Survivor 28: Cagayan |OT| Colby votes out Keith again

Brice may have been nice but he had zero game. This ep was LJ's coming out party. He's going to be a force and I have little doubt that Probst is creaming his drawers at his prospects.

Morgan has that possible crazy chick aura about her, could be interesting later, plus well, you know. Alexis and Jefra have nothing going on personality wise, but at least Alexis is gorgeous.

You don't know because there isn't anything.
All we got from Brice and Morgan was cattiness and overt scheming. It's no better. They were badmouthing the other tribe members last episode when they weren't even in danger.

And Morgan made a huge blunder by revealing her alliance, and gave an incredibly lame excuse to cover it. Jefra might not be that savvy, but she still picked up enough to confront Jeremiah about it, and that forced him to stop playing both sides.

The only redeeming people on that tribe are LJ and Boobs McGee. Is this the "let's keep our worthless tribe members" season? Jefra and Alexis are going to fade into obscurity like all of the other 20-something white girls who have zero charisma, Purple Kelly be damned.

Moment of the show.

Holy shit this is amazing. At times like this I wish NeoGAF had signatures enabled.

Dammit, didn't want to see Bryce go.

Did anyone else catch that Jeff asked Morgan if there were any stereotypes that are typically associated with beautiful people and how it has revealed itself and she said, "yes, we have beautiful faces." LMAO

I think Jeremiah should have sided with Morgan/Brice to vote out Alexis, and then next time they lose the immunity challenge he should have pushed for all guys alliance with LJ and Brice, at least long enough to vote out Jefra, and then at the end he could vote out LJ with Morgan/Brice.

As it is now he's probably not going to make enough moves to be relevant in the game.

Then again this season has been a bit unusual, so maybe all logic and rules are out the window this time.

You can make 3 friends and 1 enemy or 2 enemies and 2 friends going into a likely swap or dissolve at F14. He chose wisely.

I didn't know that the tribes were likely to change up at 14. In that case he will have indeed made the better choice. I guess you're right about 14 being a likely time for a merge/switch, it just feels early to me.

Got tired of Brice by the end of this episode, he's like Tony (who's still great but is probably going to start sucking soon) where I doubt he'd offer much long-term. Some people are just way better off being pre-merge boots.

Kind of want to see more of Alexis before judging her either way, the "she's useless vote her out" reactions are pretty typical of underedited people on the show. We haven't really seen what kind of character she'll be yet - getting two or three confessionals an episode and basically no screentime aside from that isn't really enough to judge anyone by, unless they're naturally great narrators which we don't see a lot. Hopefully with David/Garrett/Brice out people like her get more attention.

Feel like we've seen Jeremiah/Jefra a million times before on the show, which isn't fair to them but I'm tired of "kind of likable Southern model" being a thing that needs to happen every other season. LJ seems like he might be better than I was expecting, but like Alexis I think it's too early to say.

Favorite is probably Kass? Which might sound weird but compared to the Dawn/Trish kind of older women we get she's pretty unique. Woo's great too.

The tie was dumb and bad TV and I hate that idols are already a big thing this season.

Sara and Morgan both seemed to go stupid this episode. Sarah believing everything Tony tells her and Morgan pretty much just playing bad. At least Morgan's still hot as hell.

Hopefully we see more of Cliff and Woo next episode because right now the only real hope for a decent player is LJ. Tony doesn't seem bad, but he's kind of annoying to me.

Yeah, it kind of hurts to see Sarah believing all that. Also I agree with wanting more Woo and Cliff. I really want to see how the Brawn tribe holds up in its first Tribal so hopefully it comes soon.

Brice and Morgan are the only interesting ones on that beauty tribe. The rest have no personality. Reminds me of a South Park episode where Lincoln told Kyle that beautiful people never realize how bland and boring they are. At least until their looks start to fade.

I love how when Jeff asked about whether they felt they fit the stereotypes generally associated with beautiful people, they had no clue apart from "yeah we're pretty good looking" and then proceeded to be totally wiggy about a fly.

Stolen from reddit, but too good to pass up...

Apparently the Beauty tribe was almost done with the maze by the time Brains even started. However, they spent the entire time trying to pull off a super hard move that actually would have just sent them backwards (the way they already came from).

So, the maze was obviously Beauty's downfall tonight. And the maze required a few tricky techniques, like that bit at the beginning where you had to catch the middle path and that other bit where you had to jump across the gap. Beauty could perhaps be forgiven for not being able to handles those moves. That's not what happened, though. Beauty had already passed those obstacles by the time Brains even got to the maze. Instead, Beauty spent the entire time that Brains was in the maze failing to perform a difficult move that would have sent them back towards the start!

His/her post explains it more in depth.

Another great episode. A small complaint is that we get no real personality yet from some of the people who survive (Jefra and Alexis particularly this episode), so it's always a disappointment when the one we're kinda rooting for, the protagonist of the episode in a way, is voted out.

I was really rooting against the Brains tribe, because I now can't stand any of them except for the one dude left. The other three are just brainless.

And is it just me, or did the Beauty tribe really come across as stupid this episode? I didn't get that feeling until tribal council, where they really did seem like the stereotypical stupid attractive people.

It's a bit worrisome that only 3 episodes in, there's a clear, small handful of candidates for winning: LJ from Beauty, Sarah or Tony from Brawn (they're either going to the end together or one of them will outwit the other -- my money is on Sarah ultimately figuring out Tony is too much of a threat to take to the end, especially if he ever reveals his idol), and Spencer (or possibly Kass) from Brains.

I'm hoping next episode fleshes out some other characters like Woo, Cliff, Trish, and that other hardcore chick from Brawn, plus Tash from Brains, and some of the Beauties... without resorting to stereotypical neurotic drama where you can rule out half the cast as potential protagonists/winners.

I get the feeling Tony is playing too hard too fast. I feel like the first time their tribe goes to tribal he'll overplay his hand. He may not go home right then but it will probably end up screwing him.

Well in the preview for next week, we see Sarah talking to Woo about some guy that she doesn't trust. Hopefully it's Tony she's talking about and not Cliff, and she finally gets over this "blue blood" nonsense.

I know what you mean about the current lack of big players, though. Kass came across as smart to me at first, but now I don't think so. I'd love to see Spencer make the merge and see what he can do, but I just don't think he's going to make it that far unless Jeff mixes up the tribes soon. He's stuck on a suicidal tribe.

Just watched the first 2-hour episode last night.

Kass talking about J'Tia after the rice was dumped said:
How did we come up with the criteria for "brains"? I'd like to see that data, because...

Uh, it's "those data", brainiac.

...that's my only comment.

Given her edit this week, I would be shocked if she's not talking about Cliff. Seems obvious.

Brice was the best thing about Beauty. Dude was hilarious. Only one that knew how full of shit everyone was. Really sad he went, honestly I have ZERO interest in that tribe anymore. Brawn is the most interesting tribe, and Brains is fun to watch because of how batshit insane they are. But Beauty is boring as hell.

Anyways, if I were Spencer, I would team up with J'Tia and just lay it out on the line. I would just say, Tasha doesn't even like you. She hates you after the rice incident. She has no plans of keeping you around. And Kass, look at how quick she is willing to pull a blindside. She's a lawyer, is ruthless, and can't be trusted. Realistically, we are both on the bottom.

If he could convince her of that, then they could turn around and start voting out the other members. IMO that's his best shot.

J'Tia owes and depends on her life in that game to Tasha... but she probably doesn't realize that, and could probably be flipped by Spencer or Kass. And what I'm sure she does realize is how weak she is in the game, and would probably take any thing offered to her if you make it sound enticing enough. So yeah, it's a decent tactic for him.

I agree she owes and depends on her, but Tasha isn't going to think twice about disposing her when the time comes. SO she would be a fool to continue to depend on her, when Tasha doesn't even like her. But of course, I'm assuming that J'Tia would even listen to Spencer (which is what I think your point is). I do agree, that it would be kind of a tough sell. J'Tia seems like a nutjob, so I'm not even sure how she would react to Spencer approaching her.

I guess Spencer could try to team up with Kass, and convince her that Tasha is getting too powerful. That she's running the tribe now. Basically, outside of winning Immunity challenges, Spencer has to make some kind of move to keep himself in the game. ALL THIS SAID, it will be interesting. Because Tasha could actually keep J'Tia around, if she's a loyal puppet that always votes with her. But J'Tia is so awful on every level (her personality, and how often she fails miserably in the challenges), that I think even Tasha would get worn down keeping her around.

Plus, once they merge, I don't think Tasha wants to go over with J'Tia. She won't work well with the other tribes, and that would then put a target on her. I'm assuming that an entire tribe can be eliminated before the merge. I'm not really sure at what point the game merges tribes this time around. Let's say Brain gets down to 2-3 players, do all the immunity challenges then get changed to 2-3 people per team? At what point do they merge.

I can think of a couple reasons I still like the Beauty tribe

lol well besides that. But good point. :P

But in terms of the overall tribe, I just find Beauty to be...really bland and boring. At least Brawn has a lot of funny characters. And you can see shit going sideways on the flip of a dime.

Finally saw this and I am disheartened Brice got the boot. He was a soundbite monster! I will miss you, you beautiful butterfly!

Tony is growing on me. He won't win as hard as he is playing so early, but damn if he isn't entertaining with the #spyshack and complete distrust of anything in the game.

I'm glad Brains won. Not just for their own sake, but I like Spencer. He actually seems to have a brain. Also, Blue Danube was the perfect touch.

I am cheering for Morgan because she is from the Bay and a former 49ers Gold Rush girl. That's my reason I swear! Also, I am convinced the producers concocted the Immunity Challenge due to Morgan.
