Star Wars The Force Awakens: SALARY, how much they got paid.

You're not paid what you deserve, only what you have the leverage to negotiate

Makes sense the 2 leads didn't get paid much, hopefully they use this as a launch point for their careers going forward

I looked up Mark Hamill's salary for TFA and many websites say that him and Fisher each got a low seven-figure salary.

WTF??

Makes sense within the context of the movie, but also the fact that Ford probably has the better agent. He has the leverage to command what he makes.

Not just a better agent, but an active actor with notable screen pull. Fischer is essentially retired from acting, and Hamill's main work has been either guest roles or voice acting, for, like, the last few decades.

Wow Harrison, I'm a bit anoyed that
Harrison probably added to the deal that he wanted out after the first movie (making the Kylo Ren killing him very predictable)
, also Carrie should have not complained about being pressured to lose weight getting a 1 million check for her role.

She didn't complain, she just mentioned that everyone brings it up and its an annoying conversation (which I'm sure the implication of "you used to be fat" is probably annoying). I'm sure she was happy to do it for a million pounds.

~ spoiler warning ~

Mark Hamill makes more standing on a cliff looking dramatic for 10 seconds than I do all year.

Boyega and Ridley are basically set for life. How well they handle it is up to them, but most people would love to have the setup they have at their age.

Besides, at some point money isn't everything. To be a main character in a giant franchise is pretty cool. Worth more than any salary to me.

Not happening. All these cast members get locked up into long-term deals for cheap.
Is this true?

If so, that sucks. I mean sure they're not big names and are probably just happy to be in SW at all, but it still sucks that they're getting paid so low for such a franchise.

I hope it boosts their career but it might not, there's almost no precedent of that except Harrison Ford.

Natalie won an Oscar, right? I believe she took time off by her own accord to have children, right?
Natalie already had a serious career before Phantom Menace. No one who was an unknown before, ever got their acting career boosted from Star Wars except Harrison Ford that I can think of.

JJ Abrams: was paid £3.3 million to direct + 2% of the film's gross

WOW.

How does the % of gross work, though. Is it a running total you get paid weekly? Do you get one lump sum after the theatrical release is done?

Having seen the film Harrison performance was not worth 16mil. It was just an average performance.

But then, in Hollywood, deserves got nothing to with it.
