TF2 Engineer update incoming?

So the spiked wrench was made by Watchmaker? Was he one of the Polycount contest members?

This. Atleast give us some fucking descriptions... I'm liking the wall design, but give more description like the previous updates.
 
Valve milking the final class update, at least they showed up a picture of the new wrench.

I wonder what it will do exactly, more powerful? it's already one of the strongest melee weapons in the game next to the sniper's cleaver.

Might add the bleed ability to those hit by it, looks sharp.

I like payload maps, but...two payload maps, both in the same goldrush every-map style? Not a mountain map? Not a Halloween map? Not a snow map, or ice map, or Egypt map? ;_;

Playing TF2 has devolved into running around and shooting shit with no actual goal or purpose. I can't remember the last time I played a CTF map where people gave half a shit about the fucking intel briefcase.

Hightower looks like Payload Race, with an elevator gimmick.

You already don't have to do anything to get them, besides be in a server.

That would be a cool combo with the frontier justice. Make for a more mobile, more unpredictable engineer. I like the idea. (I'm assuming build and upgrade would draw from the same stat on this wrench)

Actually, I've seen someone point out that the map may be a payload race, if only because of the presence of a blue tower in the background.

What servers are you playing on? I don't think I've ever encountered any of that. I'm not even sure how one "flails around with their stupid hat".
 
The only servers I play on where people don't actually care about the objective are ones filled with bots. Regular servers are filled with tons of goal oriented players that are good with working together with each other.

I don't know what you're bitching about.

Oh, there are two cart icons, almost certainly payload race then. Cool, hopefully people will like it better than pipeline. :P
 
I'm not totally up on TF2's modes, so this may be a dumb question: What is with the idea of destroying those satellite dishes in the map picture?

Actually, I had been wondering for a bit if the Engineer might be being relocated to Australia - vocally - given that there's currently three 'American' classes. I discounted that, though, since the achievements still had a few Texas references in them

One thing that has struck me as a possibility: A user-created item has never previously been one of the big, official unlocks for an update, as far as I'm aware; they've all been valve-created. I wonder if there's still another Valve-created item as well as this spiky wrench.

Before this update there WERE no big updates where community items were even a possibility.

And yes, there is definitely another Valve item, undoubtedly. They've always saved the last item for the last day.

Those are just what you have to destroy. In a lot of maps you're either taking over or blowing up rockets and satellite dishes.

And bah at more payload related maps.

It looks like the lifts at the end of hightower basically work like Pipeline's ramps in the final map, so I imagine they only rise when there are people next to the cart. This could be very interesting, 'cause the endgame becomes a point where you have to stand on the cart while *right next to* the other team's cart, *and* if you fall off you're not going to be able to get back up.

The concept of the Equalizer was a community suggestion, if you are not just talking about the design.

Random Thought #1: I'm amused that the map doesn't even acknowledge the existence of Hydro.

Random Thought #2: Doesn't the red bomb blow up the blue base? You can see the red bomb directly underneath the red tower on the hightower picture (just under the GH). That suggests that - opposite the side we're looking at with the destinations - there's a crossover point behind the central tower from which point you'd have to push the bomb directly past the enemy spawn.
 
Disappointed there's two payload maps. But if one of them is a new race I'll be happier.

Spiked wrench fits the bill for the final weapon. It's usually Primary/Secondary/Melee and we've had Primary/Secondary already.

I'm still wondering how all these updates makes the engineer more mobile. It just makes them harder to kill if they turtle.

Damn it was staring me in the face and I didn't even notice. That will certainly make for some epic races to the top of the elevator, assuming that is an elevator up to the satellite. I imagine it will be like the uphill sections of the plr maps that backtrack quickly if no one is on the cart. I hope that this is the case, twould be epic...

what's the payload map where the bomb would fall in to water if you aren't there to move it and everyone is next to each other. I love that custom map.
