Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

Got a long ethernet cable and just ran it from my router and now all matches are smooth as fuck.

Now if the game actually bothered to match me with someone more often.

I wish that SFV Beta would allow PS3 Stick to work with for now since it's struggling for me to play with controller.

MadCatz, please step up with your restocks with PS4 sticks so I could actually buy one for myself.

im not great at sf...but i guess there are lotta noobs on. :)

beating them using pad...ugh i've always hated using bumpers and triggers every since SNES days. feel handicapped. probably should get a ps4 compatible stick. winning does raise my self-esteem though lol

I think I'm finally getting the hang of birdie. I used grapplers a lot in SF4 so I'm used to command grab mixups. Now I just need to figure out his combos

Definitely getting used to the mechanics. The possibility for comebacks are still there, but you gotta earn it. People falling for that V-Trigger full fireball from Ryu all day, though. That won't last.

I played Denjin Ryu in 3S, so this incarnation of Ryu playing in a similar manner really helps me. It's also astoundingly easy to get a stun chain going. Ryu hits like a fucking truck.

Tried some Cammy and Nash, and I like both, but I would need way more time with them to get used to them. But it's almost R. Mika time. When they add her, it's booty time. #TeamHometown

My favorite move is baiting the heavy Tatsu with Ryu. Just full screen back, wait for the projectile, then heavy Tatsu around it for the hit and then they're just confused and stuff. People are catching on, but it still gets them pretty reliably. Beware the heavy Tatsu!

So I preordered the beta from Amazon.com.mx and still haven't got the beta code...
Anyone else from Mexico that faced a similar situation? Or is it Amazon.com (us) only?

Wow, did Ryu's c.MK range increase? I'm actually hitting shit with it now lol.

It's just in your head or you're having better success with it now. The range is still the same, I just tested it. It whiffs at the same range as st. LK and cr. MP which is exactly what it was like before. And that's the same range where his st. MK and sweep will reach.

I've lost every single match. This is effectively my first time playimg a fighting game. Am I destined to get shit on for eternity?

Yes for like a week at least if you're learning the game.

I've played with people over years of SF4 that never learned and were always bad though.

Also if your PSN name is your gaf name, good game because I fought you earlier.

Got one match in 20 minutes,i'm probably getting matched only with Brazilians :(
i want to play North Americans to lagg them all and get faster matchs.

OK that is weird

Go into training mode and start using crouch short as close as possible to Ryu's feet. Depending on who you have (I am using Cammy right now) you will see that her boot goes way into Ryu's front foot.

Now set the dummy to crouch, and you will see that Cammy's boot actually hits from where you expect it to hit; this means Ryu while standing doesn't have a hitbox on his front leg.

Try to not waste too much time getting into the right range cause some of the idle animations change the hitbox.

It is. Playing as Cammy. Shit, I suck lol.

Yeah....just checked again to make sure and it's still the same. :(

When Cammy is crouching, I think her hitbox actually extends just a square in front of her. My crouch short hits her without seeming to touch her.

Hope Capcom makes the hitboxes more closely match the models.

I started taking fighting games seriously when MvC3 released. It has been a long road, but I am a solid player now and consistently stomp noobs. Don't give up!

Street Fighter 4 for me. I played games like MOTW and Alpha 3 on Kaillera sometimes, but I never got "serious" until I got SF4. Halfway decent at that game, somewhat above the line of terrible in Tekken 6, totally scrub-tier in Mortal Kombat X, learning lots in SFV.
