So, STP has disbanded is what you're saying, because they may as well not exist without his voice.

Well, they're not really STP without him. But I like his solo stuff (minus that shitacular Christmas album), so hopefully he goes back to doing that.

Also, STP without Scott became Talk Show for a while and they kicked ass. Army Of Anyone was also pretty good.

This is a good thing?

To be honest, they made better music when he was drugged out of his mind. Then he got off drugs for a bit and made that shit album "Tiny Music... Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop".

Army of Anyone's album was fucking awesome. The Deleos need to get back with Richard Partrick and get on that since Filters' music isnt as good as it used to be either really.

And hasn't Weiland been fired from the group before?

There were some good songs on there actually.

But anyway, yeah, this band is defined by his voice. So STP is gone (again).

I loved Core and Purple.

Saw them live on their first tour show to support Purple. Was an amazing show. The Meat Puppets opened, they were pretty good too.

Their drummer was unreal. See: Naked Sunday.

Last record was completely non-collaborative and they've been touring with the greatest hits county fair set for like four years straight. Would rather have a new AoA album than more STP if this is as good as it gets.

I saw them a couple years ago down here in Florida and they put on a fuck awesome show. Weiland had just been released from rehab a few days earlier. Shook his hand and everything. Ah, memories.

Do all of their songs sound exactly like Pearl Jam or just Plush?

Poor bastard to just stop at that song. They did go through a phase in their first album or 2 where they were very Grunge influenced, but afterwards... no, not so much.

They became more like...alternative rock/post grunge, power pop.

Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart is on that album, so it wasn't all bad..

Their first two albums are classics though.

I only know it because of GTA:SA :P

God no, that song was horrible. They were a alt rock band, then morphed into some odd glam rock band with that album. You can tell people hated it because 4 was back to there old sound.

I love it because it's such a drastically different sound than Core or Purple. Plus that video is hilarious.

Although on the whole, Tiny Music is definitely a weaker output overall than the other albums.

Up through No. 4 they were pretty great. No. 4 sounds like listening to a really talented band just jamming in a garage. Great sound.

This news sucks. I was hoping even if they weren't going to be putting out new albums that at least they'd be touring once in a while. I saw them 3-4 years ago and they still put on a fun and energetic show. Weiland still sounded great, despite his issues.

STP was a pretty unique band. You have to respect their ability to evolve, even if they lost you somewhere along the line.

Lol got to love late 90's music videos. Interstate love song is also very odd, he's a smurf and some creeper is throwing a suitcase around.

I was one of those weird people who got into music very late... and my first taste of STP was the songs of "Tiny Music" and I worked my way backwards from there sorta.

So I don't have the hate for the album, but yeah... overall its not as good as some of their other efforts.

I respected their appreciation for good pop songs, and not just be a macho hard rocking band all the time. They clearly loved the British pop.

I saw them last year and although they sounded amazing, they acted like they were phoning it in. None of them seemed to care about the actual performance, and Weiland didn't make any attempt to connect with the audience. I guess they were all looking to make some money and figured they could do that with the tour. Problem solved! But I had a feeling they wouldn't make it much further.
