Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles |OT| Nickelodeon made a funny!

It was one of the most intense I've ever seen in a kids' show.

There are a lot of young kids, like 4, 5, 6, 7yo who watch this. Sometimes I wonder how they react to a lot of the creatures on this show because they can be pretty creepy. I love it, but I have my worries.

Not that I want them to tone it down. Just wish I had some insight into their decision process for this kind of thing. How do they know when they've gone too far?
I watch with my four year old and aside from some "what the heck"s, he's fine. It helps watching with him and not letting the tv be a babysitter as I imagine uninterested (in children's cartoons) fathers would do.

Stupid PVR has the episodes for the third season named under the Fast Forward old series title so its messed up my collection. Frustrating.

Episode 1 was good. Seth Green's voice is a little jarring but it shouldn't take long to get used to it.

The Revoltech figurines seem awesome :)

Also, this episode was cool, loved many scenes, especially "Leo"s "Right here.." with Raph's horrified look.

Holy The Thing, Batman ! =O

This show has been going pretty hardcore on the "scary for kids" stuff since the beginning of the show, really, with way more gruesome mutations and creepy scenes.

This episode was an amazing metaphor for the new Ninja Turtles movie: Just because something wears the skin of something you love, doesn't mean it isn't a horrific tentacle monster out to destroy everything you care about.

Boo. The Revoltech TMNT figures are discontinued on the hlj site and no longer available to purchase.

Big Bad Toys has them but the shipping is way more expensive than even hlj. I guess I'll have to live without them, though even just Raph would be cool.

I think I'd definitely be freaked out a bit at some of the stuff they've pulled if I were watching this at the age of seven or so.

Except the movie was very enjoyable; entertaining and funny. But "My childhood!", "Damn Michael Bay!", and "Megan Fox is the worst!" and all that.

Edit: If they announced a movie based on the old turtles with the same lame surfer lingo, corny Shredder, terrible Bebop and Rocksteady and shitty Kraang droid design, I wouldn't be back in turtle mode. It was the new designs that brought back my childhood and lead me to check out this new series. Win win for me and the brand as I've been a huge monetary contributer and the show, toys, book, documentary and movie have provided my family with tons of entertainment. More so than nostalgia goggles and narrow-mindedness.

The TMNT 2014 movie was mediocre...
It probably had more titular character action than most superhero origin movies I've seen in a while. Sure, it missed the character development of said characters, but my gripe is with those crying about their childhood cartoon nostalgia and not with people looking for Citizen Kraang.
yeeeep...

Yeah, the old TMNT movies don't necessarily hold up. 2014 movie was good. I had so much fun watching it.

Now this show, I am blown away that they are putting a lot of effort into it. So much better than all the old series. Seth Green is growing on me a bit more and I don't mind that we don't know the full extent of April's Powers yet. It is a big point of the series, shouldn't be quickly spelled out to us.

Booo. When
is that bebop and rocksteady episode suppose to be? I'm guessing the season finale?

Probably mid season ... i think they will stay in the woods till Leo gets ok and then go back for round 2 in the city. I thinkt they will keep the most fantastical stuff for the woods like
carebeavers and time traveler girl for the "spiritual quest" (maybe Usagi teaches a thing or two for Leo about swordfighting =D)
leaving
Hun and Beebop and Rocksteady
for the second middle of the season

Just saw the 1st episode of Season 3...I loved the Friday the 13th references, it was brilliantly done. Also, I need to get used to Seth Green voicing Leo.

A kid's cartoon doing The Thing is not what I expected, but this show's makers seem pretty determined to scare all the kids watching this to death, judging by the amount of creepy monsters and scenes packed into this show over the three seasons.

This one might have taken the cake, though.

^The only one my son was actually afraid of was the one with the wasp(s) (I forget how many there were since I've watched it the least as a result lol). It's been a while and there's been scarier episodes so I wonder if he'd still be afraid of it.

Aparently the episodes come back this week and we have names !

4-
The Croaking
5-
Dream Beaver
6-
Race with the Demon
7-
Spirit Quest

Pretty self explanatory names if you saw the latest Comic Con spoilers

So here's a panoramic shot of my son's room. It's mostly complete but his room isn't put back together yet. I tried capturing their personalities with their eyes and brow lines. Leo being my favorite, I'm a bit disappointed with my interpretation lol.

Episode was worth alone for the "artist sketch" xD

My wife and I, as fans of the new movie, were cracking up and had to rewind and pause it. I was actually hoping to see those three as opposed to what we got.

Side note: Anyone else disappointed that every other mutant looks like their animal counterpart except for the turtles? Not that I want to see that in this show, but the other mutants could very easily be depicted as a bit more human-esque, no? That's what I love about the new movie, the fact that they aren't cute and squeaky clean.

Well the first one is a simplified version of Napoleon Bonafrog that we had in the episode.

Second one is a version of 80's bonafrog

It was a pretty okay episode, I did not like that Napoleon had the same personality as Napoleon Dynamite and acted like him. Yeah, same actor I know. Probably good for all those who are fans of ND. Still I didn't like that personally and I feared this was going to be the case.
But the episode was as I said okay and I loved the wanted sketch. XD
Looking forward to the next episode.

This show is obviously created by people who love their horror. Funny that for the dream episode they don't tribute Nightmare on Elm Street but
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
instead. I was even like "Wow that guy sounds just like
Choptop
"! And it turns out it was voiced by
Bill Mosely
!

So far the horror references I've caught in the show so far:
Re-Animator (with Jeffrey Combs injecting subjects with green goo)
Night of the Living Dead
Creepshow
Friday the 13th 2,3,6
Evil Dead
Phantasm
The Thing
The Fly
Alien
Texas Chainsaw Massacre

What is going on with this show? This is just the last horror spoof I can stomach. One time I considered this show objectively good regardless of it being a kid's show, but this is too out there for me.

I think there are a lot of factors at play here. For one, their interst in the horror genre as mentioned by someone above. But I imagine trying to come up with unique ideas for toys (or plushies), working with specific actors and framing the show around a creeky "cabin in the woods" has some influence. I'm sure we'll get other genre spoofs once they get back to the militarized city.

This episode makes me think that as soon as we see the spirit trianing stuff things will get serious bussiness with the storyline

Well damn, that's pretty cool. Didn't even think to check who voice acted the beavers. Also saw that John "The Cryptkeeper" Kassir voiced one as well!

I think they're just trying to get as much mileage out of the setting at possible before they get back to the city to continue the main storyline. Plus the horror film spoofs on the show is nothing new. Season One was loaded with them as well. They are probably front loading everything this season before moving back onto the Kraang and Shredder.

Seems that way. What else can they adapt before the inevitable return (that we don't know about yet)?

... nnnnnnnnNOPE.

Would be awesome if what makes them go back to the city is some kind of "purge button" that releases lots of monsters xD

I don't disagree with you... they are stalling the plot with lots of one-off villain episodes, we've already seen them pull this strategy in past seasons, but it feels too overt this season.

It is frustrating to me, because while the show has SO MUCH going for it, it's clearly being held back for some reason. They seem more interested in isolated episodes than doing actual stories. Something we have to live with regarding this show: there will be moments of greatness interspaced with lots of standard kid action show fare. But at least it rises above most shows in its category.

I hope that the upcoming spirit quest (or whatever it's called) arc in this season can help redeem it.

Sounds like a ploy to sell more toys.
