Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

Yeah, keep in mind that Ono's english is very very rough so I wouldn't be surprised if his tweet didn't actually mean a full rescheduling and rather just a delay of a day or two. We'll see.

It's gonna be a while it seems.

They use the word "date" rather than "time".

Ono is so sad though. Plz give second chance.

Capcom will do it's best to fix this anyway even though it's a struggle to play atm.

Question, if you are good in USF4, will you transistion well on SFV or will it be an even playing field?

Ya Destiny was an exception for me cause the damn "beta" ran flawlessly for me as well. I'd label it more of a glorified demo than a beta for that reason. Everything worked!

And I'd label this an Alpha build rather than a Beta.

Devs really don't have alpha and beta standardized.

Gameplay-wise the game is probably in what we'd call a beta state, but structure-wise it's probably in an alpha state.

That said, would you rather have this, or have Capcom test everything by playing between Tokyo and Osaka, seeing it's ok, and thinking it's good enough? That's how it used to be done.

It's ok to be mad at this- Capcom did make it sound like you'd be able to play this weekend, and everyone's hype as hell. That said, Capcom is getting a lesson out of this before it can seriously hurt the game, and that's what important.

SFV failing would be BAD news for Capcom. They know this.

People, including myself (across PS3 and 360), were going into instances and other players were just not showing up. This went on for a while. The matchmaking that's supposed to load in and load out new players to populate the world wasn't matching people up so it was like you're playing single player.

This was also an issue present at launch for a while, though it was noticeably worse in the beta.

Was that a PS360 thing only? I swear I've never had any problems on ps4. That's why I said it was great.

I got an extra EU code, since I already did the amazon.com preorder trick.

First one who can guess one of my 5 favorite characters in Ultra Street IV wins the code!

100% this and I agree. Capcom gon learn today. I'm glad they are doing this "Beta" globally as they should for a game like this in 2015. Because they are really trying to unify the global SF/FG community with the cross-play as well which I freaking love and applaud them for it. It's gonna be a while before they figure it out I feel cause they are clearly not ready yet.

In my insanity I made this. If you know Jojo and read Japanese, I hope this gives you a chuckle through your tears.

There is no way, in the world, that SFV fails.

No way.

With the console exclusive allowing cross play, the free characters and updates, the insane thirst (40k viewers for the non working beta), the EVO hype.

And the fact that they took out the skill level that was only there for really dedicated players, making people that are beyond casuals but not "pros" a real threat to anybody now.

I can't see this fail. Also, the graphics and gameplay feel absolutely fantastic, from what we could test in the Beta out of few minutes.

The matches I played were very good connection wise. They felt spot on which was good.

This is good to hear. I never experienced one match in my 20 minutes of training mode, in fact I was looking for the fight request button towards the end and couldn't find it. Guess I can schedule date night since it's postponed indefinitely.

i don't understand people acting like they got ripped off here
yes, they used it as part of the preorder campaign, which is always a bad idea
but they didn't CANCEL anything. they postposted it. you will still get to participate in your beta test

Da fuck happened to Deep Down btw? Seriously.

I was hyped for that.
Gut reaction says that Capcom is having major issues in their overall online infrastructure/netcode for ALL their current gen games. They are just not ready or there yet with the rest of the big dogs.

I find it a little odd that people keep focusing on the word BETA and saying that it is to be expected because it is a BETA. They should maybe focus on another word like NETCODE, seeing as how what this what the purported purpose of this testing.

- You can't get mad because it's a BETA.
- This is the purpose of the BETA is to test the sever and everything else
- Server issues are NETCODE testing, the BETA is working as intended
- etc

I'm not trying to take a shit on Capcom here as well, shit happens but the defense force in here is a little insane.
All of those statements make perfect sense and are reflective of what people have been saying in this thread.

Lol, I had the 15-20 mins of training mode, thought something was up, so I backed out to menu in hopes of finding some 'find match' option or whatever. Whoops, couldn't get back in again.

I havent tried the beta, but the gameplay looks fun. Will be waiting to play it on PC myself. Not really wanting to get PS+ to be honest.

But net code is a very big deal in fighting games, so they better get a good net code for launch. Luckily this is beta, so no big deal. Killer Instinct has spoiled me with its net code though, so I'm hoping it can equal that, or at least get close to that.

They can ask Other Ocean for help, since USFIV netcode has been working so well on PS4.

It's working well but I'm just kidding. Better fix that Kagemusha you have there, Capcom!

Question, if you are good in USF4, will you transistion well on SFV or will it be an even playing field?
For the most part, yes. There will also be habits you have from SF4 that you will try to emulate in 5 which won't work. I remember when SF4 first came out, people playing Ken kept using his MP FP chain which is complete garbage in 4 but great in 3. It takes time to shake that kind of thing off, and it's amazing how the top tier players can sign up for 5 games at a tournament, jump between games with vastly different (or deceptively similar) system mechanics and do well in all of them. I, on the other hand, have tried to parry a fireball in SF4 on multiple occasions.

Ok, I'll try once again. Cammy?

Development hell.

But the game was shown played. Many times. And it looked great!

All of a sudden, silence. Da fuck.

Humm... I con't see this happening across multiple games but who knows.

As someone who does server maintenance for a living, it shouldn't be too difficult for them to get things up and running again; usually I just have to restart the server.

I even have a special technique for doing so:

F > QCF > "Reset" button

That's how you perform the sho-reboot-ken.

Good news for Ken players then, his target combo is back and good again like 3s!

Capcom should not have made this a pre-order bonus. I understand that this is a beta and was meant to test the netcode but if they truly wanted to stress test their servers they should have made it available for the general public.

I digress... this generation has turned into a shit show because of online features not being ready... glad Capcom is seeing this happen now. If they fix this beta to the point that there's smooth experience at the tail end of it... it should make people very optimistic about the retail release.

It is pretty obvious that they already did that.

The servers redied after 10 minutes.

So yeah your solution is awesome. They need to fix what causes them to malfunction, restarting them is a temporary fix.

It's not a preorder bonus for the majority of the world.
