Tekken 7 Online Issues

However the developers should give us the option to opt out in case a user is on WiFi and I'm glad NRS is pioneering the way for other devs to hopefully follow suit.

Wait what? Thats really cool and something I've wished in a bunch of online games not just fighting games

Do you have a link where this is stated?

I can't select opponents on ranked battle without it timing out, but I can do a quick match no problem. The other issue I have is 3 bar opponents. There's almost always two good hiccups in between rounds where the frames freeze forcing me to drop a combo. Hopefully they'll patch it soon. The game is good otherwise.

Packet loss and interference over wifi affects everyone. This isn't some "lol just pros need to worry about it" thing, it's something that affects everyone and that wildly varies depending on your router and environment. Just because you think everything's fine and dandy doesn't mean you're not actually spitting out an inherently worse and less reliable connection out to others to deal with.

If you have any realistic means of playing over ethernet, you need to make the conscious effort to do so, especially with a fighting game.
I mean, when I said others I meant others playing against me. They haven't noticed any difference when I've been playing via wired or WiFi. It is anecdotal, sure.

You said it yourself though it can vary widely on router and environment. While Wi-Fi will never be as good as wired, it still isn't always doom and gloom like some people here seem to suggest.

Fact is, for some people it's impossible to go fully wired. That's why I have powerline adapters lying around in my current situation. I can plug it into a console or pc when I need to. Getting an actual cable going through ones house can cost a lot of money. I think it's a bit elitist and unfair to go everyone who uses WiFi is going to negatively affect your experience with the game and so they should be avoided like the plague. I'm somewhat fortunate that a powerline adapter even works, in some houses it isn't due to how the wiring/circuits are done.

Whatever though, I guess it's optional.

its not that hard to go wired. most people just don't want to. for example most cable companies will give you more outlets for free. running wire isn't that hard you can even do it outside if you don't have drop ceiling, crawlspace , attic. if you have any of those it's dead easy I wired my whole house with cable, speaker wire just for fun.

Also yes it does matter consistently. I even know which of my friends run wifi and at least once per week they are like "oh the games lagging I don't know what's going on" and I say "remember you are on wifi" and every single time they say " oh my router is the T1000 cyberdyne systems polyliquid metal edition".... then they go reset all their shit and magically it is fine again for a day or week or hour. And of course their significant O will be on Netflix in the next room or something.......... I used to even avoid certain friends online because I knew the whole session would be lagged out 1/3 times or so. Halo, Destiny, R6, Ghost Recon, same friends , same issues.

Plus on Ps4 its pretty widely known that the wifi system is pretty budget so that probably doesn't help. sorry but if I have a system to avoid wifi (I already do) then I would. I have pretty much stopped playing games with P2P servers ages ago (point being I may actually buy those games if I knew others were on a reliable connection).

Well, at least you still gets lots of great offline content to play around with.

(enormous /s here, obviously)

I've had good online so far on PC, barring some weird design decisions (where's the rematch option, Namco?), but still having multiplayer issues on PS4 is inexcusable. I like the gameplay quite a bit, but with broken multiplayer and the terrible story mode I have no idea how Tekken 7 got such high reviews.

(But Street Fighter 5 was still a worse launch.)

I haven't been able to play a single match of T7 online. No problem with Injustice 2, MKXL, DoA5, or anything else.

Wifi is fine, If you have a decent router, and internet.

Its the Morons who try play 1, 2 and 3 bar connections across continents who Piss me off.
Also Why every Fighting game should have a Flag indicator.

I'm In Ireland no I won't play Brazilians or Koreans ffs.

Have you ran a ping test over an extended duration while on a wifi connection?

Is there a test you recommend running?

I'm on wifi and ran this test just now: http://www.dslreports.com/tools/pingtest

A+
A+
A+

It runs 50 pings every second, rates the quality from A+ to F every 30 seconds.
Ping to London (where I am stays at 9).

5GHz router, a few walls away.

I usually just run the Windows ping tool via the command prompt over an extended duration. Most WiFi I've tried this gives you pretty spiky results.

I've been running this command ping 192.168.0.1 -t and averaging 6ms but there are spikes up to 100ms every now and then, but no packet loss. I left it on for like 10 minutes but I am watching giant bomb and browsing online.

I wonder if it wouldn't spike at all with a wired connection. Might test it on a laptop later.

This is my result on wired.

Holy shit.

I'm going to need a drill and a really long ethernet cable...

--I'm going try moving the receiver and keeping the ping command running. See if I can find somewhere more stable ? I dunno.

Which is why I dislike Ranked in SFV and this. SFIV had it fine but people farming BP off themselves/easy opponents was probably what made them want to change it.

Your standards of fine are not the same as mine and even if there are wifi setups that are as good as wired (which i really doubt based on my experience) most people have shitty wifi which causes problems so it is logical for players who use cables to want to avoid them.

On PC, played a few matches and had no lag at all (wired) . Don't want to really dive in untill I learn a char better.

Game is damn good though. Haven't played Tekken since Tag 1

No, please do not use wifi.

If there's no way for a direct lan connection use at least a powerline adapter which are really cheap.

Seriously, don't use wifi for (fighting) games.

Fighting games especially need the most reliable connections you can possible offer.
Every frame matters there.

How is it possible that nobody ever thought about tournament host migration? At least 50% of hosts just disconnect once they get eliminated out of their own tournament.

This feels like a major oversight. Tournament mode is really fun, but like I want to not waste 20 minutes with no reward because the host left.

I'm hoping the patch this weekend fixes the issues.

Have been playing normally since release yes a few drops here and there nothing big to be a crybaby.

Which platform? PC and XB1 were not affected. The problem was the PS4 version, which Namco acknowledged and is patching today.

Now that I can finally play the f* game on PS4 I noticed the horrible built-in input delay.. what's up with that? Why did they do that? It's so annoying

I wonder wether I show up as using wifi?

I'm wired into a homeplug. But on a 100mb connection.
Speed tests on PS4 show i get like 90% so it's cool.

Was the ps4 version but out of 10 match ranked i played 7 without issues.... and the other 3 was no conections.

No lag or drop match in the battle.

Just tried it. Still shit for me.

Yeah ffs still broken for me.

I did get my first ranked match but that's it. Just one.

Anyone else still having problems.

I notice match list is removed, so only waiting mode. Now I get only a few attempted connections and most didn't work.

I love the game but this is making be want a refund, the product does not work as described.

It's still shit and completely unacceptable on ps4.

On PS4. It has been flawless for me now in all areas since the update. I'm getting into ranked matches easily too. The only thing that ever gives me an error of any kind is when I try to join a lobby with only 1 spot left. Sometimes it says the lobby is unavailable. I assume that is happening because somebody else took that spot before I joined and the lobby status info isn't 100% up to date.

Online on PS4 is still busted for me. Can't find a match to save my life, and the matches against people I know aren't that great.

For reference, I played against a dude in IJ2 and the ping was showing 20ms (we're both wired). The match was flawless. Played again in SFV, match was flawless.

Tekken 7? Four bars
