You know I think this all depends on your job and where you work. I've been at the same place for 15 years. I get 6 weeks of vacation, a day or two each week to work from home, and making good money after working my way up from temp to management. I'm happy in my job and the balance it provides away from work. I've made a lot of friends throughout the years who have come and gone and I know through that network should something crazy happen I would land on my feet.

That's what made me think of the non-scarcity idea I mentioned before. Unlimited is different than a certain allotted time, in the effect it has on the employees.

And I believe it's been shown to result in employees taking LESS time off. It's more diabolical than altruistic.
