TF2 Engineer update incoming?

Steam forums just exploded.

But yeah, I just read about the Southern Hospitality. All that's said is that it will use the bleed mechanic, and the mechanic will go through some kind of change in this update. I'll link the Valve employee post after the Steam forums come back.

According to yesterdays blog we still have one melee slot weapon left
so many questions left unanswered, hurry Valve!

Edit: nevermind then, it's been fixed

Mini sentries is GREAT. You can completely cover an area and it fucks over spies.

Engie pairs are going to be sweet. One vanilla and one Gunslinger could be a tough combo.

How come there's an achievement telling you to use your guitar to kill someone, but also one to provide a taunt of you playing it. It's gotta be it's own weapon right?

Replaces the pistol. Not sure they would make a mistake of this calibre. So what about that 'other melee item slot'?

Taunt kills.

Yea so are there simply no milestone achievements for engineer? Are we going to get these unlocks some other way?

I don't think achievement lists in updates like this even showed milestone ones, they will be there just ingame, not on that page.

MINI SENTRIES AWWESSSSOOOMMMMEEE!!!!!

I wonder if a Gunslinging Engie can also deploy Dispensers and Teleports. This would be a great offensive Engie weapon. On payload maps you build up your teleport to level 3, run up and into a room out of the way, toss down a teleport and BOOM 3 mini sentries. Instant base building.

Love it.

Frontier Justice + Mini-sentries = crits galore?
:D

They're probably going to put a cap on the amount of mini sentries out at a time later on. :(

Way it sounds right now, you can place 2 for every metal replenish...so effectively you could place them all over the map.

Its gotta be like three max out at once. As many as you want would be insane.

......insanely awesome mauahahahahahahahahaaha!

It's a taunt kill.

I'm going over these with a friend and pointing out a lot of stuff. Maybe I should copy paste the conversation...

Looks like if you do the gunslinger you'll have to rely on other engies to take care of your tele and dispenser. You could just drop them off at a sentry nest and then go wild with your mini sentries/shotgun

Yeah it just threw me off that there was 2 separate achievements linking to the guitar, but I realize now that there's probably just 2 taunts for 2 weapons.

Even with a limit (3 seems reasonable, rule or 3 and all. Plus 3 may add up to a level 3 normal sentry) if they are placed strategically they could rack up assists and kills and when you need crits just self destruct them if they haven't been destroyed by the other team.

Or he strums the guitar for a bit before the actual kill part of the taunt, like every other taunt kill.

"In the description of the Gunslinger, mini-sentries is circled. :P"

The plurality of it isn't circled and they use normal Sentries as well, and we all know you can only build one of those.

So there is going to be 3 new maps? I was reading the two last night as being the same place.

Though it looks like they are all Payload maps, with High Tower being a payload race, right?

:lol It does say mini-SENTRIES instead of normal SENTRIES.

But you'll have to be able to drop multiple minis because at half the damage of a normal, one wouldn't put a dent in anyone.

Pushback issues alone mean we won't see multiple mini-sentries. I guarantee it's still one at a time

I'd happily take 2 or more, of course!

If you can only build 1 of them, it's not going to be of any use... No upgrading of buildings AND it does half of a lvl1 sentry's damage? I'm going to assume it's mulitple sentries.

Or maybe it's intended to be used with the Wrangler.

It also says instead of normal sentries.

You probably have to use your build PDA.

However, since none of the new weapons seem to have it, it's more than likely that Wrench right click will from now on be Haul Building. I can't wait to move up teleporters without destroying them.

That would be overpowered, a nightmare to code correctly with multiple sentries (I'm 99% sure you don't have to point the wrangler at your sentry to use it, and you can Wrangle from behind walls), and impossible anyway since both replace your Pistol slot.

They're meant to compliment your melee/shotgunning, not turtle or hang out in one position.
