Star Wars Kinect - New gameplay footage

Seriously, I'm in favor of another video game crash at this point. I really hate where the industry is going, and I got a back log to catch up on anyway.

I can't understand anyone who has this point of view. You want the entire industry to die just so they don't produce games that were never targeted to you? Way to cut off your nose to spite your face.

Your backlog better be huge if it ever happens because it would take a hell of a long time for the industry to recover from a 80s level crash.

:l

Star Wars not taking itself seriously is fine, but there's a line - this seems more Star Wars Christmas than the Rogue Leader intro.

But anybody thinking Lucas would step up to the plate here needs to wake up - he firmly believes these are children's films, so this is just a natural progression. Fans are the only reliable custodians of this franchise left. I guess i don't understand why this game had to do so many things, versus just doing one really well.

I think I officially hate Star Wars now. Not that I wasn't against what was going on with the franchise before, but now...I just retroactively hate it all. Thanks George Lucas!

Hold on, I'm gonna relay the message to Mr. Lucas.

...

Nope, sorry. He's too busing coming up with new ways to kill the franchise while counting his money to give a damn.

:(

Sorry, I can't reconcile these 2 halves of your sentence. He's killed Star Wars but it's making him so much money he doesn't care?

Logic failure.

Wow, that Han Solo vid...just...wow. The gameplay, the animation, the models, everything is just hilariously bad. Even worse, they will still make tons of money off of it.

I really need something to cheer me up. I need something funny or fun to do, because these kinect star wars threads have felt like someone's been punching me in the face all night.

I hope this is at PAX East this weekend and I hope Terminal Reality people are there and I really hope they're near-suicidal from the non-stop badgering to fix Ghostbusters, because I'm going to push them right off that edge.

I'm curious as to what is defined as a "hardcore" game. Back in the Dreamcast era, Rez was considered a hardcore gamer's type game. You know, something that doesn't cater to those crazy casuals and would only appeal to giant nerds like you or I. Child of Eden is pretty much Rez with different visuals and style, only you control it with your hands instead of a gamepad. If anything, it's closer to achieving synesthesia that Tetsuya Mizaguchi was trying to achieve with Rez.

Seems like they delivered to me. Maybe not in the quantity that we'd all like, but they did deliver. Crimson Dragon is also on the way, so it's not like they aren't trying.

A couple of rail shooters means that "they delivered"?

He's killed everything that fans loved about that universe. The only thing that hasn't been destroyed yet is the KOTOR era because Lucas basically hasn't touched that.

He's still making a ton of money, but he has slowly destroyed everything great about that franchise to do it.

Now he's more Businessman than Film Maker...twisted and evil.

Whats wrong with GB?

I just got an email from Play to say my Star Wars Xbox has been dispatched. Hopefully it'll be delivered tomorrow.

I've managed to keep it a secret from the bloke for the last 3 weeks, he's going to be so surprised!

Cannot wait to get on this.

Is it too much to ask for a good Star Wars game? Between this, the disappointing Force Unleashed games, and Unlimited Spark working on Battlefront III, I almost wish they'd stop making Star Wars games all together.

Star Wars MMO by Bioware with full voice acting maybe?

Thanks goodness, just sold this turd this morning to some unsuspecting gentleman.
I told my son I sold it and he didn't even flinch.
If MS is going after the wii crowd with this they better be careful because my son would cry if I sold his wii games yet he never ever asks for me to turn kinect on even if it is for star wars.

Looking back at Terminal Realities history it has occurred to me that this is their second big outing with Microsoft. Starting with Fury3 they did a whole slew of games specifically for Microsoft (Monster Truck Madness, for instance). They eventually broke off and started to work for various other publishers but they really never have had a big hit. It seems to me that this project could either save or destroy the company as they really haven't had their hands on much of interest for years now. Ghostbusters was average at best and most of their other recent games were ports or knock-offs.

I'm glad I'm not one of those hardcore Star Wars fans who can't have fun with anything. This looks absolutely hilarious. Bought!

Also, good point by P1P Phil: "People complaining about the Star Wars Kinect dancing game forget that the Holiday Special "ruined" Star Wars a year after the first movie."

oh man someone gif the dance sequence from 1:25 on forward...

I think what makes this so frustrating is the realistic looking characters.... I think if they didn't go for a realistic artsyle for this mode, some wouldn't make a big deal...if it were cartoony then it might have not been a big deal.

but when you see a realistic looking Han Solo dancing and moving like that....its like someone is forcing you to forget your memory of what you remember of Han Solo....that is what might put Hardcore Star War fans off. I never pictured him moving his hips like that.

its like taking a Hardcore Death Metal legend or Country Singing legend and digitally making him sing and dance to some rap shit. His fans would be LIVID!

If I was Harrison Ford...
Hell, if my name was Han, I'd sue the fuck out of LucasArts for that.

George Lucas owns the likeness of all the main characters. Lucas even released a crotchless Slave Leia statue that was "feature complete" which Carrie Fisher objected to but she was powerless to do anything. Its one of the reasons why Mark Hamill will never voice Luke Skywalker. He would have to pay Lucas a fee to perform as himself.

Very few MMOs interest me and I'm not a PC gamer anyway, but that probably is the only Star Wars game I'd dare touch these days.

Good grief, what is with this dancing crap. I thought this was suppose to be all about being a Jedi and immersion into the Star Wars universe. Did they realize that they couldn't make that work at all and decide to turn it into a dance game cash-in because of how popular those are? How pathetic. Just call it Star Wars dancing and be done with it.

I'm not a big MMO fan either, but you can get a really solid single player experience out of TOR playing though any of the 8 story campaigns by yourself. And to be fair gameplay wise the dancing doesn't look bad when compared to the light saber battles hence why we're seeing a lot more footage of it.

Not a one of you can deny the simple power of this lyric from Star Wars: Kinect:

Better days are gonna get better.

Enough said.

The planets in Star Wars The Old Republic are so barren and devoid of other players that it's pretty much a single-player game with a chatroom.
