Suikoden II |OT| The Affordable 108

Yes. That is correct. I am Yuichi, host of the Konami Stream.

Thank you for your support!
No. Thank you for your support. You've literally made my entire year by getting enough attention for one of my all time favorite games to finally release. Makes me so freaking happy.

Is the name bug still present in the Vita version?

IIRC, if you transfer your character from the first game, the name is messed up or incomplete in the second one.
It seems unlikely that they'd bugfix the PS1 game. I always just named my Suiko1 character with all lower case letters to avoid it.

I have the disc version but I'm buying this.

Official name is Tir, but you can always just name your Suikoden 1 character an M name to ensure that bug isn't that bad. Something like Marcus. Then he will be McDohl in Suikoden 2.

Thank you for creating this OT.

Please continue to spread the word that this game is worth the price of admission ($10).
Suikoden 1 is already on PSN and will officially be on VITA today so you can have both Suikoden 1 and 2 for less than $20!

That is easily 80+ hours of gaming combined plus all the replayability.
Clives quest, save transfers, finding out how to recruit everyone, figuring out unites and magic combinations.

I hope our efforts will pave way to Suikoden VI or at least Suikoden III-V HD Collection. :(

Didn't see you here! I said it on the other topic and on twitter, but thanks for all you work, getting this game released, man. We wouldn't be getting this today without your help.

This. So much this. Even if it doesn't have a huge budget, I would love a new mainline game.

At what time do they usually update the PSN store? I'm wondering if I'll have time to purchase and download this before I leave for work...

I find it updates mid afternoon or around 3-5 central?, but who knows. I've never seen a set time. I just know it never updates in the morning.

You could also use the internet too if you're at work.

Or name him anything that doesn't use capital letters and it will import as plain McDohl too.

Let's not lie to people.

In my top 5 games of all time. I don't know if it will have withstood the test of time like say a Chrono Trigger does, but the story and its multi endings will forever etch this as a rock star of the RPG genre.

Should be it's just an ISO. However you can avoid this by naming your character with all lower case letters or just import it and take the S2 game save and fix it is a hex editor. Since you can put this saves on a usb this is pretty easy to do.

I just want to see
Harmonia
. Is that too much to ask?!

(And yeah, I know about the Gaiden games)

We also had a bit of
Harmonia
on
III! Frontier, but it was Harmonia.

But yeah, I know.
Hikusaak's
story would be pretty cool. At least we got Falena.

Hopefully this does well so Gio can continue to work on "the list." I'm nervous now too.

There's no way to get the optional hero in this game right, unlike the original release right? Or did they make a work around?

This is actually my favorite psx RPG, much much better than one and three, and better than FFVII imho.

Super excited to play this again. I've wanted to for years, but I've been afraid of accidentally damaging my physical copy. Now I just need to get a Suikoden 1 save file so I can rock it with "TcDohl."

What's up with this name glitch?

Going to buy Sukioden II today. I already bought the first game awhile back, but I never played it. I don't plan on playing the series for a few months, but I'll need a ton of portable games for the coming years. Plus I would like to see Konami actually utilize their franchises that doesn't start with the name Metal, or Silent.

Going to buy both.

Was a HUGE fan of the second. Never got to play the first though saw the box art in the store once oh so long ago. Even then people made fun of it's western cover.

When you load a save file from Suikoden I, it imports your character's name for some backstory text and
awesomeness later on
. The problem is that the game screws the imported name up to make a bastardization of your chosen name and the lore-name for people who didn't import a save.

PS3 memory card manager for PSOne saves is the same as it was on the original PSOne console. So having a proper Suikoden save with the right conditions met will transfer to Suikoden II and extras are carried over accordingly.

I am legitimately jealous of the people who are playing these games for the first time. Such charming and human experiences and easily close to my favourite games.

I might consider picking up a Vita when they launch in Europe.

Jeeze, I hope that doesn't happen to my hero, Necrovex!

Too much on my plate now with Dragon Age:Inquistion, but I'll be buying this as soon as it hits the store just to show my support. I'm thrilled that we are finally getting this.

Love the series, and it's been forever since I played this game.

I never managed to get all 108 stars in Suiko 2 sadly, so that's a pretty good reason to experience it all over again. But think I'll replay the first game. How easy is it to miss any characters in Suikoden I? I'd rather not use a guide...

Suikoden 2 has one the greatest villains ever in gaming, and arguably the greatest final confrontation with that villain. That entire sequence is just so unbelievable, and lives up to the guy's legend.

It's been a long time since I've played Suikoden I but I recall a pretty terrible part that basically requires a guide if you want to keep a star. There may be other missable stars as well, I can't really remember. You should be able to find spoiler-free guides though.

Finally I can play this again on my TV instead of the PC, cough.
My goodness, the last time I played this series, 4 I think, was when I was in middle school.
One of the best grand war strategy RPG series ever....just no love for it like FFT.
I guess it is due to the overwhelming number of recruits.

Can't wait to play this again. Currently playing S1 on my PS TV (analog controls on DS4 rules) and I think I will be trying to utilize every single character I can play as. I always recall becoming too comfortable with a small select group and leave the majority of players on the wayside. This time everyone will get to experience the action. Even the ones with bad stats. Heck, they make things more interesting. Having a new group for every story beat should bring this playthrough alive.

Also, this game has some really neat collectibles. Being able to change the window design as well as sound effects is something more games should do (I know Chrono Cross did the windows tho). There are also books you can collect that give you info on the world setting.

Suikoden I has no missables. Non-specific spoilers for S1:
Whenever you have the option to save or kill someone, always use save. There is another character that is very hard to keep alive though and you may want to use a guide for that small part.

It warms my heart to see so many people excited for Suikoden 2. I hope enough people buy it today that Konami takes notice and says "Suikoden 3,4,5 and Tactics are coming to PS Classics too"

If a new game in the series is out of the question then please release the old ones at least lol. I have a definite need to replay this series.

Not too many missable, use logic and keep all your characters as upgraded as possible, will really help at some point. I can say more without entering spoilers territory for some. However, I can add info in spoiler tags if you want to be sure to make it, won't spoil what happens.

Are you guys talking about
Pahn?

Edit: oops, did not mean to double post, sorry!

Yep!
Just make sure to keep him leveled and with strong equipment!

Yea, got caught on first playthrough. All good for subsequent *insert a huge number* playthroughs because I and II are my most played games ever. Can't wait for this to come out today, will have fun on Vita during the cold Christmas Holidays!

Such a great game. A bit late now but would love for them to do a side story on
Pesmerga
and
Yuber
.
