Gunslinger replaces wrench. Pistol was a mistake.

The plurality of it isn't circled and they use normal Sentries as well, and we all know you can only build one of those.

Bah, missed that. Still, I'm going to assume it's more than one. Unless, you can drop a regular and a mini. Then, that makes sense.

Exactly. Which is why it's find trade off. You need to use surprise and combined fire even more than before.
 
Where are people getting the Gunslinger replacing the pistol? It clearly says it replaces the wrench.

Anyone who has played an offensive "battle engie" knows that level 1 sentries are completely dangerous when placed in the middle of combat. The fact it builds incredibly quickly and with full health is DEFINITELY benefit enough

I'd be surprised. The "no upgrades or repairs" bit is under mini-sentries, not the Gunslinger. People would bitch endlessly if you couldn't still put up level 3 teleporters.
 
Dropping level 1 sentries in random places is a great way to rack up kills, if that's what you want instead of holding down a position. Being able to deploy them for less metal and faster is going to be fun.

So yeah. The same way you can drop normal sentries (ie, one at a time), you can drop mini-sentries. Is my conclusion, at least.

It said it replaced the pistol when the page first updated. Then it was changed.
 
the way the achievements are it makes it seem like you don't need to unlock anything to have the weapons

* Added The Frontier Justice.

* Engineers can now pickup & move their buildings.
* Added Engineer main menu music.
* Added 4 new maps:
o Thunder Mountain, a 3 stage Payload map.
o Hightower, a Payload Race map.
o Upward, a Payload map.
o ColdFront, a community built Capture Point map.
* Item tuning:
o The Sandvich now uses a cooldown timer, instead of the health pack recharge mechanic.
o The Gunboats now reduce self-damage by 60% (was 75%)
o The Tribalman's Shiv bleed duration reduced to 6 second (was 8), and its damage penalty increased to 50% (was 35%).
* Added better feedback sound for Pyros on when their flamethrower is doing damage.
* Fixed blood effect on bleeding player.
* Added a glow effect to Payload carts.
* Added Romanian language support.

Remember the update. You can't easily just replace buildings because the Engineer is a vital support class.
 
One mini sentry is sort of lame. I understand it can help you hold an area a little better and you can be more mobile but it's more of a nuisance than actual help

Also, I looked it up. Level 1 sentries do 14-18 damage/64 DPS. Minis must do 7-9, which is probably 32 DPS, which is more than the shotgun does at medium range.

Rightclick, "Updates", "Don't update automatically", "OK."

Then go back and set it to "Update automatically" again, got the update downloading for me.
