Street Fighter V Beta IV Thread: Jan 30-31

Man your Chun is a thing of beauty. I've recently converted to a stick and I can't for the life of me pull those low mid air lightning kicks. Just gotta keep practicing I guess.

Great vids! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Here's something for the IA Legs I use sometimes, you can do up forward, then do a 360 motion going down back to up forward and then MK and it works.

Some matches from me, all Chun v other characters

Nice matches sabot.

You solidify why I hate playing against Chuns, the worst matchup because I don't have a consistent answer for air legs. Not easy to react online. That ability is just asking to be spammed online for a 'get in free' card. I counted one match you used them 7 times (1 was dropped). Darn! I'll have to go to training mode to find a way, Chun doesn't just get to do what she wants anymore! Game is still fresh, there will be answers to this soon enough.

I can feel Tampa's rage from here. So hard to get in on a good anti-airing player sometimes with Bison :).

True to that, I've found in the mirror match that Chun already has a built in easy answer to IA legs via her 4 frame st.lk. Perfect hitbox trajectory and frame startup to stop it preemptively or perhaps even on reaction.

More vids coming quite soon, found an upload schedule / quality that is working for me.

Wish I got my Tampa Bison matches. He was the only Bison I was able to beat LOL

I got PxG Ice once, I remember having trouble with one bison player but it definitely wasn't him. I think it was that ArtofWar guy, and it was mostly because lag.

I only lost to one Bison, a Fox971 guy. I think a lot of Dictator's who played him prior are still adjusting to having to play Oki.

Honestly, it's good that Mad Catz is saying "we're working on it!" but even Hori sticks that work in Street 4 don't work in the Street 5 beta after three attempts. I'm not holding my breath on them working on launch. And it's shameful Microsoft hasn't released a driver update for arcade sticks to work on Windows 10 because Killer Instinct isn't out yet. This means there's gonna be at least a month wait for people hoping their sticks will work on PC versions of fighters due to Killer Instinct.

PS3/ PS4 sticks work fine on Windows 10 as long as the game has DirectInput support... unless you're talking about Xbox One sticks?

Second batch of vids incoming:

Chun Mirror 1 vs ExecDecision: one of the consistent top chun players through all the betas.
Chun Mirror 2 vs DrunkenBanana: Haven't seen him before this beta, but saw him pop up on a lot of top player streams.

vs a good Necalli that was hiding in Casual Matches

The "I got bodied" Chronicles:

vs -Work-'s Cammy

vs Kurokiba's Necalli

One more group of uploads, saved the best for last. Did not save matches that were streamed out by other people already, so no me vs Justin Wong 1 and 2, though I'm sure I could find the archive if someone wants it.

I played against the same Birdie player Nutrient. I hit him with like 5+ CC st.HK's on wakeup lmao

next match he adjusted tho

we played most of the same people from the beta's lol. Against Tampa Bison I really didn't expect him to play so patient, a lot of Bison's were rushdown/dash dash into my face, but Tampa didn't really do much and I ended up hanging myself

damn is every necalli jump in free to st. lk?

even the crossup got hit :/

To all you guys that got into the beta. Were private lobbies in the game yet? I'll be buying this on pc and a friend of mine is picking it up on ps4. I'm wondering how this cross play stuff is going to work.

Last batch of shameless Dhalsim plugs:

vs Karin
vs Vega/Claw
vs R. Mika
vs Necalli (different one from before)

I'm far removed from K. Sabot's or Count's mastery for a number of reasons, but I tried to pick the entertaining matches or those where both of us displayed some understanding of our respective characters. Can't say I encountered a lot of variety during beta 4 unfortunately: matchmaking paired me against R. Mika / Karin / Charlie / Necalli the most and comparatively speaking everyone else was very much the exception. Only fought against one experienced Zangief too, but we got disconnected midway as luck would have it.

The option was grayed out. No word from Capcom on how non-automated cross-platform play is going to work, but at minimum I'm expecting something simple like what Rocket League does. Namely, allowing PS4/PC players to look up the name of a lobby and entering it with or without a password.

I like how you did an ambiguous stomp into jump HP.

It was something I worked on at the end of Beta 3 after I was finished playing matches.

I actually didn't play a single match the last day of this beta, just sat in training record mode doing research for my matchup notes.

I'd say my biggest problem matchups this beta were against Karin and Ryu. Karin in that I don't have a handle on all of her gimmicks yet and Ryu in that I don't like playing the "stuff the fireball" guessing game that is the mid range poke game.

No, I'm talking stick support in general. Ikaruga my Hori RAP4 PS4/3 mode will have the stick continuously say I'm pushing up even if I'm not giving an input for that or other directions.

Street 5's beta THREE TIMES didn't support it (because they're going with the "standard" that is the X360 controller/Xinput).

Other such issues for arcade sticks on PC. I'm hoping MS fixes this with their "Killer Instinct PC support" driver thing they said they're working on. But it's been two years since they've announced that and I'm getting pissed because sticks on PC really should just work out of box with no issues/lack of support.

I played as the 2nd player in record action mode.

It gives you 99 seconds to do whatever you want with them until you have to reset.

Do you have any suggestions for me - from Chun player to Chun player? I know her aa options, but anything besides that? Which air kicks do you suggest the most? Low, mid, or high? In your Laura vid against AutoMattock, at the beginning of the second round you start out with air kicks and it looks low. Am I correct?

Also, oh shit, you can AA with lk and then dash under for a cross up.

How should one play Necalli? are there any character breakdown or high level videos I should watch? like when I got my shit together he felt like a corner preassure beast. Crush counters for days.

My PS3 TE2 has worked flawless on Windows 10 since launch day... tons of people use PS4/ PS3 devices in USF4, Xrd, etc on PC. I can use it fine in SFV as well just as long I use Joytokey- but it's inexcusable to launch the final game in that state.

There are certain motherboard chipsets known to have issues with DirectInput devices- but that's totally unrelated to Windows 10.

Mid kicks. Allows you to do it lowest to the ground. LK kicks falls faster but is a higher height requirement, also moves you forward less. I use LK in some situations where I'm super close to them after doing a cross-under.

edit: unrelated but here's a video of me doing the IA kicks in beta 1, i didn't learn it in a day lol. Took all 4 betas to get where I am now, excited to take some of this stuff to my local scene when they get together and start doing tournaments again.

I told you that during your stream :(

High kicks stops you in the air, there is very little fall down speed.

Good for staying above stuff like Nash's ex sonic boom, but that's about it. EX is the same, but wastes meter.

What about high air kicks as AA? Seems more risky than lk. Or would lk kicks be better for that?

LK / MK would just be better all around, HK legs to catch them out of a preemptive jump and they'd probably fall to the ground faster than you and punish.

ksabot how prominent were necalli divekicks among the top ranks you played?

Some started using it near the end of the beta, but it was mostly as a means to get my st.lk AA to whiff. I didn't ever get punished by it, just had to block after.

Would you be willing to fight me when SFV drops so I can learn the basics of SFV Chun against a skilled player? Would be great at learning her weaknesses as well.

Then how do you explain the fact that my round 1 TE worked in Windows 7 but doesn't work in Windows 10? My hardware hasn't changed.

Chun and necallis normals are the thing that I hate most as someone who played Nash during the beta.
As Nash you still have good normals to combat it and moonsault plus a teleport mix up. With Ken who has a less safe approach and stubby normals the struggle is real.

Necalli is much more defensive than you think, see Alliounes play when he took him to #1 in Beta 2. He has his mix ups, but if you have a lead, he can play lot like Honda.
