Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

I'm getting some weird artifacting is this normal? The vertical lines near her hair is what I'm talking about. I'm starting to see it on a bunch of characters pretty distracting. Hope my ps4 isn't melting

Love ryu's that hadoken and shoryuken non stop, birdie just grabs em and smashes him

I don't see many people throwing fireballs. Most of the time they are meaty, or in ways you cannot use the v-skills made to deal with them.

Dunno if there's a good solution to make fireball zoning more viable. Way too many chars have anti fireball tools; hell, I use Cammy's spinning knuckle mostly to switch sides, more than to jump fireballs.

I think the shadowing is intended to look like this, yeah. Even in early photos of the vs screen you could see Chun having weird dithering patterns on her face.

I think it's the shadow problem with the game. The shadows are really weird and make those dithering looking artifacts.

cr.lp b.hp cr.mk kikoken is a pretty pretty sick blockstring for Chun. Lots of pressure options off of that. If the fireball hits you can even confirm into super and it's not that hard to confirm.

Also Cammy looks like Jwong.

Ahh I think Cammy is out of my league with a dualshock 4. Can't really pull off a string of moves well.

What are you trying? I am having trouble with ->+roundhouse (double knee) into jabs into hooligan combination or spiral arrow, but I am not sure it'd be easier on a stick.

Literally every Ryu I've played against has been laggy. Every other match has been pretty good though.

I lose a lot of matches that I should win and it makes me sad. I'm like anti-clutch.

Birdie's J.mk actually just makes him un-antiairable for Chun.

He can extended it to hit you before you can extend b.hk to hit him before he can put the button out.

I wonder what Chun's other anti-air options are (if there are any decent ones). The luxury of not having to think about it and just hold back and hit HK is amazing. Living the high life after SFIV. But I haven't even bothered to explore any other buttons.

Does light kick work?

Any Cammy tips?

After knockdown, you should get in your opponent's face. It's kind of hard to close distance safely with her, so take advantage of that opportunity to apply pressure. f+hk, cr jab (or medium)> special is a good hit confirmable sequence. Standing mp, hp > special is a very strong punish. If you end with a strike you can cancel that into super for 500+ dmg.

Don't hesitate to activate her V-Trigger, but don't feel like you need to do strikes/drills/spikes just because it's activated. You get like 3 moves out of the whole thing, so take your time. Nothing wrong w/ activating it and winning with a throw or normals.

Speaking of normals, her poke game is almost Chun Li like. Actually, I'm 50/50 on whose are better right now. Standing mk and hp are very good against grounded opponents outside of sweep distance. Standing hk is a fantastic anti air that counts as a crush counter I believe.

Standing hard punch works well if they're not right on top of you. Back + hp is good too, though not 3rd Strike good.

Know that feeling. I got frustrated and mad at myself after a loss, but it helps me recognize that I have bad habits that I need to work on/get rid of.

For instance, I'm too predictable about going for the grab after I hit somebody in the air, so I need to throw something else out, or back off more.

Man cammy is awesome. Just played some dude as birdie and he couldn't even keep up where I was on screen. No lag at all. Been fantastic the last hour.

Seriously, I can't stand the cross up ambiguity right now. Loads of times it looks like it will surely crossup but no, I keep eating damage for blocking the wrong way.

Ever since late last night I've been having the same problem some of you guys have described. I'm waiting forever for matches. Before it would never be that bad. Maybe I'd get one 15 seconds later, maybe 5 minutes later. But now I'm having wait times of 30 minutes or more and it's really annoying the hell out of me. I'm so past the part of just waning to play training mode. I just want to play people now and hopefully guys who are of a similar skill because chasing after frightened newbies isn't fun either.

Haven't experimented much with anything but b.hk, but sweep seems pretty unreliable compared to sf4.

I will say I've had a surprising amount of success with st.jab tho.

don't understand what I'm supposed to do as Birdie against anybody. Everything I do loses to everything, except EX command grab sometimes. What even is the point of the spinning chain grab, it's so slow you'd never hit anything.

Goddamn bison.

I blocked this guys shit for like 20 seconds straight trying to see an opening.

Then I punished, and he does the same shit for another 15 seconds.

Why

The chain grab is for punishing. You can punish a Hadoken on reaction with it.

Why are you blocking for 20 straight seconds? Knee Press is negative on block.

Just ran into a Cammy that was obviously trying a new char/learning stuff, so I was mostly just backed off and let them roll through their offensive tech. I always feel that's a better learning experience for new characters versus getting bodied

If I'm beating someone who is clearly less experienced than I am, is it good etiquette to give them the second round? Or is the norm just to take your wins as they happen?

I don't want to just roll over people but I don't want to lose a match because i stupidly gave up a round.

Why not V-Reversal? If someone is putting too much pressure on you while you still have some V-Meter, use it to make em back off. Not a lot of people tend to use in I've noticed.

Footsie with d.mk. Force the jump, his antiairs are alright. He has good jab pressure. Jab jab light charge is a good hit confirm. J.mp is his cross up.

Forward fierce has armour, I've tried that against distantly poking Chuns.

I don't understand how I can lose so much to ryus who just jump in with roundhouse and do a sweep.

Why

I had the same issue at first. The reason why is I spam fireball too much. I stopped spamming and the issue lessened. I'm working on stopping cross ups and being consistent on footsies, cross ups.

I'm not having any trouble with him so far. What's he doing that makes the match ups seem hard or annoying?
Birdie chain can be annoying with Ryu's that jump in, and his command grab is annoying if you don't know the spacing.

But I really like the matchup for Ryu since Birdie has no answer for Ryu's zoning tools and Ryu buttons take a shit on Birdie's.

I'm having trouble adapting to the no respect players. The wakeup srk when I think any halfway decent player would block is killing me.
