TMZ (or whatever) have pissed me off posting that picture. A lack of respect or what?
Theyre a "news" sight. Not posting something like this wouldnt make any sense. They almost have to do it.

Yep, was the same for me. My dad looked as frail as this just before he died.

Sorry to hear about that. It's a hard thing to go through...

Sorry to hear of that man.

Goddammit. :(

Same.

I lost my grandfather to cancer and saw him go like that too, but I can't even begin to imagine it being my father. My condolences.

Thank you

I will never in my working life face the kind of pressure Tim Cook will face as CEO of Apple. Not even close. And I've had some stressful jobs.
If he does poorly as CEO he still falls back on a vast fortune. If most people screw up at their job suddenly they can't buy groceries or pay their mortgage.

I feel so sorry for him!

Real sad seeing those pics.

Cancer is the worst. Reminds me of those horrible Swayze pics before the end.
Got home from work, excited that the weekend was starting and saw those pictures...

It feels like someone punched me in the stomach, I feel terrible, just the look on his face. He just looks tired.

Man that picture, I didn't know he was doing that badly. I guess not even all the money in the world can beat cancer.

Eh, a guy like Tim didn't get where he is today if he didn't like the stress/pressure. Some people need that in their lives and actually enjoy it.

i would sell my stocks naow
Really dude? Really? The company then and now is totally different. Now they are built solidly on best selling, top rated products and being run by Steve Jobs personal crew.

I hate to say this but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go in the next few months from his current state (if the last pic is real).

I'm no doctor though and I hope I'm wrong.

That pic kinda looks shopped to me. I've never seen steve wearing shorts.

Based on your post I'm guessing you're young. There are plenty of reasons why you shouldn't sell your stock in Apple. The company is in an entirely different position now than it was back in '85.

Right now I might just build a webpage myself to do the hosting, but if that doesn't pan out probably just youtube since other video sharing sites have such limited space/bandwidth.

you've probably said already but what sort of stuff is in this collection? is it all video?

lock up your daughters. lock up your wives.

this is how I'm going remember Steve from now on

wow at that picture. If he were that sick why would he have them elect him to the board? It doesn't look like the man has a much time left at all. :( sad to see.

If that's a real picture then i wouldn't be surprised to see him go in a few weeks.

aside from the dudebro helping him keep his balance, this is roughly how he's looked for awhile actually. we're used to seeing him in jeans and a shirt, but he's been skin and bones for some time.

I visited the Apple campus for the first time this past Monday. When I got there I nabbed one of Steve's customary parking spots, which kind of made me laugh. But I also had this weird feeling like something was going to go down with Apple. Two days later Steve resigned.

The stock price already rebounded in one day from the idiots who panicked and sold.

That's exactly the reason.

It is an honorary position - No one has held that position since Steve got back at Apple. I expect that Apple will simply leave Steve Jobs that position forever, and that no one else will ever fill it again.

they're a publicly traded, multi-billion dollar company with a charge to do what's best for their stock holders, bond holders, employees and customers. they'll fill the position again.

Mind you, that's just his BONUS. He's salary will be tens of millions a year.
No it won't.

Steve Jobs' annual salary: $1

You think he would take more then Jobs? Not a chance.

So does an NFL quarterback. And just like a pro athlete, most people can't do the job of a CEO.

Why? They haven't used it at all. Why do you think they will need to find a replacement for a job that exists for a month or two while Jobs is still barely alive.

Indeed - its not the same as retiring someone's number or something. There is a very legitimate reason for 'someone' to be in that position - especially at Apple's size and scale.

Oh now that's an interesting twist. I didn't realize this was a position that has been unfilled for a long period of time.

In that case, you guys might be right.

edit: woops misread that

I saw a few people on my FB feed that said something like "shoulda invented a dont get sick app"

im seething with rage

It's just my guess, who knows what they will do, but to me it appears that way.

On August 24, 2011 Steve Jobs resigned his position as Chief Executive Officer of Apple.[106] He has been replaced by longtime Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, and Jobs is now Apple's chairman. Prior to this, Apple did not have a chairman and instead had two co-lead directors, Andrea Jung and Arthur D. Levinson, who continue with those titles.[107]

If it were any other company, and if it were any other man, I'd agree. But this is Apple and Steve.

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

That picture is sad, I had no idea he was in such a condition.

I understand the need to keep his health under wraps for his privacy and to prevent people being worried (and to an extent keep stocks afloat), but it does seem like we've been lead along by overly positive PR.

I thought he beat the cancer, was only suffering from a 'hormone imbalance', and was doing well after his liver transplant?

People like Steve Jobs, not that i know him but you can tell he is a workaholic and completely dedicated to his job, dont quit.

This is probably the only reason why he stepped down :(.

So sad, he is an inspiration, fuck cancer, killed my grandmother too.

Yeah, there is all kinds of not right with that photo of Steve....that is a picture that you never want to see of anyone you care about, not good.

If he does poorly as a CEO, he won't last the 5 and 10 years required for the stock options to vest and he'll be ousted before the stock options vest. That and the stock is only worth more the better he does and less the worse he does.
