Stardew Valley - Switch Version Releasing Thursday (5th October)

Stardew Valley |OT| Phantasy Farm Portable

I bought the game on PC a while back, but have still never played it. I'm thinking hell yes to the Switch version.

this is such a great game to be playing on a handheld

this + Odyssey is really tempting me to buy a Switch

Who else is going to play for the first time? I hoped for a Vita version last year way so I hesitated on the PC version, but being on Switch is even better.

i've been waiting for a mobile / portable version since it came out. i own it on Steam but never got into it because i was waiting for this.

I am! Same situation as you, though I will gladly double/triple dip for a physical Switch/Vita release.

Might not be able to play Day 1 though since I want to wrap up Ys 8 first.

I bought this on PC earlier this year and played for 2 or 3 hours, then stopped as soon as I heard it was coming to Switch. As a huge Harvest Moon & Animal Crossing fan, the wait to see what all the hype is about has been brutal.
Same here. Tho tbh it's not really a game I want to play sitting at a PC, even tho I liked it. And while I have controllers, it was too much of a pain to plug my PC into my TV (have to haul out a longish HDMI cable.)

Figured switch was a better bet.

I'm not going to pretend I won't be picking this up—of course I will, even though I had to force myself to go cold turkey on this game last year after putting in, what was it, a 70-hour week when I first bought it and getting to the point where I felt I'd essentially won the economic game by filling a whole greenhouse with Ancient Fruit and Starfruit year-round. (I should really dig up that file and get to Year 3, which I still haven't seen.) Time to run a second farm in parallel, try a different biome, side with corporate greed, marry the girl I should have gone with in the first place—you know the score.

But one thing I'm eager to hear about is the controls—specifically, things like touch-screen support for inventory management. When I played on PC there were clearly some things I preferred to do with a mouse and keyboard but clearly some others that I felt would be a better fit for a controller. For such a supposedly relaxing game I tended to play frantically, squeezing out every last drop of time out of my day, working out that StarCraft APM, dumping items in chests or machinery before I ran out the clock at night, using the entire number row on my keyboard and wishing I had more keys. And I haven't seen how Stardew plays on existing consoles, but I don't know if buttons alone would suffice without a touch-based quick-select on the toolbar. Has anyone heard if this is in?

"Portable Safe to Drinks"? That doesn't make any sense.

Steam World Dig 2, Golf Story, and Stardew Valley total $50. That’s a damn good value for the trio.

All of you (correctly) regarding Dig 2/Golf Story/Stardew as a ridiculous run for the eShop library really need to get your arses over to Thimbleweed Park. Do it now before Stardew hits or you won't be able to make any time for it. Now.

Another loaded week for the system (and I'm sure we'll get more):

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (Tuesday)
Axiom Verge (Wednesday)
Tumblestone (Wednesday)
Volgarr the Viking (Wednesday)
Ninja Shodown (Wednesday)
Stardew Valley (Wednesday)
Metal Slug X (Wednesday)
Oxenfree (Thursday)

I most of these are PC ports, including Stardew, but they're going to sell.

...holy shit.

Is there a concise list anywhere of all the Indies coming out this month ( or at least a few weeks )? I had no idea Axiom Verge was coming out on Wednesday.

Switch is the biggest money-sink I've ever owned.

I have a friend from a foreign country staying with me this month, but when she leaves I'll have Steamworld, Golf, Stardew, Axiom, Picross, and freaking Odyssey to all marathon through! That's on top of the SNES Classic games I'm still eager to play, my lust to do a hard-mode run of Samus Returns, and my final Xbone game (Cuphead) before I sell that sucker off.

Factor in additional Splatoon updates/Splatfests and the upcoming Zelda DLC, and I won't have to suffer a single dreary second wasting my thoughts on this hell hole known as "the real world" for at least six months.

Based Nintendo, keeping me from achieving my life's potential one game at a time <3

It could be this or Ranch Story for the double references!

Heard a lot of good things about the game. Will be playing for the first time on the Switch.
