Finally caught up. This show is so good. But man, every episode the theme song just gets more and more incongruous.

"Stay away from your students or you'll never teach again."

*pause*
*moody dramatic shot of Hank*

"BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO
NEXT WEEK ON TERRIERS..."

Jesus Christ, man. Do something about that shit. Someone hire Hank and Britt...TO FIND NEW THEME MUSIC.

RIGHT?

So you think it fits perfectly? Mentally troubled woman stuck in bathroom with corpse that could destroy her brother's life?

"BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO BOO...."

I'm not even saying it's a bad song. It just doesn't fit.

Agreed.

It's nice and unique but it just doesn't fit.

Yeah I think it fits. It a good contrast to the actual show. It reminds me of the marriage between the dark film noir storyline and the cheerfully bright San Diego(?) scenery this series pulls off so well.

Hm. I actually see what you're saying. But it just pulls me out of the mood so much.

I love the theme song.

Yup, that's why it works for me. They're living in a coastal paradise yet they're struggling to get by in all facets of their lives.

How do you not like the theme song, BB!!

And I just pimped Terriers on a fantasy baseball blog that I just started writing for. Too bad the blog also just started and we don't have many readers yet. :'(

- Interview: "Terriers" Co-Star Donal Logue *spoilers*
Ratings be damned, the freshman season of FX's "Terriers" is weekly bringing its loyal fan base the kind of show that leaves you hungry for more bantering between unconventional detectives Hank (Donal Logue) and Britt (Michael Raymond James), more unique cases to solve and, of course, to see just how much more complicated the guys' respective relationships can become.

With tonight's episode, "Pimp Daddy," things across the board move to the next level of messy and, as Logue told our Jim Halterman last week about what is to come, "the train rolls towards the cliff really fast." Logue also told us about just how challenging it is for him to shift gears from comedy to drama, whether Hank will be driven back to the bottle if he doesn't win back his ex-wife and about the recent tour that Logue and James embarked on to spread the word on this gem of a show.

Damn, Hank just got played by Jason. This scene is heartbreaking.
Yea, I expected Hank to go there, but now that you mention it, I didn't think Jason would totally punk his ass.

The thing is that Gretchen has a good point - Hank's way over the line with what he's been doing, but at the same time his actions are completely understandable. The Britt and Katie thing is similar. This show has done an amazing job of putting characters in these fucked up situations. Great episode.

So far the best episodes of this have been when the situations get really fucked up and the characters have to deal with it.
This episode was about two separate cold cases with no action and it was still brilliant.
And these relationships are so messed up but you can't help but feel for everyone in them. On one hand I'm pissed at Gretchen for reaming Hank when he tried to help, and on the other I'm disappointed in Hank for being a nosy jerk. On one hand I'm angry Katie hasn't confided anything with Britt yet when he's showing his love in these amazing ways, and on the other I understand because it could tear Britt apart.

Another good episode.

Closing in on the end of the season, and it sucks that this great show is going largely unnoticed by the masses. Hoping for an FX miracle season 2 pick up.

Yeah it's fantastic. Nothing ever ends up wrapped in a bow, with David Caruso swishing 3s.

I kind of wonder if Hank should have taken Gretchen's advice about Britt and Katie, and let her decide what to do herself. He really makes a point to make decisions for people, even though I can always see why he does it. The baby thing he said to her was cold-blooded.

Man, this episode was just BRUTAL. I was cringing through most of it. "No, don't do it, Hank. Just...don't do it."

It's a rare wonderful thing when I get so wrapped up in a TV show that I'm surprised when commercials show up. Tonight's episode did that to me. Just great stuff.

Although I did find the character of Michaela to be woodenly acted, no pun intended.

Finally got caught up on the past 3 episodes. I dunno what else to say. This somehow needs to be renewed for a second season.

This is easily one of the most down to earth shows. The characters just feel real.

I hope to god Britt is the father of the child. If not, I'll be pretty pissed off with the show.

It's still going strong and I really hope it gets renewed :D

edit: I absolutely loved the ending. I just hope things aren't always going badly.

What is with the "too small to fail" thing that has been running in the bottom on screen adverts
That was one of the original taglines for the show.

Terriers from Creator/Executive Producer Ted Griffin (Ocean’s Eleven, Matchstick Men) and Executive Producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield), is a comedic drama starring Donal Logue (The Tao of Steve) and Michael Raymond-James (True Blood). It centers on “Hank Dolworth” (Logue), an ex-cop, who partners with his best friend “Britt Pollack” (Raymond-James) in an unlicensed private investigation business. Comedic, edgy, original, a show about high stakes in the face of low expectations, Terriers explores what it’s like in today’s America to be “too small to fail.”

Theme song is amazing and perfectly fits the Cali/beach theme of the show. I wouldn't change it or any other aspect of the show.

The theme song is great, actually the whole opening sequence is great. Reminds me of Pulp Fiction for some reason.

Matt Roush at TV Guide fighting the good fight and continuing to support Terriers:

- Roush Review: Give Terriers a Chance
I guarantee you won't find a more satisfying and electrifying hour of drama anywhere on TV this week. Donal Logue and Michael Raymond-James are astounding, as they lift and break the heart with unaffected honesty and genuine empathy. Give this show a look, and you'll be hooked for the rest of the run.

Btw, Carson Daly tweeted on Monday that Donal would be on his show tonight... haven't followed up to confirm but I intend to DVR it just in case.

- Televisionary: Biting Back: An Advance Review of the Final Four Episodes of FX's Terriers *spoilers*
I ripped into these next four installments with my teeth last week, insatiable for more of this groundbreaking series, and I wasn't disappointed in the least. In fact, I think that they rank up there with the very best that the series has produced to date, as the serialized plot is shifted into high gear and secrets--both big and small--begin to spill out onto the pavement of Ocean Beach.

Only watched the first three episodes so far, but really digging this show. Hope to get caught up soon. Some really great writing and acting, and they always seem to take one step forward and two steps back in the karma department.
