This is dumb.
why is it so wrong to wait until they are older? Just talk about it during sex ed make sex ed a week or two weeks long and cover tons of aspects. Mind telling me where I said that or are just trying to put words in my mouth?Funky Papa said:So flowers and bees PG13? Telling little Paul that his friend Johnny is perfectly normal for having two daddies is wrong? Could you please explain me why?

I will not be having my child indoctrinated with Homosexual Darwinian Stalinist Copernican dogma!madara said:Guess that is far as long as they dont talk about seafood, hooved animals, multiple types of fabric, modern day science either.
That you're a dumbass?Dunk#7 said:Probably because he cannot possibly have two daddies. Not genetically possible.
If you took homosexuality to the extreme then the world would cease to exist. That has to tell you something.
You send the message that homosexuality is something inappropriate for them to learn at that age, automatically making it something "dark".Zeke said:why is it so wrong to wait until they are older? Just talk about it during sex ed make sex ed a week or two weeks long and cover tons of aspects.

that makes no sense. They are second graders ffs let them be kids part of being a kid is blissful ignorance. Whats the big deal about waiting 3 years?Funky Papa said:You send the message that homosexuality is something inappropiate for them to learn at that age, automatically making it something "dark".

What does that even mean??????He clarified this past September that he supports promoting tolerance, but not acceptance
You keep telling me that I'm talking about homosexuality, I'm not. I am talking about sexuality in general. I don't think teachers should be teaching kids in the second grade about any type, I think that should be the parents jobs. If a child is asking questions, the teacher should do their best to answer them, but they need to let the parents know so that they can finish the conversation.Suairyu said:Then your point is misguided and false. Sexuality is about more than explicit hunky chunky anal sex. Teachers have every business (and most definitely should) explaining to children that some people have romantic affiliations with members of the same sex. By restricting it to a "only when you're older" thing, you're saying, intentionally or not, that homosexuality is something dirty that an innocent child shouldn't learn about.
Which is quite obviously bullshit.

Uh you do realize that kids go to school to learn? so that they aren't "Blissfully Ignorant" of the world around them right?Zeke said:that makes no sense. They are second graders ffs let them be kids part of being a kid is blissful ignorance. Whats the big about waiting 3 years?

Our path to Heaven has NOTHING to do with what we do. Works do not get you into Heaven. It all hinges on if you accept Jesus' payment for your sins.
All other religions teach a works based path to heaven. Everybody has this concept in their head that at the end of their life their good and bad works will be put on a scale and they will be given admittance based on the tilt of the scale. This could not be further from the truth.
Nothing you do can get you into Heaven. Nothing you do can keep you out of Heaven. It is all about what Jesus has already done and if you accept it.
We are not talking about the lurid details of buttseqs, just telling them that having parents of the same sex is ok if the question arises. Also, school is a place for book learnin and edumacation.Zeke said:that makes no sense. They are second graders ffs let them be kids part of being a kid is blissful ignorance. yes obviously but it doesn't mean they aren't ignorant of a lot of things. I become sexually active in middle school so yes I know kids are fucking. What wait and see approach are you talking about? Its fifth fucking grade not junior year in high school. Shit like teen pregnancy and STD rates are high because sex ed doesn't teach kids fuck all about sex. Most programs are based on abstinence. Thats why those rates are so fucking high people rather teach no sex then safe sex. It has little to do with the age you teach.Henchmen21 said:Uh you do realize that kids go to school to learn? so that they aren't "Blissfully Ignorant" of the world around them right?
3 years? Dude more and more junior high age kids are becoming sexually active. This whole wait & see approach that the puritanical set have tried for the last 30 years clearly hasn't worked (not that it ever would). Besides, kids should be taught about puberty before they reach it so they're better prepared. Many other countries teach their kids about this stuff earlier than we do and their teen pregnancy & STD rates are lower than ours.
astroturfing said:no, the world would still be here. and wtf is your point? the fact is that homosexuality isn't "spreading", humanity can never be 100% homosexual (OR 100% heterosexual). it's logical and natural that there is variety in sexual identities, and the heterosexual/homosexual ratio has remained pretty much the same all throughout history (i think).
also, my friend is adopted, he shouldn't call his parents mom and dad just because they aren't genetically related? ok..
There are other animals that have homosexuality tendencies. Are animals unnatural?Dunk#7 said:The point I am getting at is simply that you cannot reproduce that way. That fact in itself shows that you are not operating within your bodies intended purpose and it is therefore unnatural.
Even off of the religious debate it does not make sense based on our bodies functions.
So what about homosexual behaviour happening among wild animals? How's that unnatural?Dunk#7 said:The point I am getting at is simply that you cannot reproduce that way. That fact in itself shows that you are not operating within your bodies intended purpose and it is therefore unnatural.

Gotta say I missed that class. If I can take one thing away and say, hey, you dont have to teach about homosexuality to your second-graders, you can spend more time on arithmetic.

How are teachers supposed to stop bullying then, usually classroom slurs involve aspersions upon someone's sexuality.

You do realise this particular interpretation of the bible and how you get into heaven is mostly limited to America and evangelical teachings? Most Christians around the world don't believe what you believe.Dunk#7 said:You are horribly misunderstanding the Bible. There is a large difference between the Old and New Testaments. By second grade those innocent kids already understand "man falls in love with woman get's married lives happily ever after". What is so wrong about allowing them to understand "man falls in love with man gets married if his country/state isn't run by evil people lives happily ever after"?Zeke said:that makes no sense. hahahahahaDunk#7 said:1. They are "wild" animals just as you said. Why does what they do have any relevance on human behavior?
2. Humans are on an entirely different level from animals. Created in the image of God. Animals are not meant to be the guidebook of morality lol can you imagine if we based our lives on animal behavior?
3. Are you saying two wrongs make a right?

Okay, that trumps my point in spades. Surely people who are anti-Gay would want a counsellor to be able to talk about such things, even if only to try and de-gay them?Patryn said:The more damaging aspect is that this bill would prevent school counselors from dealing with a child's homosexuality when they try to help them. It basically handcuffs them.

well humans are animals just really smart animals. Take away our highly advanced brain and we're back to grunts, clubs, and living in the woods.Dunk#7 said:1. They are "wild" animals just as you said. Why does what they do have any relevance on human behavior?

Would messing with free speech in that way really be any better than messing with free speech in this way?Alucrid said:I thought this might have had to do with stopping people from saying, "That's so gay" or "Your gay" or something, not this. :\

Soo... you've been to America?Dunk#7 said:I beg to differ. I have been to Chile, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. All the same teachings.
Dude the GOP & the Religious Right for the past 30 years constantly get their panties in a bunch if any form of sex ed is brought up. They just want to ignore it and hope it goes away (course then their kid gets knocked up and they ask "how did this happen"?!!!)Zeke said:What wait and see approach are you talking about?
Yes and one of the reasons is we wait to long to teach them...along with the woefully inadequate sex ed we do have.Shit like teen pregnancy and STD rates are high because sex ed doesn't teach kids fuck all about sex. Most programs are based on abstinence. Thats why those rates are so fucking high people rather teach no sex then safe sex. It has little to do with the age you teach.
In 2009, Campfield explained that hes not homophobic; its just that the issue is complex.
