They cared enough to throw him into M&L for a quick cameo (though still had to acknowledge Square owns the rights to him). I don't think he's an amazing character or anything, but he'd be:

1) Unique, especially compared other suggestions like Bowser Jr., Toad or Paper Mario
2) An easy way to represent the huge series of RPG spin-off games
3) Really easy to come up with a moveset due to being from an RPG
4) Not awkwardly sized or anything

I think Mario will get another rep, due to dropping from 5 to 4 in Brawl, but I think it's too hard to tell just who it'd be. In terms of liklihood it's probably either going to be Toad, Bowser Jr., Paper Mario or Waluigi, but those all sound horrible so I'm banking more on something left-field like Geno, Fawful, Rosalina or even E. Gadd or King Boo.

Also yeah, only people opposing Bayonetta due to GUNS totally don't remember just how much shit there was to unlock in the original game. Not to mention her default guns are pretty cartoony; Falcon and Snake still have realistic guns in their holsters for instance, they just can't use them in-game.

Also this series always gets a T from the ESRB, excluding guns won't change anything and just seems like a strange ban in the first place considering several other fighters such as Marvel vs. Capcom or Playstation All-Stars can portray it in a cartoonish way. (and giving the OK for realistic explosives instead of firearms just seems backwards)

Revolvers, AK-47's and pistols to shoot people being BAD but rocket launchers, land mines and C4 to blow people up is a-okay always struck me as a dumb double-standard as well. I get the latter are far harder for an American kid to get their hands on, but the latter realistically would still be far more gruesome than just a gunshot.

Radec's sniper-rifle in PSASBR is a pretty fun move; they could have always given Snake something like that to work in his stealthy nature in Brawl instead of another rocket launcher.

Little Mac - I will seriously flip a table if Little Mac doesn't make the cut this time. He is officially at his most likely.
King Hippo - While I know this is unlikely, we need more villains, and King Hippo is it.
Captain Syrup - Good villain choice, and we ain't got no characters like her.
Victini - We'll probably get someone from X/Y, but whatever.
Chrom & Robin - Best way to validate no FE cuts. Chrom works in the foreground with the basic sword slashers, while Robin works in the background ala Trainer as his support, using various magics.
Ridley - shutup
Isaac - A good character with a combination of magic and swordplay, while also being likely because I can only assume Camelot will want to do anything to get him in. If not Isaac, then Matthew.
Tingle - c'mon, it's Tingle. He's GOTTA be in, Sakurai.
Dixie Kong - I contemplated K. Rool, but I get the feeling Sakurai will go with Dixie.
Takamaru - While he didn't have his own game, he did appear in Samurai Warriors 3, which to me means that Nintendo is paying attention to him.
Palutena - I used to ship Medusa as the second KI rep, but after playing KIU, Palutena seems to be a much better choice.
Andy - It's been a long time coming. Andy seriously needs to be in.
Samurai Goroh - F-Zero needs its second rep!
Chibi-Robo - A more off-the-wall choice; I want to see cute lil' Chibi-Robo in already.
Ouendan - With Nintendo having more and more rhythm games, I'd love to see the Cheer Squad/Agents on the battlefield.
Mewtwo - Just, make him a lot better.
Saki Amamiya - Almost forgot! Less likely than he would be awesome.

I also left out third parties because I think it's boring and has little to no strong "science" between which is more likely. If I had to choose, it'd be between these five (just as an aside, not as part of my roster):

Slime - Due to Nintendo's strong connection to the DQ series at the moment, as well as Sakurai's connections.
Layton - Again, Nintendo's connection to the franchise.
Mega Man - I used to say no, but now it seems as though Capcom wants to bring Mega Man back for some good public relations.
Jack Frost - My best guess is that Atlus would quickly approach Nintendo to get a rep in, and no better than Jack Frost for them.
Something Namco-based - Not Pac-Man. Stage, yes, but no character.

Also how the hell do you think that there are no benefits? First of all this would take a huge restriction off of Snake in terms of his character and what he can bring to the table. Also for all we know this "ban" could have left characters like Bayonetta off the table for the game given how one of her most recognizable features is the fact that she has a heavy reliance on guns such as the ones strapped to her feet.

For starters, being a game primarily for children, it would effectively decrease the sales and/or increase the parental complaints. Whereas exclusion would have virtually no effect in that matter. It's simply not an intelligent move from a business point of view.

Regarding the weapons ban, I'd have to search for the specific quote again, but I think Sakurai actually said that he feared that it'd raise the rating of the game in the West, the problem wasn't Japan. The game ended up rated T anyway though, so maybe they'll drop that now since they couldn't get an E anyway.

Just to clarify on the Pokemon choices. I've chosen Steelix as I hope they do what they did with Snorlax, but with Steelix. Obviously he goes under ground, and then pops up at a random spot. Have dirt show up where hes going to be to give you time to dodge.

I chose Hippowdon and Cofagrigus hoping to get some kind of trap Pokemon. So you walk over where Hippowdon was and he pops up and bites you, something like that, and Cofagrigus would "blend" into the background.

Just my thoughts of course.

Pacman is getting in, no way around it. There is no potential future in which Pacman doesn't join the rooster. Namco is gonna try to push him hard.

Anyone who said this towards any third-parties are highly overestimating said third-party characters odds and this goes for Pac-Man as well.

Pac-Man is a third-party. There are no guarantees that third-party returns, so by default he cannot be considered a shoe-in. Plus Namco has expressed interest in having a Tales character in Smash, yet so far, nothing on Pac-Man.

Am I the only one who thinks Pacman is a terrible character? Namco should take SSB4 as an opportunity to introduce a new IP and change their mascot.

I don't hate Pac-Man (I did enjoy the original game a lot), although I will say that I find him to be a very boring addition.

Marth WILL NEVER be cut for anyone. And as it stands, Roy is far more wanted than Chrom and Lucina.

I think its more likely to be the other way around. Chrom and Lucina would be alternate costumes for Marth and Ike.

I'm not too fond of Chrom and Lucina, but I'd rather not have them degraded to alternate costumes of another character either. It just would not feel right and I think Sakurai is inclined to agree. Now they are similar to Marth and Ike, but they're still different characters.

Guys and gals, I'd love for Megaman to be in the game but Capcom can't even get a handle on putting him in a new game of his own. :I

I don't think Capcom hates Mega Man so much as they don't know what to do with him. They have been putting him in cross-overs (Project X and while a comic book series, Worlds Collide), so I don't think Capcom have any qualms with allowing Mega Man to join Smash.

I think part of the problem is that Namco has been all over the place with Pac-Man. If he got in I'd assume he'd have his new design from SFxTekken and that CG cartoon, in which case I hope to god he doesn't talk.

On the Zelda side of things, I am expecting Ghirahim. I would be surprised if Impa made it in as a character (I'm guessing most of the Zelda cast will be in their SS incarnation, or TP in the case of Ganon). I wouldn't be surprised to see Groose as an assist trophy.

I do think that it could very well happen.

I am willing to bet on King K. Rool's inclusion. King K. Rool is one of the most wanted Nintendo character. Aside from polling very well on Shortie's poll (already in 4th place as we speak), he's also highly requested in Japan. From observations from ToiseofChoice and ChronoBound (Snakey on this forum), King K. Rool appears to be among some of the most wanted Nintendo newcomers in Japan as well (although these are based off limited viewing experience and should be taken with a grain of salt). King K. Rool is also an important part of the Donkey Kong franchise, next to DK and Diddy Kong, so importance-wise, he's next in line as well. I'd say that he's the most likely Nintendo newcomer to show up in the game (not counting Mewtwo who is as close as a shoe-in as we're getting).

Dixie Kong is more uncertain, but she still has a pretty good shot. While she lacks much demand in the West, like King K. Rool, Dixie is also highly requested in Japan. She also has the benefit of being planned for Brawl, indicating that Sakurai does have some interest in her. Not to mention that she's pretty important to the series as well, next in line in regards to importance (after Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong and King K. Rool in that order).

I would be shocked to see the franchise not get a newcomer at this point, despite their absence from Returns (which shouldn't be used as a counter against them given that recentness is not a factor Sakurai considers in non-recurring franchise).

No they don't. However Zero Suit Samus does, at long you are able to pick them from character selection screen.

I don't think you've made a mistake at all, I guess people just think that you could just put new characters.

Maybe edit the requirement so it says this:

Type the character roster IN WORDS, not an image (this means ALL characters that will be in the game, not just new characters)
