Stuff your face with Cheesy Gorditas to win Vitas

The rules are explained somewhere on the site. Technically, every code is a "winner". The first code entered after the random winning time, decided by a third party company (Ventura), is the winner. There is supposedly a "winner for every 15 minutes" or something like that. Several people, including Shadow here, had a pretty good idea of how it worked. I don't know about him, but I was watching the counter for several days, and I was getting pretty good at predicting right when people would win. Several times I was about to enter my code or tell a friend to put his in, and there was a winner right then, or right after. But, the counter started being really inconsistent. So, either the timer is inaccurate, there was a glitch or something, or they changed the way the contest works because people were figuring it out.

As far as I know, there's no really valid strategy out there right now, other than put your code in if you see it rapidly going up.

Ok so I played the Dojo game and it says I won but when I tried to submit my info it said I had invalid birthday and no internet connection. Is there anywhere I can request help? I really want to win one since I have no job and therefor no money to get one anytime soon :(

Well we know one winner who probably won't get his Vita

The Taco Bell ad says there’s a winner every 15 minutes, but dozens of would-be winners across the country said they’ve been cheated.

“Enter the code and see if you’re an instant winner,” the ad tells viewers, saying those who enter could win the new PlayStation Vita instantly.

Gamer William Schroeder of Lodi was one of the many who thought he was a winner.

The Taco Bell website told him “Congratulations, you won. … No really, we’re not kidding,” he said, a message consistent with what other would-be winners reported.

“I was excited, I’ve never won anything like that,” he said.

But two weeks later, he got an email claiming he was “not a valid winner,” but without any explanation, he said.

“It’s ridiculous,” he said, shaking his head.

CBS13 has been in contact with dozens of people from across the country since Feb. 14 who insist they too won PS Vitas — only to later get the same rejection email.

“It’s absolutely foul what they’re doing to me and the rest of these people who are getting screwed,” Schroeder said.

Taco Bell told CBS13 someone tampered with their contest — creating too many winners — and said those who followed the rules may not get their prizes.

Asked if these ‘legitimate winners” are guaranteed prizes, a Taco Bell representative said, “They are not.”

“They will get a second chance [in a new drawing Taco Bell will create],” the company spokesperson added.

The company said the second-chance drawing for these specific participants, about 300 in number, they said, will take place the week of March 18. At least two PS Vitas will be given away in that drawing, said the spokesperson.

If customers followed the rules and won, consumer attorney Eric Ratinoff said the company has a responsibility to deliver the prize in accordance with their terms of the contest, which he read.

Those terms say “in the unlikely event” there are too many winners, Taco Bell will have a drawing to distribute the PS Vitas.

Ratinoff said that solution is still unfair to those who followed the rules.

“If Taco Bell had a problem with the way they ran their own sweepstakes, that should be their own problem,” he said.

Realizing he may not get his prize, William said he was infuriated.

“All I did was go through their drive-thru, buy their $5 box, play the game honestly,” he said.

The Taco Bell contest, which runs through March 11, is being handled by marketing group Ventura Associates, which never responded to messages left by CBS13.

Taco Bell said it plans to send apology emails to explain the situation.

Full statement issued 2/21/12: “We have learned that during a short period of time on January 30th, some people entering our Unlock the Box promotion erroneously received a message suggesting they had won a PlayStation® Vita, pending verification. After a thorough investigation, and an additional review by the independent company administering the promotion, it was confirmed that these entrants viewed these messages as a result of others who attempted to gain illegal entry and defraud the system. Unfortunately, during this time period some saw a confirmation screen but were not valid winners. Taco Bell designed this sweepstakes to be fun for our consumers and we know that there are some disappointed fans. We are therefore giving those consumers who viewed erroneous messages a second chance to win by automatically entering them into a separate drawing to win a PS Vita. All winners will be notified and their names posted the week after the end of the promotion. The issue that occurred on January 30th has been resolved and the Unlock the Box promotion will continue to run through March 11, 2012.”

I won on Feb 1st (thought it was the 31st but was mistaken). I got one email asking for my info on Feb 3rd, then another telling me I was getting Hot Shots Golf instead of LittleBigPlanet on Feb 8th. Still no Vita. :(

Well, I got the e-mail telling me I was in the group of winners-but-not-winners so count yourself lucky if you've made it far enough to pick a game. I'm pretty sure others have said their e-mails have said to give them two-to-three weeks for delivery. You've got a little time left until you should be concerned if it's only been two weeks.

So those of you that won, what does your email say?

I got something like this:

February 21, 2012

I put my code in on the 18 and got this email yesterday, 21. It went to my junk mail so idk if it is legit.

Also: When I entered the code, I didn't drag the image. I did it a second time and it just seemed to have refreshed the page. The third time it said the code was already used, so I wasn't shown a winning screen.

I looked around and saw that some people were taken to an online submission form they had to fill out and the rules said if they navigated away from that page, they lost their prize. But seeing as how I got this email three days after I sent the code, it must be legit, right?

Same one I got.

I'm gradually starting to get worried again. The text message and email responses I got never mentioned any timeframe, but tomorrow is going to be 3 weeks since I got the follow-up email asking for my name/addy/etc, so given the "2-3 weeks" other people were told I'm feeling awfully paranoid.

So whoever made up the "1 Vita given away every 15 minutes" didn't tell people at Sony or something? Was Sony not even aware of this contest?

It took 4/5 days for me to get another response to that email (which explained the "no LBP yet so you get Hot Shots" situation but gave no timeframe on the device shipping).

If you haven't already, shoot a reply to that email address that you received the emails from. They usually respond pretty quickly (within a day or so), and it seems like a human reply too (instead of a predetermined response).

Got a voicemail back from the message I left on their hotline today, asking when the Vita will arrive. They said that they needed my code and my email address. I called back and left my email address but I don't have the code any more, since I got the confirmation emails from them. I said in the message that I could forward the emails if necessary.

They better not be about to dick me over.

The next batch mails out on March 11th, the last day of the contest. No clue what that means for winners in the last week, or the estimated 2,500 they have left to award after the contest ends.

I did that a couple days back asking if there was any kind of timeframe, haven't gotten a response. Having won on the 3rd I was hoping I'd make it into that first batch but I'm thinking I probably won't get it until next month :\

Friday 2pm edit: Another day without a package from the UPS guy, and still no email response. Might try calling somebody.

I'm kind of worried because when I entered my code, I was never taken to the "we're not kidding, you're a winner" page. It just refreshed and when I tried to enter the code, it said it was already used. I did get the email a few days later says I was a winner. I just hop that they don't give me some bs about me not winning now that they got my hopes up. They did say in there faq that the winners are logged by email and unique codes, which I am so glad for browser autofill or else I wouldn't have kept my code.

Left a voicemail with my name, email and phone number on that 855 number on Friday asking about the status of my win. Got a voicemail an hour later (missed the call unfortunately) asking for my box code so they could forward it somewhere. Responded with the code. Haven't heard back yet but they said it could take a week.

A week ago I responded to the email thread I had going with Vanessa Gross asking about a timeframe but I never got a response. Might try sending her another email tonight.

Approaching 4 weeks since I theoretically won. Hope something hasn't gone wrong.

I'm in the same boat here. I hope that no longer having my code isn't going to be a problem, but I haven't heard back. I'm trying not to get too worried about it since they DID verify it once when I won.

I still have 2 codes to use, but the counter has been so unpredictable i have no clue when to enter them. Have been waiting for another day like I posted about 2 weeks ago when the counter was moving at about 1 vita every 5 minutes

I have a few codes left, but with the counter at half of where it should be, it feels wrong to play at any time.

But once March 2nd hits, codes are free requests, making a giant mess of requests, so I need to make sure these go in before then.

im really confused by this post, care to elaborate?

On March 2nd, you can enter online for a free code, without needing to get the box or send away an envelope.

That means the odds of winning during that time are going to go way down, as you'll be able to get unlimited codes.

Got an email back from vgross.

The estimated delivery time is 2-3 weeks, however, realistically the expected time is 6-8 weeks for most prizes. We do not provide shipping or tracking information.

Thanks and please direct future question about this promotion to TB@sweepspros.com.

I wish somebody would just tell me straight-up "Yes, you have won, and you will receive a Vita at some point." People who won two weeks after me have received their devices so I'd just like to know for sure that I am in fact an actual winner lol.

I got the exact same response today. I feel a little better, but there's still that lingering doubt of "Did they make sure there wasn't an issue with my prize?".

So, I tried to enter the "boast" part of the contest weeks ago, but that part is kinda janky. I only just got an email today saying one of my submissions was accepted, but there was no link and no way to search for my own entry so I had to spend 30 minutes combing through the 6000 entries for my own... Anyway, feel free to vote for my entry here, if you want to help a guy out.

I got the email letting me know my boast entry was approved yesterday too. I figured it was my only real shot at getting a Vita so I found the entry and made multiple threads on 4chan and kept them bumped all night.

I managed to get about 1150 votes and I'm sitting in 5th place right now. I'd ask GAF for help but I know I shouldn't. I do feel like if I keep up the vote rate or hit a gold mine of voters, I'd have a real shot at winning since the top three get a Vita.

Voting ends Sunday at midnight (not totally sure about the timezone, as Ventura is on the East coast and Taco Bell is on the West). Gonna keep at it anyway.

Here's my entry if you want to see how I made something appealing enough for votes, but in no way am I asking you to vote for me.

What the hell.

I just received another confirmation email, asking for name, address and game choice, the same email I already received and responded to on Feb 3rd. I only entered the one time (on the 1st).

This is driving me crazy.

Hey gaf I gave up on getting a vita with taco bell so I just bought one. My little cousin is still trying to win one from taco bell voting contest. He's currently number 18 but nowhere near 1st. I was wondering if gaf could help him with some votes. The people in first most be cheating the system somehow thanks again guys link

That sucks and would drive me crazy as well, at this rate you should probably just go buy one, and if the other Vita comes in, sell it.

I can't believe how messed up this contest is for everyone else, it seems. I felt lucky enough to win, now I just feel super lucky to have actually received my Vita.

Wow, guess I never stood a chance anyway. Bought 8 boxes of terrible food trying to win this...lol

Fuck Taco Bell. Subway contest or bust, Sony.

I just wish I knew what the process was. I got my winning email last week and I haven't heard back. In afraid to have problems like everyone else.

You can try emailing tbunlockthebox@gmail.com if you're worried. It's the only place I've been able to actually get a real response from somebody who doesn't seem to be sending out unhelpful canned messages.

It's been more than a month now since I won. I'm told my winning status is still fine, but they don't give out any sort of tracking info or even any shipment notification, so the fact that many people who won weeks after me have received their systems already is slowing driving me insane.

Where is that email from?

Came from that Facebook group with a couple hundred maybe-maybe-not winners. It was sketchy at first since it wasn't a @sweepspros address like some of the other contest people, but it's them, confirmed by other folks at Ventura.

Edit: Happened to see the UPS guy go by just now. Really hope I actually get this thing someday, lol.

Thanks a bunch. I emailed them and immediately got a response who forwarded my info to Vanessa Gross. Vanessa emailed me 5 min later saying she got my info and ill get it in 2-3 weeks. I did pick LBP as a game though and haven't heard anything about that.

Anyone keep getting the "ERROR: Please verify that you're not a bot by completing the image captcha" when trying to enter their code?
