The three-pronged saber didn't bother me (much) in the first trailer, but seeing it up close makes it look really silly. It's obvious that during a fight, the opponent's blad will slide along the main blade and cut the guard in their non-laser part.
So the "mini sabers" are useless as a guard, and I doubt they can be used to poke at opponents...

None of these are going to be the theatrical poster, which I believe is being revealed at the first panel later today. This is the kind of shit you buy in the walmart poster section, or on those little plastic folders you buy for your kids.

The blade doesn't emanate from the guard, the guard covers the blade to protect the hand of the wielder. If another lightsaber cuts through the guard, it will still be stopped by the blade internally.
