Target Triple Trade-in Value from 5/18-5/24

Pretty weak of Target to announce a triple value promotion then lower all the base values... but man they screwed up and were paying way more than stuff was worth when it kicked off. Someone needs a slap on the wrist and a calculator.

Well I figured everything would drop soon. I just hoped it would hold out another day.

Do you understand how economics work? As they get more copies of an individual game, the price should be dropping.

Welp, there goes my plan to flip South Park. Bought it yesterday evening on sale for $40, with the plan to finish it, and take it back for trade in for $55. It took me longer to finish it than I thought it would, and now the value is down to $30.

$10 is expensive for a one-night rental...lol.

My plan as well, South Park was my most expensive game to get money back for. Ugh... there goes all my hopes of getting a Wii U. I'll just get the minimum and pick up 1 PS4 game then. This just ruined my whole day.

EDIT: Yup this is true. I just looked up South Park and it's now worth $30, it used to be $57. Trinity Universe used to be worth $20, but now it's worth $9. Cross Edge used to be worth $20, now it's worth $16. These prices are dropping down fast! I think I'll just do this today, and stop. I was planning on doing it today and tomorrow, but there's no reason to if the prices drop any further.

This is so fucking stupid, I can get more for final fantasy X/X-2 HD for the vita than NBA 2k14 on the PS4. I'm just gonna keep most of my PS4 games

I understand economics enough to know that if you offer to buy something for $55 that sells on the open market for $40, you are going to get a ton of people taking advantage of your offer.

It was a mistake, and took longer than it should have to be corrected, but yay for me I got rid of that coaster.

Just got back from the Target on Alafaya by UCF in Orlando. Got a gift card for my 3 games, and was told to go to another store to trade in the rest.

I just got back from trading in Orange City. The guy was willing to do all of my games, but the system stopped him at 3, as we know. Then I asked him if I could go to another Target today to do the other trades. He said that I could only do this once a day, and that I could do it again tomorrow. I'm still going to go over to the Sanford one, since it's close to my job.

I traded in:
Sonic Lost World Wii U (36)
Donkey Kong Returns 3DS (21)
Kid Icarus (21)

Sucks that the value went down, but hey, this was still a great deal. I still need to trade in Zelda WWHD, Tales of Xillia, and Devil Survivor Overclocked.

Whelp, between that and the clerks at my store eating a big bowl of stupid and the black shirted mobile guy not showing up, Target lost a customer.

No wonder they're in deep shit.

Your post is really nonsensical. So basically they lost a customer because you couldn't trade in games for absurd prices?

I don't think they'll mind losing you since it essentially saved them (or the 3rd party vendor) a bunch of money, lol.

Dang it sucks that I'm on the east coast. By the time I found out about the deal yesterday all the mobile clerks went home. Now today by the time the mobile clerks show up (noon) values have dropped. Really sucks.

I had two animal crossings ready to pay for MK8 at $30 a pop and now they are $21.

Holy cow, really? Getting mad at trade in values dropping when they obviously got a bunch of those titles traded in? If there's anyone to get angry at, it should be yourself for not capitalizing on this deal the moment it went live. Smh

Agreed. Everyone knew (or suspected, rather) the trade-in values would plummet today.

hate the player not the game lol

but in all seriousness no reason to get butt hurt over this. this is the exact reason i didnt bother trying to flip anything. too lazy to make a second trip and i knew this would be gone fast. made sure i traded in my copy of infamous asap. this actually lasted a lot longer than i thought.

I was considering writing to corporate actually, mine has been a total disaster as of late in regards to prices, there was a whole issue where for some reason they wouldn't sell ps4 games despite the letter telling them THEY HAD TO. Closing early last night, issues surrounding clearnce, etc etc etc.

Traded in 12 games:
New Super Mario Bros Wii
Mario Kart Wii
Muramasa: The Demon Blade (I have Rebirth now)
Spider-Man Web of Shadows (Wii)
Zelda: Wind Waker (old scratched copy from GameStop, got $30, no regrets)
Mario Superstar Baseball
Zelda: Link Between Worlds
Shin Megami Tensei IV
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
Resident Evil Revelaitons (3DS)
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Tearaway

Got $206.34 total. Could have been a bit better if I'd gone yesterday, but not shabby at all. Now to wait and see what happens at E3.

I've read 21 pages so far and haven't seen anyone mad at Target for this.. but I agree people need to act fast if the deal is good for them, trade-in values will drop all week.

The price drop isn't as irksome as the fact that I would have been fine if the employee was on time.

Anyway, it's over and done with. So it goes.

The black shirt guy was supposed to be in at noon. I came in at 1 and he wasn't there. That wasn't a good first impression.

I'm going to try the West Boca one in a bit. I don't care if Rivals dropped in price, that game is so bad I'm surprised I can get any money for it.

He doesn't work for target. Third party that rents out space. They resell the games and also use then to fill insurance claims for people that actually buy that shit.

did they say he never showed up or did he just go on a lunch break? usually the electronics staff will know. yesterday i showed up around 11am and the dude was just on a short 10 min break. the electronics guys just told me as such and I just browsed the store for a few minutes.

:shrugs:

Yup. I rarely get in on these deals on time, but I managed to get $250 freaking USA dollars for 5 games I bought through other deals. I'm pretty sure I'm about +250 so far into this new gen between flipping consoles and amazing sales.

Looked like the guy didn't even show up.

Anyone know if you can buy a visa gift card at Target? I have 150 dollars in best buy credit so if I turn 150 worth at Target I should be able to get it in visa gift cards and use them at Best Buy correct?

Hmm.. Shin Megami Tensei four is going for $30 and animal crossing for $21 and Suikoden 3 for $15...Should I bite? Will probably get a PSN card.

Scan?

My guy didn't scan anything but the gift card that he gave me. He just selected the games from a drop down menu at the mobile kiosk. I used to work at Target 10+ years ago, so I can understand people not knwoing how to do anything. Their training module sucked. But still, it looks incredibly straightforward. Like I said, I could do it, and I had just seen the system for the first time.

No idea man. The girl obviously had no clue what she was doing. Apparently she had been on the phone with some help line for 45 minutes before I arrived, and she still couldn't figure it out.

Guess I lucked out getting to Target when I did.

Got $105 for Kingdom Hearts 3D, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Dynasty Warriors 8.

However, the guy who handled my trade-in said the money I received had to be used in the electronics section. He held my card until I found some games or other stuff to purchase.

He said this trade-in program is being used to boost traffic in electronics, hence the requirement. Granted it sounds like a load considering the stories in this thread of people getting gift cards to spend anywhere in the store, but I let it go.

Ended up walking out with $100 in PSN cards and The French Connection on blu-ray.

EDIT: I nearly forgot.
When I handed him the blu-ray he says "Have you played this game before? What do you know about it?"
"...It's a movie."

Went to Target earlier and walked away with $120 for 3 games. The values dropped within the 20 minutes it took for me to check the prices before I left the house and get to Target and make the trade in. Was expecting to get $150. The biggest drop was Assassins Creed 4 PS4, 17.xx to 11.xx. Still a good deal though, along with AC4 I traded in Madden PS4 and GTAV PS3. Will use the $120 to get Wolfenstein and Watch Dogs which was the goal to have those paid for, can't complain.

Oh wow! Glad I went to a different Target than wait for supposedly the only person in the entire store that could do it at the other store. Would have cost me $40 had I waited. -

Now I just need some games to get dated. I know I am getting Watch Dogs, but after that it gets a lot less clearer what is coming when.

Not with a gift card. So with this promotion, no.

Bah I'm getting conflicting messages from CAG. By no do you mean no the register wont allow it or no you aren't supposed to use a target gift card to buy visa gift cards?

I know you can buy PSN/XBL cards at least right?
