Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

SFIV had permanent Big hand/feet codes on. Ryu and Ken were actually based on Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble.

Everyone makes fun of the big feet and hands but they're there as a visual cue so you can easily see when attacks are coming at you and landing.

People could barely get fights if they were lucky enough to get in, and they need the data. I'm sure they'll run it again full the full time.

Flowchart fighter IV:

hold down back 2 Jabs/Short => Opponent blocks => Stay safe reset try tactic again.

=> Jabs/Shorts land, 1-frame, finisher.

GOOD RIDDANCE

But it still works in SFV. At least with Ryu, he has plenty of ways to hit confirm into specials with light attacks. I discovered plenty of ways very quickly in training mode for standing or crouching opponents. It's just the range in which you can use multiple light confirms is gone, but light confirms themselves are still a thing in SFV, with Ryu anyways. And Cammy as well since the pros during E3 that used her were all doing jab jab medium punch spiral arrow.

You need defense because people know how to defend against you? That logic doesn't even make sense to be honest. Also, shoto players wanting more options, wow.

Your general defense as a shoto is the fireball game + dps for anti air. The last thing we need is every shoto having a parry; they made Ryu's parry kind of limited as it is because it's already more than he needs. It seems like they're forcing it to make the Evo moment 37 possible. Ryu is supposed to be fundamentally balanced, not overpowered. And Ken is supposed to be fundamentally balanced while skewing toward the technical side of offense. They're not going to play the same, they don't need the same options.
I'm just making conversation man, why does this post sound kinda salty? You lose to shotos or something?

And that was my point in general, Ryu feels very balanced, while I'm not sure about Ken because I haven't used him and don't know how effective Run will be.

Not to forget Birdie. He probably got the best cr. light right now.

I managed to play a bit last night.

First impressions: The screenshots and movies online don't do it justice. It looked WAY better than I was expecting...Not that I thought it was going to look bad. It just surprised me how clean and mature it looked.

It actually reminded me of Street Fighter 2: Hard lines but somewhat dulled color palette and a mature look and presentation to the characters. I am really digging it.

Kinda bummed after managing to get into the game finally, I had to put the controller down and attend to something and when I cam back I had been kicked out of the server. Heh. Oh well.

Please list one on your combos with ryu that you can land two crouching jabs, link into another normal and finish with a special.

Playing some rounds in USFIV to pass the time but everyone on PS4 has fisher price Internet. Ugh.

I noticed net play on USFIV PS4 has gotten drastically worse the past few days. I thought it was something wrong with my internet, but there have also been a ton of new players on. I'm still getting good connections with some people.

So uh

Is that a decent explanation? Last I checked that's not making the world of difference in connecting to a full server, but one of you might know better than me?

As in: is that a valid counter to the whitelist accusation?

Just trying to help. I've played about 20 matches and have now streamed SF5 for 24 hours in total over the past 3 days. Infiltration got way more games, so I'm pretty sure regional/geo targeting has something to do with the SF5 stuff. All we need is more server space so everyone can get in.

As a European trying to play the beta and reading the delays

Yeah, it's been though indeed. All I managed is 20 seconds in the training room with Ryu vs Chun. Let's hope for more luck when those five days kick in.

SF3 absolutely aged better, but I've always found it to be a prettier fighting game. I am having much more fun when I load up SF3 on emu, or OE when I had a PS3 still.

True 2d, hand drawn awesomeness. Just very low res nowadays.

This reminds me that we should start bugging Capcom and Sony to do 3rd Strike OE (and SSFIIT perhaps) for PS4 (and VITA) as well to complete the SF set so to speak. Would love to play that game on newer platforms because I agree that it has aged wonderfully and still deserves to be played.

This time on pc too.
Otherwise why even bother?

Damn 3S on Vita would be awesome. Awesomeness on the go.

Port forwarding helps with connecting with more people while matchmaking, it has no effect when trying to connect to a server full on connections. :)

Okay my luck isn't that bad, I'm honestly just curious at this point. I mean, I can't say I mind it if well known streamers can get into lobbies, moreso just curious :V

No, that just makes matchmaking better so you can get more matches and probably get booted out of the server less not counting resets.
