I remember when my N64 got sodden after being aside an open window in the middle of a storm, it still works to this day and age...

Why did Nintendo stopped "using Nintendium" in the Wii era? I still remember the OG DS eventually breaking one of their hinges, then Lite again but less frequently, that didn't happen to me but to like 4 of 6 of my friends at the time.

But is that a hardware issue? You'd think this was something on the software side seeing how this occurs with pretty much all their controllers, apparently even if they're hardwired like on the Lite.

Oh is that what stick drift is...I have this as well.

A mild inconvenience, to be honest. Still, I fully support the revolt against this. Nintendo should be ordered to fix this / compensate consumers.

Man, it's difficult not to have a love/hate relation with Nintendo.

I guess they had already started production before NoA admitted the fault.

It's been thought to be a hardware issue for awhile.

Had thought about going ahead and getting one or these a few weeks back since no Pro, but wanted to wait and see about this issue. Guess that will definitely be a no from me now.

Not unless they were already in production, how could you screw this up again? Even then, just delay the thing until you get the problem fixed. Hopefully the class action is successful and they have to pay out the asshole for this.

Well damn, I guess new Switch revision also has this problem. So far it was just the left joy-con, but It looks like the right joy-con also affected now. You can't just buy a new joy-con for Switch Lite and "fix" this issue cuz you need to buy a new console! And you can't buy a new pair of joy-cons for 80 fucking bucks cuz they'll also and 1000% have this drift issue. WTF, Nintendo?! How can you fuck this up again and again? Sort this shit out already and make these goddamn sticks unkillable! For Christ's sake, man:messenger_face_steam:

Can we be sure this is real, and the guy didn't mess with the calibration?

Never seen drift on the right stick.

On my original Switch, both the left and right joy-cons developed the drift and I don't even use them that much since getting a Pro Controller more than a year ago. Been thinking about sending them in, but not sure it's worth bothering if I don't use them much, and if whatever they do to repair them is just a band-aid on the process and not a permanent fix.

isn't this company known for repeatedly dropping their devices to ensure that they can survive several falls?
now their hardware's breaking all on its own
The tablet part itself can survive high drops from the sky as tested by Youtubers it’s the Joycons that broke, the Tablet was fine itself

I don’t know if they can make tough Joycons that will survive a fall tbh, especially due to the way it connects with a railing system.

lol. also the dpad is having issues. best to just avoid the Lite completely it seems :messenger_tears_of_joy: it's not even a real Switch anyway.

nintendo are fixing it for free if you send your controller in to them. so not really a big deal. if you're one of the few people with this issue just send it off to nintendo.

edit: of course if you bought a Lite then well...send your entire device in :messenger_grinning_squinting:

yeah, the lite is for kids who will lose or lose interest in it in under a year anyways.
The drift on my switch is tolerable as far as occasionally using it on the couch or on the toilet goes. the PowerA wireless gamecube-shaped pro controller is where it's at.

There are different levels. When it happened to me, it behaved as the joystick was pushed fully in the up direction when I wasn't touching it. This literally made most games unplayable.

Yep saw this coming as well I'm afraid.

There's no excuses for this and I think this will blow up on them this time.

Take it to twitter to explain your disgust. They won't like a negative image on their new product.
They won't be long responding.

I think they have this completely coming. I've never seen a Nintendo system so shoddily made.
I love the Switch but I have my own issues with mine ( Controllers keep disconnecting in handheld.. both of them if you so much as move the thing is any strange way)

I got my right stick gone mad on me.
What I did was - I pour some ethanol in the stick and in a couple of minutes the ethanol vaporized and the stick worked fine.
Just a tip.

Umm. I don't understand, where's the drift? The person did move the right stick on the left for a bit. As soon as the person stops doing that camera stops moving.

I've encountered the drift myself on the my left joycon, recalibrated and fixed.

My left joycon drifts AND loses signal all the time.

My WiiU gamepad and 2 WiiU Pro Controllers have problems with the sticks. All of them, to the point of becoming unplayable.

My GameCube controller, on the other hand, still works perfectly after more than 15 years. So does my wired Xbox 360 controller.

It's not a Switch exclusive problem and not a hardware unexpected defect, it's Nintendo being cheap as fuck.

Bro, it's been a love/hate relationship with Nintendo with everything post SNES. It's to be expected by this point.

I'm not sure what video you're watching, but here you can clearly see the camera panning without any input from the player.

This isn’t a new phenomenon. We’ve been dealing with this issue for a while. The only fix is replacing the stick.

A mild inconvenience, to be honest.
No, it’s not. The video is showing the barest beginnings of drift. It gets far worse. Eventually a drifting controller is nigh unusable.

Hmm he did move his finger just a tad bit more on the left. Unless this is a start and later revolves into something worse?

I'm sure I have the same issue then, but that also applies to many controllers that I have. Looking back I still can't see the unintended drift. He really moves his finger more, and it automatically stops. I thought a drift is when you leave the stick and it will still moving.

Kind of funny since just yesterday or the day before we had people like spukc calling Spawn Wave a idiot for saying this would happen after hardware breakdowns........

Looks like I was right to skip the lite. One of these days Nintendo will release a Switch worth owning.
