Who is going to make the official thread? I want to start either a keynote bingo card or a bet on the announcements.
Go for it, but wait until this event is actually confirmed.

I wonder if they will do a price drop on the iPad 1.

Whelp....better get that iPad 32 gigger on Craigslist then. I'll probably throw in the official case and hope to get about $525 or so. It's in perfect condition so it should,'t be much trouble. Do people actually take that much in cash or do you prefer pay pal?

Sweet, time to get colberticalledit.gif ready
I hope

iPad 2:
Higher quality, lighter, reduced glare screen, but same res.
2 cameras
512mb ram
A5 processor
Expanded capacity to 32/64/128gb

How much would 512mb of RAM improve the overall speed of the iPad? Do you guys think you would still experience "catch up" when scrolling within Safari?

I think you're pretty spot on with that list. I'll hope for a gig of RAM though instead.

My hopes will get pissed on =(

Anyone here really think Apple will discuss the RAM or even mention how much it has? They've never done that for the iPhone/iPad before...

My guess is that they will just say 'it's insanely fast' and leave it at that.

Mine just sold for the $525 I was asking today on craigslist. After several $375 offers of course.

Nah, they won't. We'll have to wait for some tech site to take it apart before we find out.

exactly.

we'll have to wait till some either some devs or ifixit gets their hands on one

No way would they discuss it. If there's an A5 processor they'll mention that, they'll mention better battery life if there's that, same with storage, but RAM/clockspeed won't get figured out until the teardowns.

The only real FEATURE addition, as we know it, is FaceTime (and, maybe, the 'mystery port'). That and a sure-to-be-lovely new industrial design from Jony Ive. So unless they're also doing the iOS 5 reveal as I expect, there won't be THAT much to talk about.

Wouldn't be too surprised to see some nice new apps/app updates getting unveiled either; it'd be nice to see the Facebook app finally updated for the iPad.

Photo booth ! Sure to be a killer app. All I ever see at mac demo stations are kids playing with photo booth.

What sort of payment are you accepting though? I don't trust Californians in this economic climate like I do Nesbraskans.

surely minimum 1gb ram. I mean, almost everyone of those android tablets = 1gb ram.
I don’t see it till the iPad 3 with mah retinaz — which might or might not happen in the Fall.

Anticitizen One said:
If there gonna have the retina display ready for ipad 3 why not just put it in the ipad 2? grrr

Because that is how Apple works. The cripple the first iteration and then update year after year with features that should have been in there from the start.

Dat supply chain.
On top of that, if iPad 3 in fall is true, then it's likely they want to reposition the iPad cycle to then. In which case, they either wait until then entirely, or they release a minor revision as a stop gap. The latter option is better, as it stops them from getting Outdated as the real ipad competitors start launching.

Crippled. Unlike all those amazing other tablets that are on the market.

It's unlikely they are getting suitable yields on a double res display, which would push the prices/production capability outside the realms of possibility.

Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your buts!

I am very excite for this. I would also like to see them move away from the 16GB one and make the cheapest one 32GB. Would be killer machine and actually a death sentence to pretty much every Android tablet. Man those things have some shitty pricing.

Now this would be a good reason to go 32GB on the $500 model. A little throat stomping would be nice. I'm just not sure the supply/pricing are going to be there. I'd love to be wrong, obviously.

So will the iPad 2 be available for purchase in April, a month after the unveiling (like the iPhone), or will it be available for order immediately after the announcement and be in stores within a week (like the iPod Touch)? C'mon folks, where are all the predictions?!

Same. I would kill for a gig... and I almost put it on as my prediction considering all the other tablets will have it. But an efficient 512mb on iOS is probably pretty comparable to 1gb on Android.

iPhone 4 was in stores 17 days after WWDC10. Going by that, iPad 2 should be out around Saturday, March 19. We could be under a month away.

I think that's best-case scenario though.

The only prediction I have any confidence in making is that you will buy one and then immediately hate yourself for it.

My anticipation for iPad part deux is only half as much as iOS 5. Better notifications and lock screen info are all I ask.

I hope it's out immediately but I'd be alright without one for a month or two. I love my iPad but I do have two other PC's in the house and can carry around my laptop.

Lately Apple has not been great with releasing stuff immediately. I guess it will be month before release.

i laughed. :)

my prediction is that it'll be available two weeks after announcement. wishful thinking, but i really want to upgrade already.

WHAT

Haha. Seriously.

Because... it will be ready for the iPad 3... and... not the iPad 2? Or does Apple have a time machine where they can put parts ready for the iPad 3 into the iPad 2??

:lol I won't venture near any store selling iPads until a few weeks after the gadget lust has waned a bit. If by some miracle the iPad 2 does have a retina display I won't be able to resist though.

Booo! Those are top priorities for sure, but there's much more that can be done to improve iOS.

A revamped Safari (and other apps tweaked), some sort of central file system to allow for better interactivity between apps, better handling of app savedata, etc.

Apple Store doesn't charge restocking fees now, I think.

I still have a hard time to believe this. When did it ever happen that Apple introduced the successor of a product in the same year?

Historically, they’ve done multiple notebook refreshes in a single year. Of course those were mainly spec bumps.

disagree vehemently. Its about what is buildable affordably.

How much was that galaxy tab again? (with LOLz).

Cash only for craigslist. I get the counterfeit fear, but I wouldn't accept PayPal as a seller whenever I don't have to.

Just look for the reflective hologram thingy and the strip down the side (they still have those, right?); though a money marker wouldn't be a bad idea.

Oh god I can't wait.

March is going to be a great month.

My house will finish being built, I take a month off work to celebrate and buy a new iPad.

GO! GO! GO!!!!!!
