I'm also just in a bad mood.
Theyre a "news" sight. Not posting something like this wouldnt make any sense. They almost have to do it.JonCha said:TMZ (or whatever) have pissed me off posting that picture. A lack of respect or what?
Pazuzu9 said:Yep, was the same for me. My dad looked as frail as this just before he died.

Same.
I lost my grandfather to cancer and saw him go like that too, but I can't even begin to imagine it being my father. My condolences.
If he does poorly as CEO he still falls back on a vast fortune. If most people screw up at their job suddenly they can't buy groceries or pay their mortgage.Tobor said:I will never in my working life face the kind of pressure Tim Cook will face as CEO of Apple. Not even close. And I've had some stressful jobs.

Got home from work, excited that the weekend was starting and saw those pictures...bionic77 said:Real sad seeing those pics.
Cancer is the worst. Reminds me of those horrible Swayze pics before the end.

Really dude? Really? The company then and now is totally different. Now they are built solidly on best selling, top rated products and being run by Steve Jobs personal crew.MisterOmegaOne said:when Steve Jobs resigned from Apple that one time before, the company was headed for disaster

this is how I'm going remember Steve from now on
aside from the dudebro helping him keep his balance, this is roughly how he's looked for awhile actually. we're used to seeing him in jeans and a shirt, but he's been skin and bones for some time.NinjaFridge said:If that's a real picture then i wouldn't be surprised to see him go in a few weeks.
The stock price already rebounded in one day from the idiots who panicked and sold.MisterOmegaOne said:when Steve Jobs resigned from Apple that one time before, the company was headed for disaster

they're a publicly traded, multi-billion dollar company with a charge to do what's best for their stock holders, bond holders, employees and customers. they'll fill the position again.ivedoneyourmom said:That's exactly the reason.
It is an honorary position - No one has held that position since Steve got back at Apple. I expect that Apple will simply leave Steve Jobs that position forever, and that no one else will ever fill it again.
No it won't.Epix said:Mind you, that's just his BONUS. He's salary will be tens of millions a year.

He got $58 million last year.NYR said:No it won't.
Steve Jobs' annual salary: $1
You think he would take more then Jobs? Not a chance.

Oh now that's an interesting twist. I didn't realize this was a position that has been unfilled for a long period of time.ivedoneyourmom said:Why? They haven't used it at all. Why do you think they will need to find a replacement for a job that exists for a month or two while Jobs is still barely alive.
might be.Squire Felix said:

In that case, you guys might be right.
Wikipedia.com said:On August 24, 2011 Steve Jobs resigned his position as Chief Executive Officer of Apple.[106] He has been replaced by longtime Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, and Jobs is now Apple's chairman. Prior to this, Apple did not have a chairman and instead had two co-lead directors, Andrea Jung and Arthur D. Levinson, who continue with those titles.[107]
Pheonix said:Indeed - its not the same as retiring someone's number or something. There is a very legitimate reason for 'someone' to be in that position - especially at Apple's size and scale.
I NEED SCISSORS said:That picture is sad, I had no idea he was in such a condition.
I understand the need to keep his health under wraps for his privacy and to prevent people being worried (and to an extent keep stocks afloat), but it does seem like we've been lead along by overly positive PR.
I thought he beat the cancer, was only suffering from a 'hormone imbalance', and was doing well after his liver transplant?

If he does poorly as a CEO, he won't last the 5 and 10 years required for the stock options to vest and he'll be ousted before the stock options vest. That and the stock is only worth more the better he does and less the worse he does.RomanticHeroX said:If he does poorly as CEO he still falls back on a vast fortune.
