Maybe it's time for me to finally get into the Hunter x Hunter manga. I think I remember reading up through volume 5 a long time ago.

Anyway, time for the most boring day of Saimoe results since the first. Interest seems like it's waning all around now.
Nano crushes two IS characters, huh? Poor Tabane... but eh, Nano's pretty amusing. :)

ABF lives in a liberal (good) state!
Gay marriage isn't legal here yet.. but there's going to be another referendum on it next year probably, hopefully it'll have a better result than the last one.

Croisee 5: There are no villains on the show, of course, so I wasn't too surprised with how it ended... but I get some feeling that there will be an act of contrition at some point down the line, unless this show becomes super dark and changes tone all of a sudden.

There were also some interesting framing shots, using the gallery's architecture to invoke meaning:

But I'm not sure how I feel about seeing all the boarded up stores with Ferme stamped all over them. It's like, they didn't want to hammer home that Walmart is killing the local stores by having the characters complain about it... but this is about as on the head as that. Since the ending is inevitable though, one wonders how they'll handle it. The bit with the oil lamp at the end seems to indicate how it'll all be resolved anyway.
I don't shop at Walmart. My family has always refused to shop there, for good reason...

What if they claw you to death?
They can claw you, sure, but won't kill you. Dogs can be much more dangerous.

I thought it was nice since it gave them a second chance and they could spend more time together especially with the revelation about the heart. I enjoy epilogues with hints about what happened next. I was torn at first because I thought Kanade would have stayed with Otonashi in that world for him staying alone is kind of a sad thought since he would have to start SSS from scratch though its a ending thats better for a sequel.
Them staying could have worked, yeah, but the ending they went with works really well too, maybe even better than that one because it shows how they have in fact been rewarded for all their hard work...

And now you're misunderstanding me! Of course the old world was aware of the Wild West, what I argue is whether they honest to God truly believed that that was how we all lived. I mean, prior to that we had were established by Europeans and controlled by Europe, gone to war with England twice, had formal relations with Europe so honestly a lot of Europeans had been to America, for business, pleasure, whatever and vice-versa and while the frontier predates the Wild West and was surely an icon of America since its inception I find it hard to believe that Europe was trading with us and we and they were going back and forth between countries and then some fucking literature came out and they figured we all lived in Tombstone getting in shoot outs. Essentially I'm calling in to question how accurate it is to look back on popular culture and lore from the past and draw assumptions that that was indeed the general belief at the time. But of course they knew of it, I'm sure those who knew of both worlds in America would make fun of us with it in a tongue in cheek manor but surely they knew of the rest of the country as well, you know, the parts they had been dealing with for over a century prior.
Ah, I see. I'm not entirely sure how common misconceptions about Americans and the Wild West were, but I do think that they were at least somewhat common, so some people would believe her when she said something like that for sure. Remember, at that point most people hadn't actually been across the ocean and back. Plenty of people went TO the US and didn't return, but only richer people could afford to travel back and forth... I think her saying that and hoping they'll believe her is reasonably believable.

Also, as far as guns go, the "Americans love guns" thing is still a popular conception... probably because it's got a lot of truth to it... just not to the degree that you see in, say, animes set in America. :)

Your reaction isn't living up to the HYPE. Explain yourself, using words!

I was never hyped!!!

The cooking competition setting was just boring. Nothing really happened that made me laugh, or entertained me to a great extent throughout the episode.

It just seemed so pointless!

Also, aren't these girls meant to be nobodies that the Producer is trying to raise through the ranks? How did they even secure a slot on a TV show?

The saving grace for this episode was the end sequence, with Hibiki's song and that slideshow which showed her loneliness at home. That was a nice touch.

NANO NANO NANO NANO NANO NANO NANO

Isana did surprisingly well. Figured everyone would have forgotten about Dream Eater Merry by now.

Yuru Yuri does make a compelling argument for itself. Perhaps I'll catch up.

Oh and dogs>>>>cats, btw.

Ninja fox girls, however, are the best. I believe we can all agree on that one.

I would have replied with some awesome pictures, but I am trying to keep my posts more "Cero C" so here you go

Now what you've all been waiting for, a breakdown of how the girls fiscal policies in Hanasaku Iroha mirrors that of real world economies:

economics.jpg

Yuina is clearly America. She's rich and used to having cash to splash around with not a care in the world for the problems this might cause down the line. Got a problem? Through more money at it!

Ohana stands in for Italy. Now during a crisis everyone is looking around worrying about Ireland and Greece and Spain but they forget about Italy. But then they remember that the person at the top of the Italian political and economic pyramid is a totally nutty! Suddenly it doesn't sound like a good idea to lend him money. Still, Ohana's fiscal policies aren't as terrible as Greece's yet, she only wants to spend her money on sweets but she's got a long way to go before being completely useless.

Nako is Japan: Quiet, reserved, concerned with endlessly saving money. Rather than furthering herself my developing, or helping the economy by shopping, she'd rather just save tirelessly.

Minchi is Germany, concerned with being industrious and developing herself further she makes the best use of her wages to improve and find ways to do her job better.

You know, reading about all the fear-mongering over the results of the US debt ceiling crisis, I can't help but think "is this what [C] would be like in real life?"

Enishi Shijima is China: He understands the potential of the inn and is taking a proactive and prudent, albeit successful, approach to management. You could also argue that his mother is the part of China attempting to maintain a more traditional aspect without much change.

Damn you, Kugiloli!!

I know man, her horrible personality has also been burned into my brain. At least there's Azusa to soothe the pain.

Is Cero C like a PG-13? Can I not say fuck boobs or pedobear more than twice in one post?

I think it's if it's said enough times in a thread google will catch on and hammer us with a sense me ad i.e a general discussion in a topic, like in the girl-age thread every post will be filled with words like bewbs, and buttocks etc.

Or if every poster in this thread suddenly developed tourrettes, then we're fucked.

Good. Minchi all the way!

On another note: New Hunter X Hunter-anime is going to start from the very beginning of the story. Worst news of the year :(

Not even vampire loli witch turning into a slut in the end could save this.
I guess you didn't find it funny how Taito triumphed.

I think I black out everytime the love conquers all plot point is used.

With the amount of times the guy has died since he learned that he can die 7 times, it's amazing how the issue never came up much earlier in his life.

I just found the sequence lending to it laughable because the setup was terrible (Ba'alskra, "never give up," etc).

But was he already dead?

Rebuild of Evangelion 2

I like Mari. She's silly.

Yuru Yuri 05

Sakurako's fantasy sequence was the best part, although holy shit Chinatsu is intense!

Great minds think alike. The show could have been a lot better though.

Yeah Summer Wars had no cat bus at all. Fail.

It's just, compared to other Miyazaki works, it is much less lively and less interesting to look at, even the comparatively derided ones like Howl's Moving Castle or Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea. I don't feel it captures the everyday life vibe as well as a Takahata film. It's safe to say I don't 'get' the adoration for Totoro and never have.

Somehow this is almost creepier than the posts about Nako's age.

Who's Tohru then? The rest of the European Union?

The funny thing is that I can't see gifs at work, so the point is entirely wasted on me. ^_^
The point is that the art of Ponyo and Howl's Moving Castle is their most redeeming feature.
