to do U-turns manually in a starfighter, but it's a bit of a hassle. And I know the more casual friend I play Battlefront with is absolutely never going to get the hang of it.

The quick U-turns made Battlefront 2015 feel a whole lot like Starfox 64.....that was one of the things I really enjoyed about it. Everytime you did one it was this cool cinematic little moment......the visual of U-turning now just looks really clunky as you flip and clumsily push the left stick to get the ship to roll back into a right-side up position.

They're gonna have to introduce a decay timer. Force people to get int he action and be aggressive. Maybe kills add to the timer or something.

It looks amazing, runs well...but fuck me it's so boring.

yea was really looking forward to this but unless you are die hard Star wars- gotta have everything SW- fan, this is shit imo...

op crates, and heros not available half the rime when you have points, too short time to kill. choke points and mauling everywhere. no strategy

i'm out

Downloaded beta on PS4. Sounds like I shouldn’t waste my time with it? Haven’t been home to play it. WTF happened?
How is a Modern day Star Wars with space battles spanning all three gens boring ?

im not going to even try the space battle without using my x52 lol, but no

I’m so glad they put out this demo.

I now have no desire to buy the full game.

Why on earth would they put a demo level in the game based off the most hated Star Wars movie?

I won’t even get into the loot crate nonsense.

The gameplay alone is bad enough.

The movies were meh but they had cool stuff in them, especially for a lot of people who grew up with the Clone Wars cartoon. The beta having PT stuff in it is not the problem. I don't want just the originals again with the tiny bit from the new movies.

Trying to play this on XB1 but I am lagging so bad that every couple of steps I move forward it’ll bounce me in a different direction. It’s even bouncing me up against walls and stuff.

My son is playing just fine on our other XB1...should I just delete the game and try redownloading it? I don’t lag like this on any of my other games and when I test my connection it says it’s fine.

How do you get to be Heroes now on the battlefield?

Is it still with pickups? I have yet to see a pic up, but see people as heroes

I played the Xbox One version for a while earlier, and I'm really enjoying it.

You need to earn points to purchase them. They're on the right side the class select screen.

You have to pick them at the respawn screen. Beside the four classes there's other options for heroes and vehicles, and they each cost a certain amount of battle points (which accumulate while playing). Heroes cost 5000 battle points, but I think you can only have one of each hero in play at a time.

Even after only a couple of matches, I found the whole thing quite underwhelming

I don't know how they did it, but the movement and aiming both feel so stiff compared to the first game.

And the graphics are kinda weak, even with HDR enabled on PS4 Pro. Once again I found the beta from the first Battlefront to be much more impressive.

oh ok thanks I did not notice that

I loved the first game... I haven't been really sold on this one. Seems...really bland. I also don't know if I like the change to the card system and making everything revolve around loot boxes. especially when there are clear combat advantages at stake.

Oh I wouldn't argue with that. The point system is awkward in a sense that the team with the better players get more tools to stomp the other team even harder.

I have seen games where one team is running two heroes in phase 1 while the other gets them in phase 2 or even 3 if its ridiculously unbalanced. But I wouldn't say the alternative is better (random or hand me out heroes) as that often lead to frustration because heroes were being completely wasted by someone.

I would say a good Maul is what can easily win phase 2 and 3 for CIS.

So Palpatine still has his dash, sadly without that harrowing scream.

Actually around the 4 minute mark when he does his dash if you listen very carefully you can hear the scream

They definitely need to rethink the availability of heroes. The current system sees them absent for 2/3rd of the match and then the last portion is endless hero spam, making defeating one less of a relief than it should be.

So things went pretty well I think for my first match.

TIL a ton of people loved the first game apparently. I had always been under the impression that it wasn’t widely loved here.

I figure it was kind of a "love it or hate it" game. Personally i liked it a lot, despite its flaws.

This one doesn't feel like "more and better", unfortunately.

Gotta agree with I suppose the half that came away underwhelmed. Played about 3-4 matches in each mode and then uninstalled(PS4 Pro).

The shooting feels off, just not enough visual feedback and some confusion surrounding certain actions, even the killcam is hard to really parse. Felt fighting on Theed against the droids was super difficult to make anything out(like rebels in on Endor in BF1 I guess).

Certain environmental animations like leaves swirling and birds flying were nice, but overall the environments looked kind of drab and too uniform. Yes the stained glass interior windows looked alright, but the palace came across as very fake feeling, very empty and unnatural. Just not very lively or feeling "ripped from the source material" as many of us felt with the first game. Hopefully its a Beta thing, but eh.

Actually had the most fun in the Arcade mode trial against AI. It was easy, but it was relaxing being able to chain headshots and actually use my abilities more freely.

I do kind of prefer more traditional squads to this respawn system. Someone mentioned it leads to bad behavior(rushing in to close the gap in haste, only to die en route or get antsy upon finally arriving at choke points and feeling time is wasted).

This and Mario were my two easy purchases this fall. I'll now hold off for final impressions from GAF in the OT, but plan to likely wait for a sale. Not impressed to join day 1 and I really just wasn't having much fun in any of the matches and modes played.

It seems alright. I'm having fun atleast. Naboo inside palace would be great as a Strike, but the whole map itself is pretty bad imo. From what they've given us, game is like a 7.5/10 but I won't know until launch.

It’s like they took everything that was good from the previous entry and just changed shit just for the sake of changing . Over 200 hours in the first and after theee matches I couldn’t bare anymore of the beta . Has to be the quickest beta I’ve ever deleted . Guess those 60 bucks will go to something else .
