Well, several things:
1) They expand the scope, there are "stretch goals" which define how the money will be invested. So the product you'll get will be presumably bigger and better than it otherwise might have been
2) They have more money to make games going forward, which I guess you can look at as an investment in company stability.
3) It's actually not a bad thing if someone KSes something for $50 and makes $50,000, as long as backers get the thing they paid for. Like, if I'm backing something for $10, what everyone else gets should be pretty insignificant to me, it should be about whether I get my $10 worth. Like, KS is as much a pre-order as it is a funding mechanism. We don't expect that a non-KS game that is extremely profitable rather than just break-even to tell us what they did with the profit, we typically just allow them to take the profit because as far as we're individually concerned, we got what we paid for.
I'm willing to bet money there won't be any extra, in fact that Kickstarter money (most likely) won't even cover the remaining development cost even though they already have the engine up and running etc.
Regardless, you are allowed to make profit with your Kickstarter and you are allowed to treat is as a way to mitigate putting your own/company money into development. On the board gaming side, Kickstarter is used as a store front more often than as an actual Kickstarting platform. And Kickstarter doesn't mind, they get a slice out of every successfully funded project.

It's a turn based game, Xcom proved that controller functionality is totally doable for the genre and they've already made ios touch versions of the last 2 games so it's not like they haven't done some work before to accommodate for other control methods. bah.

Really enjoying Grow Home. I don't think the art direction is quite as refined as a lot of other low poly flat shaded work but I guess that's a trade off when you allow the player to procedurally modify the landscape.
It's nice to just play something whimsy and reminiscent Mario. I think the controls are a bit bizarre but it's just nice to play something a bit different.

Yeah I actually really enjoyed what I played of it. Only huge issue I had with the game was it's load times, but I was playing on PS3 so I doubt the PC version has that issue if you have a halfway decent harddrive.

I'm already loaded on capcom-produced 3rd person action games between Bionic Commando and Dark Void but i've been considering picking up LP3 once i finish up those two. Everyone talking about how it actually has a decent narrative and that it plays alright has had me interested in it for a while.
There are still chances of happening! And, well, if it doesn't, there's always the Vita* version!

You can't use any weapons at all(other than the knife) throughout the playthrough.
Don't save anybody and Tyrant won't show up at the helipad.
