In connection with Mr. Cook's appointment as Chief Executive Officer, the Board awarded Mr. Cook 1,000,000 restricted stock units. Fifty percent of the restricted stock units are scheduled to vest on each of August 24, 2016 and August 24, 2021, subject to Mr. Cook's continued employment with Apple through each such date.
Eh, I would have held out for an even 400giga said:$383 million is decent.
I guess it could have been worse.giga said:$383 million is decent.

well the gave him shares, not cash. and he's the pilot of a billion dollar ship that has to continue to make money. if he's good at his job and everyone makes money, I don't see any problem.Benjamin1981 said:383 million is disgusting.
Sorry to hear of that man.Coldsnap said:Fuck... that picture... I watched my father wither away to cancer and seeing that picture brought back a whole slew of emotions.
blahblah...blah said:Did nobody read that he can't vest half the shares for 5 years, and the remaining half for a further 5 years? It's not like they just handed him a cheque for $383 million!

Same.Kifimbo said:Hope it's mostly a consequence of treatment.
I lost my grandfather to cancer and saw him go like that too, but I can't even begin to imagine it being my father. My condolences.Coldsnap said:Fuck... that picture... I watched my father wither away to cancer and seeing that picture brought back a whole slew of emotions.

Nah, that's nonsense in my opinion. But whatever.Tobor said:If he runs a company of this size well he deserves to be compensated accordingly.

The same can be said of nearly every other job, except in those you can work for a lifetime and expect to make a tiny fraction of that amount.Guardian Bob said:That's a lot of money, but it would still be a hard decision to make. Your away from your family most of the time, you're not getting any younger, and the pressure is immense.
Guardian Bob said:What's nonsense is how much sports players make. Some of them will make more money than the CEO of Apple in that time span, and they play a freaking SPORT.
LCfiner said:theres been no reports of him going through chemo.
the issue with his recent weight loss has been some hormonal imbalance where his body has problems with protein and he cant gain weight.

krypt0nian said:This always rings false to me. XXXXXX amount of money comes in. Who should be getting this money then?
mrkgoo said:Maybe the argument is not who gets the money, but if an excess amount of money is coming, why not lower the costs for entry for the people? That is, alter xxxxxx. Obviously, as a consumer, one would say that.
I'm not personally against people making whatever money. Some people make money in a week than I will ever see in a lifetime, without even lifting a finger. That's life. Some people are also dying of starvation, so who am I to complain?
krypt0nian said:That's totally fair but unfortunately the market supports the ridiculous prices for sports tix.
Yep, was the same for me. My dad looked as frail as this just before he died.Coldsnap said:Fuck... that picture... I watched my father wither away to cancer and seeing that picture brought back a whole slew of emotions.
My dad's hair grew back very quickly after treatment, so he could have had chemo at some point. Then again he could be having radiotherapy instead.Salvor.Hardin said:Regarding the picture, why does he have hair? Is he not going through chemo?
mrkgoo said:Not eating meat probably doesn't help. Not saying you can't get enough without, but it's not a secret that meat is protein.
Come on, they're a business. Its not about respect, they don't owe Jobs anything. Yeah, it sucks he looks really sick. But I'm not sure why that earns him some special paparazzi immunity.JonCha said:TMZ (or whatever) have pissed me off posting that picture. A lack of respect or what?
LCfiner said:yup. I can imagine doctors just throwing a basket of falafels in front of him and telling him to get to work.

Celebrity industry sucks, I'm with ya' but I am genuinely confused by the outrage in some of the posts I've read here. Cancer happens. Everyone will watch someone they love go through it at some point. Don't take it so personally when some random celebrity gets it.
