Test Drive: Ferrari Announced

Shift 2 is truly amazing if you play it on PC with a good steering wheel (ie: Fanatec) and with the PTMu physics mod.

The game has amazing graphics, superb sense of speed and the best track selection of any racing game ever... It's also the most nervracking racing game I've ever played. I managed to fall asleep once playing Forza (not saying it's a bad game mind you...) but playing Shift 2 is a real workout.

I play with a Fanatec wheel on both console and pc. Even with the mod though, there's still some shit in there.
But I agree, an amazing racing experience, a great detail of car culture in general, the sounds and tracks are all things that i love about the game. If EA let SMS take complete charge of the game instead of butting in all the time, I believe the driving model would have been much better.
I really hope that SMS make SHIFT 3....I really do...

Yeah but I think that EA still holds the Shift license and SMS are not with them anymore. C.A.R.S. will be the Shift 3 equivalent.

No way, I think they need to focus on other things, such as the Test Drive license, which they probably have complete freedom with. I'm thinking this Ferrari title will only be a test game to get the franchise back on its feet, which will then lead to a real Forza/GT competitor that I can play on my PC with mod support. A man can dream right?

My friend was pointing out earlier. The TD:Ferrari game almost sound like a Ferrari DLC for Shift 2 that they wanted to do (like they did with Shift 1) but couldn't because of EA so they ended up doing it as a standalone game.

There was a recent interview with various racing game devs discussing racing games in general. A question was posed to SMS regarding SHIFT 3. The answer was, "We can't comment on that yet as nothing has been announced".
I'm looking forward to c.a.r.s but I really love what SMS has done with SHIFT 2. The essence of the sport, the culture, all those little things that mattered...I want to see that again....cries......

WTF? Why would they not release it over here? Do they not like money?
I took the quote you referred to as: "Besides the United Kingdom, BigBen Interactive will release the title in most major European countries." Meaning; in addition to. Their statement doesn't preclude the UK, imo.

Which is why I just can't get on board with trying it. Graphics aside, I just can't see how it can possibly be better than rFactor 2. Now that's a game that's God Tier.

Will this have a bunch of Ferraris? Ferraris are my favorite!

Edit:
Enjoy some of Ferrari's greatest moments from the past 60 years with over 50 vehicles including classic and modern Street, GT and Formula 1 cars. Drive on the greatest circuits around the glode including Spa-Francorchamps, Nürburging Nordschleife as well as Ferrari's very own Fiorano Test Track.
OMG YES!

That video is new to me, and underwhelming.

Hopefully we get a 2012 trailer soon.

Ha ha, I think I've fallen asleep at least once playing every version of Gran Turismo at some point. I still like the series for some of the things it does, but as a game, it is pretty damn boring. I bought Shift 2 for PS3 just a couple months ago and have been enjoying it quit a bit. And I just took advantage of the sale on the extra content and I love the legends stuff, it's great. Yeah, the game is far from perfect, but the career mode is extremely fun to me. And the fact that you can set up your own races is a god send. Underrated game.

BS. Shift 2 has horrible driving physics, not realistic at all.

I'm confused about that press release, does it mean that the US version is PS3 only? Not that it matters to me, I have a PS3, so I'll get it anyways. I just prefer the Xbox 360 gamepad for racers.

The 360 boxart is U.S. art (ESRB rating), so I'd say quite confidently that it's coming out here.

I only pray for a half-decent 900-degree wheel support.

Half decent. Make it on levels of Eutechnyx's Ferrari Challenge and I'll cry tears of joy.

Please.

Nope, the press release at that link even shows the 360 boxart:

I did not like this box art. Looks a bad Genesis boxart, which the vertical Test Drive covering a lot of the box.

My thoughts exactly. I didn't even get 30 minutes into TDU2 before I switched it off forever.

this will likely be virtually the same core game as shift 2 and have NOTHING to do with TDU

is coming in a bit over 2 months and theres not much out there, that worries me a bit.

yeah. the one trailer out there looked great though, even if, apparently, it was quiet early and doesnt resemble where its at now. sms, lets see more already!

i am mostly curious to see how the handling is. i imagine it'll be more sim then the shift series without EA looking over their shoulders, but who knows. atari may be doing the same to ensure TD is accessible to the masses.

So can we officially hate EA now for not sharing the Porsche license when it's clear that T10 is willing to cut deals for the Ferrari license? :D

I hope they release a demo of sorts. I'm loving the car and track count but need to feel the driving and hear some sounds...oh, and I hope they've fixed the wheel issues they had from SHIFT..

Nice track list, after my season pass runs out I'll be fucked if I'm spending anymore money on Forza DLC without new tracks, this game could tide me over until Forza 5 if it plays well.

Yes. Ha! And they squandered it too, with just a few offerings in The Run.
I think MS did this deal with Blimely/SMS a while ago. But the 458 is probably a newer negotiation I'd imagine. I'm happy it's in. Hoping we get the 458 Challenge or GT too.

I doubt they'll be one. The man, the myth, the legend, Badned said on FC there was no word of a demo at this point.

wtf, Assen didn't make the cut? Absolute madness.

Such an awesome track yet it's only been used in one good game this gen:

Official Track List

Man that is a great track list. I wish other devs would take some risks and add some classic tracks. There are so many great tracks out there waiting to be discovered by gamers and racing fans alike.

That list has helped spark more interest in the game for me. Any word on a PC version or is it console only? I only ask because I have a G27 so will be either PC or PS3 for me.

*edit*
Nm, just re-read the OP.

Did TDU2 ever get patched enough to be a good game? I know there were massive bugs on release which kept me from buying.
