Another crow eater right here... still not feeling the isometric camera view... but i can get accustomed i guess.
I can't believe this and Tearaway are coming out on the same day. Two awesome looking 3D platformers (one more older 3D mario style with adventuring [Tearaway] and one purely 3D platforming [SM3DW]). I don't know how I'm going to get both on the same day.I guess I'll just have to save some extra.
At least Tearaway is mega cheap (£20 @ Amazon.co.uk). Makes it easier for my wallet.
Can we talk about the music for a sec? It sounds very big band to me, can't think of any other Mario music like it.
Okay, haters. Time to take everything back.
My only issue with the game when I played it at Eurogamer.Unfortunately still controls like 3D Land.

They're just using the naming convention to link the 3DS/Wii U versions - it's Super Mario 3D Land on consoles injected with steroids and LSD. No dinosaur world connection.I don't know much about this version, how much does it share with Super Mario World?

Favorite part about this trailer is the music. It's great, and so much better than the track used in the reveal trailer. Game looks real good too. Has it been confirmed whether you have right-stick camera control in single player mode?
The moral?
Never underestimate Nintendo.
Never underestimate EAD Tokyo would be more accurate as they haven't produced a single stinker, unlike other parts of Nintendo.

Oh, GAF is up!
Thought it looked just okay. Don't think it will be a system seller at all.
I can only hope the sales don't even reach Sunshine level. I gonna do my part and buy it used if anything.
They made Sunshine, which was simply bad
And I understand that. Maybe it's because I grew up with 64 and Sunshine, but personally I really enjoy that style of 3D platformer? and there isn't exactly a bunch of games out there like it. So if they want to go this direction with Mario, then by all means they should. But they should make another IP that plays like Super Mario 64 and Sunshine haha.
Yuck at the art direction and music. I guess there's only so much you can do with 3D Land groundwork and while it's better than the E3 footage, being better than godawful doesn't automatically mean being good. And still so many traces of the 3DS roots everywhere. plus wth is going on with that big field in which you hunt these rabbids? Ground textures ported straight from Pikmin? :lol
And that lazy, tiresome Boom Boom fight really had to make it in again? Kinda sad seeing some of these ideas wasted in such an entry. Gonna be an okay party game, but these stages look way too bland and empty in the SP walkthrough videos. If anything, the shown stages feel like they were made for a Mario RPG rather than a platformer.

No matter how you slice it, this just looks like a significant step back from the Galaxies, and that's coming from a guy who wanted to see a return to Mushroom Kingdom!
They made Sunshine, which was simply bad, and 3D Land, which was like a miniature, mediocre version of Galaxy. They can produce great games, but I'm not one for blind faith in them.

THANK YOU. Finally I no longer feel like I'm the only one who thinks this, even after seeing this "improved" trailer.
Every stage just looks so empty and spread-out to accommodate casual multiplayer hijinx. Graphically it's okay, I guess, but nowhere near as impressive as the art style they as employed in Galaxy 1 and 2.

Still don't like the forced 2d-ish camera perspective. It's not a 3D game. It's 2D and sometimes for forced 2.5D but it hasn't got that freedom you get from a proper 3D Mario game.
It does look amazing though. The art work is terrific.

Riiight, because the Galaxy games didn't have forced camera angles either and 2D. Oh, and before you say "but you could control the camera in those games" you can in this one too. Only in single player though for obvious reasons.
There's no difference in the scope of levels in this and the Galaxy games. People are literally clinging to the fact that it vaguely resembles 3D Land
