Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

I found the secret guys; it was right in front of our faces all along!

Have they tried kicking the servers while simultaneously cursing them?

I've always found that psychological attacks work best on servers.

"YOU CAN'T EVEN HANDLE A THIRD OF YOUR THEORETICAL LOAD. YOU'RE A FAILURE, YOU'RE A FRAUD. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED."

Actually, I've never accounted for the fact that a physical beating usually follows those sorts of statements and a new server follows that.

Hmm...

So, is there some kind of sacrificial lamb I can blame for this? Ono and Combofiend are too useful and likable.

Who's the game director again?

I really hope the people that do Netcode at Capcom develop with AUTO-SCALING in mind from the ground up if they are using a Cloud service provider like I suspect they are. It is absolutely key and would definitely prevent servers going down due to overload. You'd be surprised how many big companies don't have their shit together when it comes to auto-scaling in 2015.

The Beta experience summed up

https://vine.co/v/eg5F1u27tlt

I just want to play as Nash Capcom, PLZ

Their entire reasoning behind this beta is not to simply let people play early, but to see how their netcode and servers are (which as of now are horrible). So far the entire existence of this current beta is being justified.

It's not to let people have matches necessarily, although I totally get why everyone is so impatient on the matter. I'm thankful that all of this shit is happening now as opposed to day one or even a few weeks before launch.

Yes. And my point is that Combofiend updating the blog every 20 mins or so to let us know where they're at, even if its minor updates, is better than them not saying anything at all.

Not really. Twenty minute updates are mostly worthless. It's as though they are hinting that they will tell you how much progress has been made within the previous twenty minutes, like you should expect them to be magically fixing things in twenty minute iterations. These updates are more PR than anything. Hourly updates make a hell of a lot more sense than every twenty minutes. Even that is quite a bit.

I mean if hey haven't tried everything, they haven't really tried.

Hmm...

If it works, it works. the reason why it does is on a different abstraction layer, so there's not point thinking about it.

I know just with the sad state of affairs I like to imagine this alternate scenario lol.

Yea I just gotta play the devil's advocate for the network/IT team. I know what it's like to have project management drastically under-estimate resources of any kind to make the project's value increase.

I will say that it the last day of beta be a great indicator of whether or not people should retain their preorders. Perhaps even tomorrow. If you're an online player and this beta is still rough tomorrow, wait for reviews. Network things like this rarely take more than 24h if the company is capable and serious about the performance.

Where are you guys getting the recent updates from?

When Capcom-Unity loads the OP doesn't seem to have those recent updates.

Have people had any luck here in the states since they turned the servers on a few hours ago? I tried before I left for work and had no luck around 10:30.

Wonder if having a shitty internet connection will cause further problems for me once it is working.

Doubtful. It's an issue of server capacity for authentications. Your slow connection will likely only harm you in match quality.

No luck on my end. Haven't seen beyond the title screen since 9:50 am EST. I periodically attempt to get in every 30 or so minutes since the beta relaunched.

im expecting like 2-3 more random updates and then its tanked until tomorrow

I'm betting they postpone the entire beta for a week.

I'm betting the beta is never free and clear of issues.

I'm betting the release code is still destroying their servers for the first 2 months because nobody fucking accounts for the technology investment required for their fancy new bullshit.

Holy crap. I come back to this thread a day later and you guys are still waiting? Holy shit.

Glad I didn't stay up that first night...

Seems combo is hard at work keeping communication open? Good. Better than nothing.

But how is this even an issue having all that experience with SF4? I don't get it.

Not according to all the cynics in this thread.

Oh I didn't stay up, I just was very interested in the progression of the beta while I worked today.

Figured by the time I got home I could get in after a few tries. Nopelol

At least Capcom is getting a taste of modern networking stresses.

the beta is most likely an old build and any real development on fixing a beta build is kinda wasted on the full game wouldn't you think? Probably trying to fix the beta, but they'd love to do it with as little resources used on a beta build as possible.

This version of SF has been dumbed down. You just press "Yes" to win. Thanks Obama.

PS: I'm coming back later for the real game :p

DING DING DING! It is absolutely imperative that you have this shit down to a science in 2015.
