The 3DS is the greatest console I have ever owned.

I would say it is one of the greatest system for me. But the lack of localization for the greatest jrpg ever (aka Dragon Quest VII) is such a letdown. It's really frustrating to think you have a great system overall with a fantastic remake of one of your GOTF but you can only play it in a language you can barely understand :-(

It still blows my mind to be able to play SF4 on a 3DS.

It's really lame as shit because of the easy 1 button bottom screen specials and ultras, but I like having a decent handheld fighter.

It is a great console, my only problem really is that I now wish it has a higher resolution. 240p and low ppi gets to me now that every device has higher resolutions than that.

I would counter and say the 3DS is the worst console purchase I've ever made. Archaic menus / UI, so-so graphics, and while there are quality games, I wasn't blown away. Best game on 3DS is ALBW.

I sold mine and am happy with just my Vita now. /shrug

Nah, I'd have to disagree. I haven't touched my 3DS in months, owning Zelda, every Pokemon, Fire Emblem Awakening, and SSB

Might get Majora's Mask but the system has been a huge letdown for me from the DS. Not enough games I enjoy to make me dust it off, and I don't have a N3DS for Xenoblade which would have pulled me back in in a heartbeat.

I agree with you Rich. I got into the 3DS late very late and while picking up some of these games is expensive now. I can say that I am really amazed by the 3DS. Never waited this long to pick up a Nintendo hand held but it is kind of cool since I have a huge library of titles to catch up on now. I own all the games you mentioned with the exception of Xenoblade and Mario Kart which I do plan to pick up soon.

Nintendo managed to sell me on every iteration of the 3DS. That being said, either I use it all the time or not at all. I go months at a time without using it occasionally but I have also had some of my best RPG experiences on it too.

It makes me feel conflicted but when I take a look at the sheer number of hours and money I've invested it comes up to more than other Nintendo products I've owned.

Does it beat out PS1-2 era for me? Not yet. Maybe after the cycle is done.

So, I just bought Shantae and the pirate's curse, not knowing what it was or how it played (never played one before, despite owning the one on Steam)

oooohhhh my godddddd this shit is incredible. This basically fills the metroidvania shaped void that my 3DS previously suffered from, and it looks fantastic on the New XL screen

damn son. new 2D metroid or a Aria of Sorrow remake for E3 please.

After the DS the 3DS is just heartbreaking to me. It still has the face of my old lover, but everything new about it inhibits what used to be defining characteristics. Beat for beat, game for game, it's all just steps backwards into something disappointingly conventional, and displaying them in 3D is no consolation.

Certainly, when removed from that context it's a nice handheld with some really good games, but the DS was legitimately gunning for PS2 level greatness in my book.

You're missing out on Ori and The Blind Forest if you haven't tried it already. A bonafide masterpiece in the metroidvania genre. Play it.

Haven't checked, but is it out on the Europe eShop?

Or is it a steam title? I remember it looking sweet

Edit: ah, PC. May have to get that one

Yeah the 3DS library is not as diverse or ground breaking. Most 3DS games are safe versions of their respective franchises.

Nintendo 3DS has a good library, but the specs are trash. I just wish it was a better piece of hardware, and more ergonomical. Thing is murder on the hands and the opposite of comfortable to play.

Nope. Worst handheld I've ever owned. Solid software ruined by absolutely horrible hardware. I couldn't play my 3DS for more than 20 minutes before my hand would cramp up, so I had to sell it. Shame, too. Lots of great games.

I have this problem too. I couldn't play the N3DS more than 15 min because my hands get unbearably hurt. It is weird because I never had this problem on any handheld. Not even a tiny GB micro. I think it has something to do with buttons placement and the bottom edgs of the system.
